For starters my name is randy im a 27yr old male from kentucky. Ive always been borderline overweight at any point in my life but i played sports all through school so that kept me a little athletic build. At my best 5'11 230lb and held records for weight lifting. Once i graduated high school i went on to quick stent at college sports and decided i was done with it and thats when the weight came. I got in a comfortable relationship, stopped working out and started drinking and eatting and blew up to 360. But with my past no one accepted i was that big even my self i still just looked like a brute. I kept that weight for prob 7 years and lately i got all the way to 391. Ha…

Hello, I'm Kelli and I had my sleeve surgery on Tuesday, Dec 6 at UTMB in Galveston, TX. I'm so glad to be home now resting in my own bed. My hospital stay was not very pleasant. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you here and hopefully I can help others as well. My insurance required a long pre op program that was started back in March! Hello! My husband and I both had the surgery done on September 6th 2016. Both same day. I hit 304lbs and new I had to do something about my weight. Decided to get the surgery and it changed my life. I am currently just 3 months and 3 days out from surgery and so far lost 70lbs. Day of surgery weighed in at 288lbs and now I'm 218lbs. I couldn't believe how quickly I lost all that weight. I was a size 26 in September and now down to a size 16w. Its scary how quickly everything is happening but this has been the best thing I've ever done in my life. I had issues the first two weeks and and couldn't keep anything down so they had to go in and dilate my incision in my esophagu…

I have been dragging my feet on posting an introduction, so I apologize! My name is CC and I'm 38 female in Central Texas. I have committed to VSG surgery for December 15, 2016. I have always been bigger but not always overweight. I allowed people to tell me I was "too big" and I didn't protect my self esteem. I became complacent and lazy, and failed to address issues that led to being greatly overweight as I got older. The truth is I will always be big, but I desire to no longer be morbidly obese. I vow to never be over 400 lbs again, and I know there are others betting the challenge of higher #s in being overweight. Let me share some basic stats: Highest reco…

Hey everyone. I'm new here and am thinking about having the bypass surgery but wanted to talk to some people who've had it done before. It's not an easy decision by any means and I would love some advice. I'm 23 years old, 290 lbs. I've struggled with my weight my whole life and I'm tired of worrying about the complications of being obese. Any advice and before/after pictures would be greatly appreciated! I had RNY bypass on 11/29 . My incisions are healing nicely but it one large incision of my left side can be agonizing with a slight sneeze or cough. I finally had a BM today on day 6 post op. How long do the incisions pain last? Have any of you had trouble getting in hydration fluids? I get all of my Protein, but it is hard to get the 64 oz on top of the liquid Protein shakes. I haven't vomited yet. I find my anti nausea medication makes me feel nauseous. My weight is starting to come off from my liver shrinking diet high of 362lbs. I just really want my recovery to be a textbook case.

I got up to 505. Started getting ready 6 months ago. Was staying at 468. When I went on the liquid diet I lost 15 pounds. Had the surgery on the 12th of October. Weighed 453. As of November 9th I've lost to 420. My journey is at 75 pounds so far. Hoping to be at 250 within a year. I was a bulk eater don't care for sweets. This is the best thing ever. I'm losing a pound a day with no hunger. It's great. Haven't found anything I can't eat yet except pork. And milk makes me gassy. I go back to work Monday as an OTR truck driver. And figure I'll live on chicken and slim fast shakes. Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello all. Happy holidays. Just doing a follow up. I was sleeved 5/29/15. Pre surgery weight 345 SW 320 CW 200. My Dr told me my goal would be 225 but I passed that in the first 6 months. It was easy losing. The hard part is maintaining but I'm trying my best. It's just important to surround yourself with positive people and unfortunately at times we have to let go of some relationships because of their lack of respect. Hope everyone is doing well. You're welcome to ask any question. I'm in NYC if there are any locals for chatting.

I just received the call my insurance approved me for sleeve surgery. My pre-op appointment is Monday, December 12th. Everything seems to be happening so fast, I'm experiencing many emotions right now. I've had unexpected changes in the last few days that's adding to my options. People that have been here for the journey up until now may not be there with me for these appointments, surgery, and post life. It's been a long road even though things are moving so quick now. I first applied for my program in September 2015. My surgery will likely late January 2017. I'll know for sure this Monday. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App

I'm back! I was banded in April of 2014! I lost about 50-60lbs all together. I struggled around holidays and started to eat bread again. I found out I was pregnant August 2015. I had my fill taken out in October of 2015. I went back in just a week ago and had a upper GI done to make sure my band and port were in place. My port has flipped twice and I also had a hernia repair a year after my bad was placed. It's been a long road 2-3 years will surgeries (I have to have c-sections when I have my children) I was just diagnosed with PCOS. They thought I had it back when I gained all my weight but it was confirmed a few days ago. I got some fill back in 2cc yesterday…

Hi! I'm three days from being released from hospital, and day 6 of post-op. After having the hardest medical year last year and dealing with multiple co-morbidities, I started looking into which weight loss solution was right for me. I could afford the surgery locally and while visiting my parents in Mexico, after they recently retired here, they took me to a battery of doctors to get second opinions about my co-morbidities and came across a family friend and relative who is a general surgeon and has been a god send. Her son is a surgeon as well, and know for laparoscopic procedures. Her daughter is a registered dietician, who has monitored ny weight, nutrition plans …

What can I say? This has been a very long process of adjustment. And I wasn't as prepared as I should have been I thought it was going to be a painless and easy process. Boy oh boy was I wrong. The pain is just now starting to ease up and trying to eat on a schedule is really hard. Especially when I would rather drink gatorade. So I have to give it up all together just so I would eat. And finding Protein that I can tolerate is even worse.. Everyone else sees the changes but I don't see them as of yet. I only can feel the difference. I was able to fit into my daughter's coat which is a large and it zipped all the way up, from mines with has always been a 2 or 3x for a…

RNY 12/5/16 The pre op diet was one of the biggest journeys I've been in, it was great because I was able to identify my triggers. I am in a lot of pain but moving around is getting a lot easier. So far my biggest issue has been hiccups! Which is a nightmare right after surgery! Even waking up from it in the middle of the night. I am excited for this new journey, I'll be telling more of my story as the days go by. [attachment=66993:ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1481140037.776231. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I know I should be able to handle this myself, but I'm scared and everyone here seems to be so supportive I just want to know. How do you go about telling your family and friends? My mother, father, and boyfriend know. They've been incredibly supportive even in this early stage. I've literally just started the process, having gone to a seminar, referral from my PCP, consult with my surgeon, upper GI, and ultrasound for my gallbladder. I have a while to go before the surgery. But I'm worried about telling other family members and friends. I feel like I could get my feelings hurt by those who think they know better/don't understand, and I'm tempted not to tell anyone beside…

Hi I am 38 and I had RNY on July 21st 2015. My hw was 402. Right now I am 248. I love my decision. I have never thrown up and after my surgery I didn't have much pain b at all. One thing I did have was GAS! That made me so nervous and almost regret my decision. Eventually after gas strips and a good "poop" I felt better. One thing about me that's strange is I have NEVER gotten sick. I don't really eat much but I eat whatever I want just not much. I do make sure Protein is ALWAYS included in my meals. No shakes. .. yuck! When I did drink shakes slim fast protein chocolate shakes were my favorite. I sometimes get them when I do my pouch test b and fast for a few days. Othe…

So between May and my surgery in September I dropped 55 pounds. Since then, I've dropped another 45. No one said anything pre-op, but I'm starting to get compliments now. I've also learned that there was speculation around my office about my surgery (I only told my boss). I'm not bothered by the compliments, but paired with the subtle hints on surgery, I'm a little miffed. I did all that work pre-op, and no one noticed. Now that people notice, it feels like surgery and not me is getting the credit. In either case, people speculating about my medical issues is uncomfortable. No one has said anything unkind, but feels like my privacy has been invaded a bit. And …

Hi everyone!! Just wanted to share some success! I've actually been really down lately about how I look. I keep saying I look the same and I still have so much more to go. I wish someone had prepared me for the head games involved with this process. It takes a while for your head to catch up to how far you have come. My boyfriend suggested I do some shopping and it was the first time I really said to myself "wow, if I stopped here I would not be unsatisfied" and MEANT it. Target shirt in a MEDIUM (whaaaaaaat! I was in a TIGHT 3xl), Uniqlo jeans in a 29 (they're really stretchy Ive been wearing a 10 lately and my waist is 33 1/2 inches)! Anyway point of this…

Didn't want to have surgery, but new I couldn't do it on my own. Finally gave in. After the surgery I was not happy. The pain and nausea was bad. But next day I went home. For 3 days I couldn't really stomach anything. I wanted so bad to gulp Water. But it was to painful for that. I took it slow. Second and third week I felt like I was starving. I realized I wasn't getting enough Protein. Everybody is different on what they can eat and digest, during the different phases. The day I was to go home, a girl two beds down from me had the same surgery. So I asked her if we could exchange phone numbers. She said yes and it has been great. We've helped each other thre…
