Well hello everyone. I am about to begin my weight loss journey, or I should say I've already began. It has always been a struggle of mines being over weight. I loved my body for years until I stepped on the scale back in January 2016 and it read 386 (HRW). At that point I decided my life is spiraling out of control and I need to do something.I started seeing a nutritionist whom have me great pointers but I did not follow after 2 weeks. I contacted the doctors office and went for a consultation. She then began to work with me and stated it would be best for me to get weight loss surgery. So here I am. I have one more requirement and that is to see the nutritionist. I pra…

I had my sleeve surgery done on August 22nd. I feel great but I haven't lost one pound in the last 12 days! I eat fat free Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken mixed with hummus in my food processor and I walk 45 minutes everyday. How is it possible that I've not lost any weight at all in 12 days? What's going on? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. Today is the 7th day of my pre-op liquid diet. Maybe my thoughts may help others. First, I'm proud to say I did not cheat. I was tempted a few times when I was around prepared food such as at a meeting I attended. Fortunately the meal was at the end of the meeting so I made an excuse and went home. Also, I did not go to Lions Club which has a buffet meal during the meeting. I followed my Drs. guidelines religiously. Generally I would have a Protein shake with almond milk or skim milk for Breakfast, then a half cup of Greek yogurt for a mid morning snack, then a premier Protein Shake and another half cup of yogurt at lunch, then drink an Isopure in the afternoon, 32 oz of …

Hello fellow sleevers, I was sleeved on 2/29/16 and I have to say even with some of the minor complications, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for "myself". Being a dedicated wife and mom, everyone else became a priority and before I knew it I had ballooned up to around 274 and at 46, it was affecting my health. Anyway, at my heaviest and while waiting for surgery approval I would browse this website for encouragement and I would find it. I wanted to post my before and after pics to hopefully encourage someone else. Btw... I am 5'8 and my health has dramatically improved (woo hoo). I would still like to lose another 15-20 pounds... It's my 6 month surgeriversary. It's been a hard, long road. I've learned so much about myself over the past 6 months. I am a strong person, I can overcome the worst of situations, and I am beautiful. I've learned lessons about love, life, and pain. It has been the hardest 6 months of my life. It's not easy learning a whole new life habit, it's like I've learned how to live all over again. I've had some amazing family and friends stick by my side through all the times, they have cried with me, laughed with me, celebrated with me, encouraged me, and been there for me when I needed it. I have also learned heart break, I've had people who I thought were there for me leave my…

Does anyone worry they are loosing weight fast enough? Like I'm not doing it right. I follow the diet to a T, exercise 30min a day...I still feel tired a lot. I keep my Proteins up and liquids mostly up. Am I just worrying too much? Drs say I am doing fine, but I have a hard time believing it. I love hearing everyone's story. I am very inspired. I a 54 year old female and ready to change my life. I have only shared my surgery with my s/o and my 3 sons. For that I am thankful. A little scared of the recovery time as I am planning on going back to work in 10 days post. I am a field rep for a medical device company. My question is post op pain and timeline for feeling good. I lost my 29 year old son 1 year ago in a car accident, he was the picture of health. Surfer an…

One year ago today I made the biggest decision of my life thus far. There are only a handful of people that knew and to this day, only close friends and family. I made the decision to get healthy for not only myself but for my future husband, our future children and our overall life together. I was a serious yo yo dieter, constantly up and down with my weight. So in August of 2015, after months of research and doctors appointments, I had gastric sleeve surgery. To this day, I haven't told many people out of fear of judgement, embarrassment and being told "why didn't you just eat right and exercise like everyone else". Well, I had and couldn't lose the weight. So no, this…

How has having the sleeve made a difference compared to regular dieting and choosing the right foods? I fear i might not have the will power, and i will fail at this too!

My journey toward gastric sleeve surgery has been frustrating and far from typical. To make a long story semi-short, I have liver disease. A couple of years ago my liver doctor suggested that I get weight loss surgery so I could be put on a transplant list if I needed to be. You need to have a BMI of 35 or less to go on the list. I first went to the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti, MI, and everything went smoothly up until the day of surgery. I was actually on the gurney with an IV stuck in me when the dr. told me he was backing out--he was worried about my liver. I have no complaints with him saying he was uncomfortable doing the surgery, but I really wish he could have …

Until I lost my job and couldn't afford but 2 fills. I was only able to get up to 7 cc and never felt much restriction. Fast forward to 2016 I haven't had a fill in 2 years and since I'm the worst I would drink when I ate and eat bad. Until fall 2015 I started working out hard and eating very little helping me go from 270lbs down to 240 which I am currently at. They discouraged me each and every day and said all kinds of things like, "you are taking the easy way out!, you will have to take Vitamins for the rest of your life." etc. In response t0 the negativity I kept thinking I would rather take vitamins every day for the rest of my life than have to stick myself 4-6 times a day with an insulin syringe.
