Hi all! I'm about 8 1/2 months out and down at least 180 pounds since my all time high and over 150 since surgery. Doing well for the most part. But a recent knee surgery has me sidelined. Went to Bariatric Doc today and am low on B12 and was chastised about not enough protein! So time to get on the Protein wagon big time. I restocked on essentials today and recommitting to 80 grams per day and a muscle building program. Doc says I am losing too much muscle. Anyway, here are the pics. Hi everyone! I've been lurking for awhile and decided to start contributing! I'm currently 19 days post op and doing pretty well! I've had a few days of "what the hell did I do?" but I'm keeping my eye on the prize! I've had very little issues, I can eat and drink with no problems and my Sleeve has tolerated different foods well! I started at 301 in July, was 271 on the morning of surgery and was 256 today so slowly losing! I start soft solids this Friday on my meal plan, I need help with that though, what are some meal ideas? My local group said it was anything you can cut with a fork but that's pretty broad!! Thanks!

So, my PCP suggested I see the surgeon. I am 225lbs 5'4. I have high blood pressure that I just can not seem to get under control with the medication. The medication makes me feel awful and I am on 3 different pills. My mother passed away from complications due to HTN at age 45 and the closer I get to 45 (I am 39), the more anxiety I have. Well, I saw the surgeon yesterday and he said I can start the process! I spoke with the Financial/Insurance person. She says I meet the criteria set by my insurance company (Aetna-Innovation Health). She said that it is a fairly simple process for my insurance company. I have to have a psych eval due to me taking Zoloft for anxiety (I a…

I'm a little more than 16 months out. My surgery was in July 2015. I was converting from lap band to gastric bypass. Best thing I ever did. I have PCOS with insulin resistance that lap band would never cure. My last update was at one year. I've made a little progress since then so I thought I would share. On the day of surgery, I weighed 275. At one year, I weighed 188. Today I weigh 174. I met with a plastic surgeon last summer who specializes with dramatic weight loss, but my insurance won't cover the lower body lift. At this point, I'm about to switch insurance anyway after switching jobs, so I'll try again in a few months. Ideally, I'd like to get to 150, howev…

I was hooked up with an IV then I met with my anesthesiologist ,my doctor and his team. At this time I said. My "see you laters" to my mother and grandfather. The anesthesia was then pushed thru to my iv and I was out. My mom said the surgury was very short to her. Hi! I'm just beginning my journey with the gastric sleeve. I had my first consultation with the surgeon on December 16th 2016 followed by my dietician, fitness eval, and psych eval a week later. Now I'm waiting on my upper endoscopy Thursday. My insurance keeps changing their requirements so I'm nervous to see how long my wait will be before approval. The waiting makes me incredibly anxious!! Also, while I've done most of my research and have my mind set on VSG, the longer I wait the more I keep debating that decision and wondering should I get the bypass. How did you decide? Snack 1 is broth, snack 2 is jello, snack 3 is a popsicle. Lots of tea, Water and 1 cup of am coffee. I kept the caffeine for the morning to function and asked my NUT. As of this post, I've lost 50 pounds! 25 of that was pre-surgery, and 25 is since surgery on Nov 14. Last night I went to a really fancy party in a really fancy dress. Other people say they see the loss, but for me, I really don't -- but I do feel it. I can walk so much more now. I don't get tired. And I'm definitely eating a ton less. I think I'll need to lose another 50 before I can actually recognize any change...we'll see!
