This is my first post... I wasn't sure where to post but this seems like an active board. I am scheduled for RNY gastric bypass on January 16th. I have a big appointment Thursday called a team meeting at my hospital and I'm hoping that is supportive. I've done a ton of research and gone through all of the pre-op clearances (just a few more appointments to go) and my spouse (who is naturally rather thin) is generally supportive, but I am still feeling very nervous and alone--and terrified about both the pre op liquid diet and the surgery itself, even though I am in therapy and emotionally preparing (long history of anxiety and depression--and yes, I have a psych clearanc…

Then there are days like today. The photo on the left showed up in my news feed on Facebook. I am only 5 months out from sleeve surgery and down 80 lbs. I had dropped 40 on my own over 4 years by just working out and eating better. HW - 360ish SW - 323 CW - 242 Feels good. I have about 25 lbs to get to my goal and I know I'll do it as I have always enjoyed working out. The holidays and sweets are a battle for me. I am lighter now than when I graduated high school. This journey is amazing and I know it's not over for me. I'm training to do a sprint triathalon in June. This just there's me for a loop today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Everyday is a challenge. Every meal is a question of "do i really want that?". Every month is a question of why am i not loosing more. When i look at myself in the mirror i cant see the difference. People keep telling me that i changed, but i cant see it. I went from a size 24 to a now 16/14 and im 7 month out. From 318 lb to 228lb. 90 lb difference that i cannot tell by looking at myself. Maybe its a good thing, it wakes me work harder at the gym, helps me make better decisions with my diet. This is the first time i compared pictures of my face....definitely looks like a different person Dasha

Hello everyone! Im a single mother of 3 kids 10, 8, and 4 yrs old. I finally hit rock bottom I want to be able to be there for my kids and I realized I can't do it if I continue to live an unhealthy lifestyle so it took a year to finally make my decision but here I am joining the crowd with our journeys. I just had my GB 6 days ago. My start weight was 280 and now I have lost 17lbs. I know I'll get a stall somewhere but I'm going to keep at it. I can't complain about anything after reading so many other stories I think I'm doing good so far besides not being able to take big gulps so I just stayed on liquid diet until I heal more. I'm super happy to have made this deci…

So I'm at the very start of this, I had an intake with a nurse, dietician an psych. Because I have some psych problems they decided to put me in a 3 month trail where I have to prove that I'm able to lower my amount of binges without relapsing in Other destructive behavior. Im at 1 month now and its been really hard (tbh quitting smoking was easier than this), but I'm managing. One step at a time. My next appointments are at the beginning of August, i'll talk to the dietician and psych again and 23/8 I have an appointment with the endocrinologist (secretly hoping I'll get a go then ). I was sleeved on 11-29-2017 at the VA Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA. Surgeon was Dr. Eric Kubat. First of all, I can't say enough good things about the quality of care there. I went in for a simple sleeve and ended up spending 6 days in the ICU with heart and lung issues along with out of sight blood pressure problems. I was under anesthesia for 5 1/2 hours and almost died on the table, but I'm alive and feeling much better today. I walked into the hospital on the 29th and weighed in at 396 pounds. I'm male, 5'10" 57 years old. My weight today on Christmas Day, is 344 pounds, resulting in a current weight loss of 52 pounds! I was cleared to start eating foods(Protein on…

My name is Hannah. I am 23 years old from the DFW area. I am 3 days post op. I had gastric bypass surgery on 12/16/16. My highest weight was 465 and I had to lose some weight before surgery, so when I weighed in on the day of surgery I was 419! I haven't weighed myself since surgery. I figured it probably wouldn't change much in just a few days. The only post op struggles I am having are gas pains. I also scared myself a bit when I drank Water the first time. I drank far too much and felt like I was dying. Not a fun feeling! I am a little hesitant about my journey. My boyfriend broke up with me right before surgery after spending the entire 8 months before helping m…

Hey guys, my name is Robin and I'm a brand new bariatric patient. I had the gastric sleeve performed four days ago, December 20th, 2016 in Coral Springs, FL. The reasons why are certainly familiar to all of us; I was tired of failing to be healthy and I decided to hard boot my life by removing will power from the weight loss equation. Day one was decent, actually. I'd hear horror stories about the pain, the constant vomiting and dry heaving, and I was prepared for the worst. Going into surgery I was given Zofran (an anti-emetic) through my IV, requested it upon waking, and then after I was transferred to my room, I received a shot of phenergen. There was never a point …

I am sticking to the diet but am feeling fatigue and still having trapped gas pain...i might sleep for a few hours but set my alarm to wake me to walk and drink/protien...i am finding that as little sips i take i feel it go down get a lil stall then pass through...discomfort but not terrible...im optimistic about being able to move around with less knee and back pain i plan on living!...…

... so I'm returning to this app after giving up on trying to add my birthday and age which I noticed from clicking random profiles... seem to be empty for a lot of people... I don't really know if I have a "story yet".... In about 30 minutes it will be Christmas Eve and on Monday of this week I completed my last appointment and have not been able to reach the scheduler since. Perhaps she took off for the holidays. Hello, I'm Rose, I'm 21 and live in Denton Texas. I just got the sleeve gastrectomy and duodenal switch done on 12/5. The surgery was a lot more painful than I originally expected. I was supposed to stay just overnight and ended up staying in the hospital for four days! And I had to get a drain put in that wasn't removed until 12/13. Since I've been home I'm still struggling with getting in all my liquids and Protein and I'm already supposed to start the purée diet Monday. I'm really anxious but excited about my journey and everything still to come. If anyone wants to be my friend so we can help each other along I'd greatly appreciate it. Anyone else get the vsg and ds d…

So had my one month post op and I'm down 27 pds! Stitches have healed nicely and I no longer feel as tired as I did at the beginning. In phase 3 of my diet, so now I can do soft foods finally! The challenges I've been experiencing have been constipation and making sure I'm hitting my Water goals. I'm in the middle of househunting too so things have been a bit crazed. So crazed that I have had to remind myself to eat, something that was never an issue before. All in all, happy to see the progress...tough getting sleeved during the holidays (11/21/16) but it was worth it! HW 243 SW 233 CW 206 - LET'S DO THIS!????

So my 17 year old daughter and I were talking last night and she said I'm obsessed with my weight..that it's all I think about that I'm suppose to be the person she looks up to..guess that means she doesn't at the moment..lol I told her I'm human..not perfect..and that weight has always been a sensitive issue for me. so three months ago my mind was made up. I was going to go through with weight loss surgery. at the time my bmi was 39.9 I was worried my insurance wouldn't cover it because besides my weight, I had no other medical issues. I didn't want to wait months just to find out I didn't get approved. I had decided I was going to take action. I was going to loose the most weight I can before surgery. just a little more than 4 months later and I'm 41 pounds down. I definitely do not qualify now and I'm ok with that. I still have 47 pounds to get to my goal weight but after loosing 41 pounds already, I have faith that I can continue. My mom is getting the surgery. she has a bmi o…

Hi I actually started this Bariatric Surgery in the beginning of 2013. I had the lap band put in July 2013. My HW ever was 255. My LW after the band was 225, and because I had problems with them getting me in the Green (Right) Zone. I couldn't lose anymore and as of the beginning of 2016 I was at my highest post Lap Band in 2013 which was 244.4. Considering to have a revision, I called my insurance company who said the maximum number of Bariatric Surgeries was 2, I decided to start the Process. I had my revision done in one day on Nov 14, 2016, the day after my 50th Birthday, at which time I was down to 231. Also, I actually almost backed out the day of surgery, bu…

I arrived in San Diego Thursday afternoon, picked up on time and taken to Marriott in TJ, Mexico. Friday AM hotel shuttled 4 of us to surgical clinic for OCC at 6:15 am. Entire process was very organized, very friendly staff and great Doctor who came in and chatted for about 10 mins to get to know me a bit. One patient had arrived late Wednesday so all her tests were done Thursday so she was first one for surgery while rest of got all our tests done and taken to our private rooms. I believe I went 2nd or 3rd (little after noon). In recovery around 1:30 for 30 mins then back to my room. This is now where I'm wondering if I had the surgery (I do have the 5 scars though) …

My brief story is that I was banded 6 years ago. Horrible tool. I lost about 40 lbs. and have gained back about 35.
