Well I got the call have to be at the hospital at 6 a.m. tomorrow. I'm a mess in a good way and a bad way, lol! Here's my before pics, can't believe I'm sharing these but pretty soon they'll be a distant memory. Don't have an accurate weight because every scale is different. I was 247.8 at home this morning(and I'll do check-ins here too), which is 12# less than my PCP scale. My highest weight was 300+#'s. First goal is to finally get under 200! Final goal see pics below

Six months ago my husband was prepping to have his gastric sleave surgery. He has since lost 53 lbs. But that is his story not mine. I thought I had the power to loose the weight with him without the surgery. I was wrong. I lost a couple of pounds but then started to gain (again)! I didn't feel surgery was for me. I was BMI of 35 with several health issues (high cholesterol, migraines, and constant knee, hip, feet and back pain). After his second week post op, I changed my mind. I saw how well he was doing with recovery and decided to give it a go. I started at 220 lbs 5'6.5", presurg weight of 207.4 lbs. I am now 169.8 lbs. I can't beging to count how many plateaus I h…

Hello all, I wanted to make a separate thread for all of the September sleevers to post updates and share tips. Of course any and everybody is welcome! I am 13 days post op and feeling great. Still on liquids, so my diet is mostly Water and Protein shakes. I'm not feeling hungry at all, and "head hunger" only lasted a few days. Tonight was the first night I have seen my close friends since surgery and everyone was betting on how much I've lost. It made me feel good and gave me a spring in my step. I haven't weighed myself and I'm waiting to see how much I've lost since surgery for my first post op visit on Monday. I can't wait to see who was closest. The only down…

It's been ages since I've been on the forums! I wanted to check in and let you all know that I am still alive. Life got CRAZY since October or so. Finally sold my house... bought a new condo... meandering my way through the divorce process with my husband.... I am really hoping things settle down after the Holidays. I have been working non-stop on making my condo livable since I moved in. It was filthy and disgusting. I've been cleaning, painting every room, replacing all the fixtures, and repairing/replacing everything that was broken. Haven't been able to keep up with my running since October-ish. Really hoping to get back into that after the first of the year as I begi…

I am so happy today I was sleeved this time last year on this day at 387 pounds and felt like I was headed to my death bed if I didn't make some changes. This is by far the best decision I have ever made for myself. I hit onederland (199) today as well and have surpassed all of my surgeons expectations. That is a total weight loss of 188 pounds and from a size 32 to a 14 in 1 year never thought I would see the scale for myself under 200 again. I feel great I exercise everyday and I am not dying of starvation! LOL! The best part is I think for the 1st time in my adult life I am truly happy and not just hiding behind a smile.

I posted this earlier, repeating with some edits and updates and plan to keep this updated for my own accountability! I was banded in 2007 at 333lb; it worked lovely for me, I lost almost everything I wanted in 1 year (220lb) -- then I got pregnant & it broke, gained it all back, had a baby, revised band -- lost it all again (211!), got pregnant again & it broke again -- gained it all back again, had a baby, revised band. Worked again, but slower... broke again.. gained it back... this has continued on and on.. I have had a total of 2 replacements & 6 revisions. Before my last, last revision I was back to 220lb. Took over a year of testing (with a new doct…

I was 213 when I had my surgery. I am now 183 and I am struggling to get out the 180's. My goal weight is 125. Others who have had the surgery have lost their weight fast and I am struggling. I don't know if its because the meds I take cause weight gain, if I am not working out enough, or I stressing. I would love to meet others who have been through the same thing I am going through and know what they did to fix the problem. I will say I struggle to get enough Water in. I also don't go to the gym consistently but that will change because my son is going to start going with me to his 24 hour gym. I am on myfitness pal under mirandaperry2005. I am also on twitter …

Hey guys so this is my first post. I had my sleeve done one week ago on December 20th. It's been quite a journey. I'm 25 and I have been overweight my entire life. It really got bad when I got put on antidepressants when I was 12 (I have anxiety/depression & bipolar disorder.) I tried many different antidepressants and it seems like each and every one increased my appetite. But I was such an anxious and depressed wreck without medication that it just wasn't possible for me to function without it. When I was in middle and high school my mom and I would diet a lot. I was on nutri-system, weight watchers, and many others but I never lost much and I would become discourag…

I am hoping to have surgery sometime in November. To be honest I am a bit nervous... How long does insurance usually take to approve the surgery? So I don't have my surgery date yet, I'm still going through the rigors of getting to that point. But I am worried about needing tucks/lifts/plastic surgery post-op. I'm 270 and 21 years old. I absolutely believe that going through the bariatric process is worth any skin sagging, etc., but I want to know if there's a possibility that I won't need post-op surgeries. Obviously I won't know for sure until after the RNY, but are there any others out there that were okay without corrective surgeries after the weight loss? Thanks all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello Everyone, My name is Misty, I am 5'7 and weigh 262. I never had a weight problem until after a full hysterectomy which I had in my 20's. Over the past 10 years it seemed to sneak up on me. I realized about two years ago and started thinking about wls. After 2 years of failed attempted with several different programs I decided to start the process. I met with a surgeon on 12/8, he gave me a list of things needed which only included labs, upper gi, and psych eval. I have completed all and now just waiting on the surgeons office to submit to insurance (my insurance didn't require a waiting period). So here I am, finding the app (still figuring out the forum format), …

Hi all. I just wanted to tell me story as I was just sleeved and found the app. I am 28 yrs old. Been overweight my entire life. I started dieting and exercising my senior year in height school, fluctuated up and down but trended down all throughout college. My max weight at the time was 300lbs after having my first child. My min weight was 220 before and after her. I got to that number by counting calories, and exercising 1.5+ hours a day. I got pregnant with my second child (2015) and started gaining massive weight. I topped out at 320 at delivery. I knew that I wasn't in a position to spend so much time to get the weight off without the surgery. I know all the …

I had surgery 12/3016. I had a unknown bonus surgery as well. It seems i had a hiatial hernia. They repaired that and completed the sleeve. Now im not sure what my body is telling me. Everytime i put something in my mouth i have a wave of cramping/pain. My wife us a 20 year ER nurse and wont let me get behind on myprotein or Fluid intake. But it is so unsettling to me im afraid to try anything at all. Walking isnt an issue. No pain there. Just slow moving. Just the putting something in my mouth has me worried. I am begining to wonder if i have made a mistake. Chris Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

I started my weight loss journey with the gastric sleeve on August 3, 2016. I have hit several stalls along the way, but I have embraced them for what they are. Never let anyone tell you that you are taking the easy way out!! It is by no means EASY! It is painful because you have a major operation, you mourn the loss of your best friend, food, and you experience different side effects like malnutrition (in the beginning), constipation, and being cold all the time. But I would do it all over again to feel as amazing as I do now!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello Everyone, I recently had the sleeve on December 17,2016. This journey has been a long process. Initially my insurance required I do 6 months of documented weight-loss. Which I completed in September of 2016. However I was with True Results of Dallas weight-loss clinic which has now transition to the Nicholson clinic. Having the sleeve has been a struggle. My doctor has me on a clear liquid diet for 21 days . Hopefully when I go in on the 01/03/2017 I'll be cleared for pureed foods. Any suggestions other than Soups or broths or sugar free pops they give me acid reflux . Sent from my HTC Desire 626s using the BariatricPal App

In an attempt to start 2017 on the right foot and use my band, I made an appointment to see my surgeon for a fill. He sent me for an upper GI which I had on Thursday. The radiologist showed me several of the pictures in which my port is placed, the catheter that transports the saline is there but there is no band placed around my stomach. He had me turn various ways and took pictures but he could not see the band at all. He said there was no indention in my stomach whatsoever. He expedited the pictures to my surgeon and I expect to hear from them early next week. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Background: I was banded December 2012 and lost a total of 67 pound…

Happy new year to all. It was about this time last year when I went to my primary doctor to get my prescription filled for blood pressure medication. I weighed in at 321 pounds. I was borderline diabetic and not sleeping well. About the same time, my bride of 9 to years also was contemplating WLS, so in March I saw an add for bariatric surgery at our local hospital. We attended the seminar and my bride was all in that night, me...m ah not so much . It took me another 2 weeks to commit. In the end, I did not want to sabotage her success if I kept eating the way I was, and her having this whole new lifestyle. She motivated me to get on the program. We started pre cla…

Hello all. Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Mary, I live in Wisconsin, run a dairy farm with my hubby and we have two grown children and two grandbabies. I had been a large gal my whole life, no doubt in part due to the fact that beer, brats and cheese are staples in any good Wisconsinite's diet . After climbing to a BMI of 50 and feeling quite useless due to my physical limitations, I finally decided to have WLS in 2010. I ended up going to Mexico since my insurance company would only pay for bypass or Lapband because they considered VSG experimental. Fortunately, my daughter is a gastroenterologist and she used her connections to hand pick me a surgeon who was re…

I have a blog, but am looking for more people going through the same things as me. Www.adorkabletreasure.wordpress.com November 13: The Major Decision Within the last month, I've decided that I needed a change in my life. This change could potentially change my life dramatically-for the better. I am terrified of what will happen, the long term effects and the process in general. However, I need to do this. I had diverticulitis before surgery having 12 inches of my colon removed about ten years ago. Dr. went in and said the scar tissue was horrible and the surgery was 3 1/2 hours long. After 4 days of in the hospital got released and everyday is a challenge. I have absolutely no appetite and broth and popsicles come right back up. I did get some Gas X which helped tremendously with immediate impact. Haven't had a good night sleep since I've been home and I feel exhausted all the time. Hi everybody, It's been a long journey for me, but I finally have been assigned a surgery date for January 30th. My metabolic problems began in childhood, like so many of you. My mother was mentally ill and there was often little or no food around. I was responsible for cooking for my family as a child, and didn't know very much about nutrition. My brothers and sisters and I were often moved back and forth across the country between my parents in unpredictable combinations. I had very little interaction with my Dad till my teen-age years. Although, I was a normal weight, he strongly encouraged me to go on 10 day fasts, eating nothing but hot Water with lemon and molas…

I had my surgery on June 15, 2015, before surgery I weighed in at 265, I would tell myself it was all good until I had a grand child and I was raising him because my daughter was 17. I started not to be able to keep up with him and it was hard to get off the floor. That is when I decided it was time to do something. So I went to seminar and first doctors appt was in January of 2015, the six month waiting period was very fast and smooth, got a call after my classes were finished saying insurance approved my surgery and was scheduled for surgery less than two weeks later. Surgery went well, after surgery I found out I was allergic to morphine and got sick from the time I…
