Hello! I have been ghosting on the forum for a while now, and feel the need to reach out. I was supposed to be sleeved with gallbladder removal on 8/16, but my body had other plans. Around 1 am Saturday 8/13 I began to have excruciating pain in my RUQ. It was so horrible I woke my parents up to come and pick me up( I live 30 minutes from them) to drive me the 30 minutes to the hospital I was to have surgery at. I am an ICU RN at the hospital and absolutely did not want to be admitted. I spent the 30 Minute drive in the most intense pain I have ever felt. Once at the ER they gave me pain meds and an ultrasound. The ER was going to send me home because my ultrasound did…

I just had my 3 month post op follow up appointment on yesterday. I am very deficient in my Vitamin d and Protein levels. I'm on target for my weight loss but starting to not feel good. I was using a patch for my vitamin supplements but was told that it seems as though I am metabolizing everything very fast. Now I have to go back to the regular Vitamins and add an additional Vitamin D pill (uggh) I'm not a very good pill taker as it is! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can become successful with this? HELP PLEASE! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hey y'all! I'm starting my sleeve journey hopefully by the end of next month (June 2016). I've been overweight the majority of my life and am finally ready to be comfortable in my skin again. I'll be a self pay so everything is moving very quickly for me. I had my initial consult Wednesday, May 25th. During the consultation I learned the differences between the band, the sleeve, and the bypass and opted for the sleeve. I felt the sleeve would be the safest bet for me. I have a blood clotting disorder (Factor 5 Leiden) and had to schedule an appointment with a hematologist to get the all clear for surgery. That appointment is scheduled for June 7th along with my nutr…

Hello all!!! I'm 1 week post op today!!! Wooooooo hooooo!!! Lol It's truly an interesting experience. First, I had THE BEST surgeon and hospital staff that I could have in NJ. I was diabetic, had high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I was in for 3 days...15 staples, 1 drain. I was discharged on NO meds for any of the comorbidities. So far they're all under control and have been since the hospital!!! I left without the drain. Incisions are healing well. I just want these staples out ASAP!!! Lol they pull at the puncture points, which is more painful than the surgery Lol I'm focusing on walking and getting those liquids in...clear liquid diet for the first week a…

I started out good but then started reverting back to old ways. My surgery was September 9th 2015. Dr mark eaton from southern Oregon bariatric center. Day of surgery I weighed 358. Today I weigh 243 pounds. Total loss 135 lbs. since surgery 115 pounds. I am off blood pressure, cholesterol , and no longer a diabetic. If anyone has any question feel free to message me. I am an open book. When I started I wore a size 48 pants. Today I wear 36.

Today, I am feeling much better than the first day out of the OR. Typically when they wheel you out of the operating room, they take you to a place called the the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you spend a minimal amount of time as this is used to evaluate your status right out of surgery, hence the name. I got out of the OR right on time at 9:00AM, Tuesday morning. Everything was smooth sailing I thought, up until I finally left the PACU at 10:00PM that evening to finally transition to the care unit I had needed to heal in. I was extremely disappointed, but on the bright side of it all I try to remain positive. My husband was the one who got me through the ordeal and …

This was my very first surgery in my life. Took my medicine by mouth no problem, no nausea, no catheter, and no real pain, all good stuff. I woke up ate some chicken broth drank more water and went home. Went back to work this past Friday. I am a little over a week post op and have lost 17 pounds. Hi! I joined this forum a few weeks prior to my surgery. I actually found it on accident! Lol! I have enjoyed reading the stories and the varying experiences and have definitely learned a lot. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember, but I've been really comfortable with myself (or am I?). My lowest weight as an adult was when I graduated nursing school in 1988. I was in 150s! I have steadily gained weight over the years, and the highest weight I can recall is in 2004 after I had my second child when I weighed 253. I'm only 5ft tall. My weight has gone up and down due to several failed dieting attempts. The lowest I can recall is 216. I have always thought …

Hi all, Had sleeve surgery Aug 1. Recovery has gone very well other than some minor issues. I didn't need any pain meds when I went home, I took one Vicodin in the hospital, and one regular Tylenol when I got home. Nothing else. For the first couple days after, when I would drink, shortly after I took a sip (I guess the time it took to travel to the stomach) I would feel a mild sharp pain near my sternum that subsided in a few seconds. This has gone away. Stopped, for the most part on about the fourth day. Haven't had any issues with constipation. Plenty of gas, but no real problem getting rid of it. As all say, walking around helps a lot. Another tip, if y…

After a year for trying different fill levels I unexpectedly fainted twice. My new Doc suggested i switch to the sleeve. He unfilled me for over 6 months to allow my stomach to heal and prepare for the next surgery. During that time I gained weight back faster than I lost it. On May 18, 2016, he performed the band removal and sleeve. I feel no gas pain nor did I require pain meds after 24 hrs. I did/do feel bloated but walking is helping a lot.
