    Bathing

I showered the morning after when I got home from the hospital. I was told to use antibacterial soap, and don't rub it directly on the incisions but to let it run down my body and run over the sterie strips. i had to keep the sterie strips on for one week, and showered normally with them. you just have to make sure you pat them dry. I was told no baths for 60 days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Salad!

I've never heard the wet lettuce expanding thing before, that's a new one on me. Bread, toast and rice are often thought by some to have that effect, and likewise readily ignored by others to little effect. But this early out you should be taking things slowly and following your doc's advice. Some people do have a problem with lettuce for some reason, even many months out (and, as usual, many others have no problem at all - a big YMMV thing.) I generally use chopped raw spinach rather than lettuce due to its somewhat better nutritional profile, but haven't had any particular problem with lettuce when I have had restaurant salads (I just don't eat much of it since they use it as filler instead of the more expensive and nutritious vegetables and Proteins.) My surgeon said only cooked spinach for now. I just finished my final phase so now I'm on unrestricted, but I still can't have raw fruits and veggies or nuts. don't know when he'll clear me for that. Salad!

ohhhhhhh, I guess I'll never eat lettuce again then :/ Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App I was told to wait at least 6 months before I try it. and even then, to eat the protein(chicken, egg) before the lettuce. My surgeon is pretty strict on foods. He pretty much said he never wants me to eat rice, Pasta, chips, pretzels or bread again. but obviously that's impossible for a carb-whore. And no coffee for 8-9 months which is killing me because I was drinking 3 cups a day before surgery. It will all be worth it in the end though. Already down 80 lbs Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Salad!

I'm not allowed to have lettuce either and it's driving me insane! my surgeon said that when lettuce gets wet, it expands, and he doesn't want it to stretch my new stomach. All I'm craving is a chicken Caesar salad!! my surgery was 3/7/16 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Nausea after eating

I have awful nausea after eating. there's some days where I throw up whatever I eat, even if I was able to eat it the day before and keep it down. My surgeon said its just your new stomach fighting back from surgery and to take a nausea pill. I had to switch Protein shakes because the one I was on kept making me gag from the smell, so I switched from premier to nectar and so far so good. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I had my surgery on March 7, 2016, and yesterday I started throwing up blood. I threw up about every 10 minutes or less, and couldn't even keep down a sip of Water. I went to the emergency room where they did blood tests, an EKG and a cat scan and did not find any issues. They released me with no reason as to why I was vomitting blood. Did anyone else have issues similar to this? I don't see my surgeon again until my one month check up on Thursday. Should I be concerned? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How has your journey been so far? still losing?? congratulations on your loss so far! it's amazing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I told him I wanted to lose 30 more and he told me NO. He is happy where I'm at but he will give me, "let" me (haha) lose 15/20 more. But it's definitely harder now, I can eat anything I want, so just be choosey and you will be fine. Protein first. Always. Walking even RUNNING almost everyday. Fitbit is my new best friend. Well has been my best friend for the past year. Get one if you don't have one already. I recently moved to collegeville. Loving the area up here. Let me take a pic now and give you my pic update!! I got a Fitbit for my birthday. I just finally saw my surgeon yesterday and he cleared me to start working out so hopefully the weight comes off faster. I'm still having a lot of trouble keeping food down (just started soft foods) but I'm getting there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    vomitting blood

The staff in the emergency room didn't seem concerned at all. They said I might have just irritated my esophagus from throwing up, but it was a ton of blood and I couldn't stop. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    March Surgery!

it was in the beginning, I went from 359 to 307 since January , but it's starting to slow down already which is making me nervous. I think it might be because I'm not eating as much as I should be. I'm beyond sick of the Protein shakes (been on them over a month) and the smell of food makes me sick. how has your loss been? March Surgery!

I feel really great. after day 3, I felt back to normal. I've only thrown up once, but that's because I ate too fast. my only issue is heart burn. I never had heart burn until after my surgery and it's awful! I'm happy that I'm not craving junky food, just sushi and salad. still have 5 more weeks of a restricted diet and then I'm unrestricted! March Surgery!

@@Titaniumsleeved2014 I wish you the best! is anyone else post-op having issues with not feeling full? they said they removed the part of my stomach that "makes you feel hunger" but my stomach still growls and I'm hungry. for only being able to eat 3-5 oz, I feel like I can eat so much more than that. it's making me nervous. other people have told me they're full after two or three bites. March Surgery!

That's awesome, congratulations! How are you feeling? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Congratulations and happy birthday! How did your surgery go? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App I had a very, very rough surgery to the point that they almost had to back out. they found out my intestines were stuck to my abdominal wall(?) while they were in there, so it didn't give them much wiggle room. I ended up having a 6.5 hour surgery instead of 4, and I had to stay in the hospital an extra night. I'm home now, and I feel amazing 9 days post op. the first 4 were rough, but after that I felt back to normal. I'm down 40 lbs since my 2 week pre op diet, and I'm losing every day.
