I've had so many ups and down these past four months! I started at 340 lbs. I'm down to 251 lbs. As much as I have regretted having this surgery done, it has saved my life. I'm 22 years old and I was going down a road I don't think I would have stopped if I didn't have this surgery. I've always been a bigger girl, but 340lbs is and will be my biggest and i am never going to go back to it. It's the hardest thing I have ever done. This surgery has impacted me emotionally so much, I've been having a rollercoaster of emotions every day. I am so incredibly proud of myself though, that I am tearing up! Haha. It's amazing how many things I've noticed. I'm actually wearing jeans…

Today make a month since I had my Gastric bypass surgery. So happy to be here , to feel the weight come off and see it and to hear others say how good I'm looking. Though I told myself this surgery was not for me to look good , that's not why I did it, even though I do want that to come in play as well , but I did it to feel good, be healthy and I can say I am off diabetes meds, high blood pressure meds and my knees feel much , much , much better. Starting weight was 377lbs , pre-op weight 353 today 317 . September the 14 when I laid on that operating table I told myself this change is for you. Don't do it for nobody else but for you. I been motivated for the results of the weight loss and my gym results. I lost all of my weight by November 2015 now it's just been maintenance. Definitely keeping active, as you see I picked up biking which is something I haven't done in 20 years along with hiking. Surgery was the best decision I made in my life. My only regret was not doing it sooner since now I'm in my mid 40s . Hope to chat with fellow NY'ers

Late September I decided I wanted to do the gastric sleeve. My brother had a buddy that just got one and I needed a change in my life from a weight standpoint. at my heaviest I was 409 probably and i was 385 at the time and not getting anywhwere fast. Essentially i decided I wasn't going to be able to do all of this on my own without some sort of stick driving me forward. MY company didn't cover me from an insurance standpoint and I couldn't afford 17k out of pocket. My decision was a Tiajana Doctor named Ariel Ortiz. If you want to know why let me tell you There is a doctor down there killing people from that news story they talked about board certification. …

I started reaearching mexico a few months ago as the backup plan and saw all excellent stuff about Dr Garcia so after my last appeal was denied, I scheduled with him and started my preop that day. Fast forward to today, 2 days preop. Everything went great. The drivers got me to my hotel which is beautiful then to CER hospital for surgery. This past week I measured a client for a custom wedding dress. Her BMI (I would guess) was well north of 45. I could tell she was extremely uncomfortable in her skin and I saw in her eyes the same anguish, frustration and pain I felt before I had my Gastric Sleeve. I so wanted to share my story with her. Having both battled anorexia and obesity, I firmly believe there is so much more to weight loss than calories consumed and burned. But there is so much emphasis in our culture on self-control and the concept that obesity is the result of a weak will. There's a lot of misinformation out there and even more shame. So I wanted to ask, what do you do in situations like thi…

Today, October 22, 2016, I am 213 lbs. So far, so good! I'm happy! I can't exercise because I have vascular necrosis of the right hip. One of the purposes of getting the surgery is to be approved for hip replacement surgery. My orthopedic surgeon wanted me to loose at least 100 lbs in order to not damage the prosthetic hip and also to alleviate any risk of infection. Since my bypass surgery, it's still hard for me to digest any kind of meat, Pasta, rice or bread. But, I think this will eventually re…

I don't have any co-morbidities. The nurse said that I need to gain weight so I can still qualify. Well, I don't want to gain weight. I enjoy not having the aches and pains any more. I'm going to continue my NUT visits since I'm 3 months in. My husband and close friend told me to keep up this lifestyle and I may not need the surgery. Happy for that. I did have a Foley which was taken out yersterday. Still do have the drainage, which isn't draining much. I've been walking without pain. My doctor prefers 2 days no food or liquid until he orders that barium test to check for leaks. That Barium is very nasty, thank God it was only like 3 sips. I was brought some broth after that and some liquid Protein. I've been able to tolerate. I take a sip every 15 minutes. Hopefully I go home today. It's gonna be difficult …
