  13. I had my surgery at Abington as well on 3/7/16 with dr bonanni. highly recommend him. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I showered the morning after when I got home from the hospital. I was told to use antibacterial soap, and don't rub it directly on the incisions but to let it run down my body and run over the sterie strips. i had to keep the sterie strips on for one week, and showered normally with them. you just have to make sure you pat them dry. I was told no baths for 60 days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I was told 1 month pre op, 3 months post op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I've never heard the wet lettuce expanding thing before, that's a new one on me. Bread, toast and rice are often thought by some to have that effect, and likewise readily ignored by others to little effect. But this early out you should be taking things slowly and following your doc's advice. Some people do have a problem with lettuce for some reason, even many months out (and, as usual, many others have no problem at all - a big YMMV thing.) I generally use chopped raw spinach rather than lettuce due to its somewhat better nutritional profile, but haven't had any particular problem with lettuce when I have had restaurant salads (I just don't eat much of it since they use it as filler instead of the more expensive and nutritious vegetables and Proteins.) My surgeon said only cooked spinach for now. I just finished my final phase so now I'm on unrestricted, but I still can't have raw fruits and veggies or nuts. don't know when he'll clear me for that.
  17. I'm just saying what my surgeon told me when I was there a few days ago and asked when I could start having salad.
  18. ohhhhhhh, I guess I'll never eat lettuce again then :/ I was told to wait at least 6 months before I try it. and even then, to eat the protein(chicken, egg) before the lettuce. My surgeon is pretty strict on foods. He pretty much said he never wants me to eat rice, Pasta, chips, pretzels or bread again. but obviously that's impossible for a carb-whore. And no coffee for 8-9 months which is killing me because I was drinking 3 cups a day before surgery. It will all be worth it in the end though. Already down 80 lbs
  19. I'm not allowed to have lettuce either and it's driving me insane! my surgeon said that when lettuce gets wet, it expands, and he doesn't want it to stretch my new stomach. All I'm craving is a chicken Caesar salad!! my surgery was 3/7/16
  20. I have awful nausea after eating. there's some days where I throw up whatever I eat, even if I was able to eat it the day before and keep it down. My surgeon said its just your new stomach fighting back from surgery and to take a nausea pill. I had to switch Protein shakes because the one I was on kept making me gag from the smell, so I switched from premier to nectar and so far so good. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. Southampton, PAalso had mine done at Abington on 3/7/16 Dr. Bonanni Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hello!I am over one year out and down 130lbs! I am doing fantastic! How are you feeling!? I am about 6 weeks out and down 60lbs. I feel amazing!! I am less than what I was when I graduated high school! How has your journey been so far? still losing?? congratulations on your loss so far! it's amazing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I told him I wanted to lose 30 more and he told me NO. He is happy where I'm at but he will give me, "let" me (haha) lose 15/20 more. But it's definitely harder now, I can eat anything I want, so just be choosey and you will be fine. Protein first. Always. Walking even RUNNING almost everyday. Fitbit is my new best friend. Well has been my best friend for the past year. Get one if you don't have one already. I recently moved to collegeville. Loving the area up here. Let me take a pic now and give you my pic update!! I got a Fitbit for my birthday. I just finally saw my surgeon yesterday and he cleared me to start working out so hopefully the weight comes off faster. I'm still having a lot of trouble keeping food down (just started soft foods) but I'm getting there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
