My 19 yr old daughter wrote this to me today on Facebook! I know now that I made the right decision! #momappreciation I just wanted to let everyone know how proud I am of my momma. She has lost so much weight and looks better than ever!! I'm sooooo proud of her! She went from overweight and unhealthy to all around healthy! If you ask me that's a very hard thing to do and I honestly probably couldn't do it myself! She's such an amazing person and I'm so proud to call her my mom! I don't know what I'd do without her! My mom is a one of a kind women and I hope that one day I can be a reflection of you. Even if I'm half the mom you are ill still consider myself blessed! I …

Yesterday was my birthday. Today a bunch of my friends and I are going out for drinks and dancing to celebrate. My friend asked me excitedly yesterday what I planned to wear. It dawned on me that I really hadn't thought about it. What am I going to wear? I have a few things that fit that don't make me feel gross. I wear the same things to work and out to dance. Same things to go grocery shopping. Clothes aren't fun. They used to be, and I've never been a small girl, so I don't really know when that changed. I don't know when I stopped thinking of clothes as fun, but I really am looking forward to a day when they do. I'll be getting sleeved in the next few months, and I t…

I finally got my surgery approved by Insurance. This has been a long process from having H Pylori on my EGD with two rounds of treatment to getting my family to support my decision. But I'm almost there with getting the time off from work to have my surgery on 3/16/2017. Reading all the post on here and seeing all the pictures make me want to hit my goal hard and stay in check. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello World, I am Keahsha Harris a Mother of one 5 year old girl, student obtaining my BS in Healthcare Management, a licensed nail tech BASICALLY a jack of all trades.I've contemplated about getting VSG for many years and finally decided last year this was the surgery for me. I've always been overweight starting at the tender age of 7 and I've tried many diets workout programs nutritional guidance and even played sports and I always ended up the heaviest of most. So to make a long story short I researched and asked many questions for approx. 6 years. I'm receiving my surgery abroad in Tijuana Mexico I'm going through Tijuana Bariatrics and my Surgeon is Fern…

Hi everyone! I need a little support today and thought if I shared my journey it would help. I had RNY in June 2015 at 248 and am currently 197. I got as low as 175 in March 2016 but then I had an internal hernia in April (a complication of gastric bypass that affects 5-10% of patients) and then put my rescue dog to sleep in May, which devastated me. I also took a vacation two months out, and had a hysterectomy in November 2015. So it's been a wild ride. I had all kinds of ideas about how I was going to live my life post surgery, and of course I was going to do everything right/perfectly. Ha! But I was 185 at my one year appointment, and my surgeon was pleased. I said I …

How's everyone doing? I'm a post op gastric bypass patient. Had surgery on the 13th, discharged on the 15th. Returned to the ER on the 17th for my mother. I've been a week post op and it's been nothing but back and forth to the hospital. To make matters worse, I live 30 miles away from the hospital. That is the closest hospital and 30 miles is only one way. Two nights ago my mother started suffering anxiety attacks at night and her oxygen goes dangerously low. She's on a bipap as now and even then has issues with her oxygen going down. Anyway tonight is my turn to spend the night with her, she's already had one attack tonight and someone not being with her makes her anxio…

I have not taken the time to share my story, as a matter of fact I have still not changed my Facebook pictures, or the ones of me at work. food. I believe I had an actual addiction to food, the same as an addict, I didn't see it as an issue... But now I realize that I had a problem. I eat to live now, instead of living to eat. The surgery helped by taking away the cravings, but I worry that if I reintroduce things like breads, fried foods, and other crap, I will develop the addiction again, just as if an alcoholic was to just have " 1 drink". It is a disease, with horrible side effects including low self confidence, depression, and humiliation. I have made it my mis…

Two months post surgery today and I'm feeling outstanding. As of today I no longer have any dietary restrictions which is fun because I'm ready to start introducing some fresh veggies into my diet. I'm so ready for a salad. My surgical incisions are barely visible and I'm ready to keep working towards my goals. The first month was super hard, the second was easier, I'm excited for the future. Some stats: I was 301 at my heaviest when I started my program in July 2016. I was 271 morning of surgery (12/30/16) and I'm 242 as of this morning. I was a size 22 and a 2XL when starting. I'm now in a 16 and a XL.

Ok first I have an awesome surgeon Dr. Tillquist at Sweedish Medical Center in Englewood Colorado. This has made a huge but healthy impact on my life. I can actually see the pounds quickly melting away. The surgery has reversed my type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I'm very excited to also loose my sleep apnea as well. I'm very thankful to my surgeon and my primary care physician and my wife who all have supported me through this whole process. Bring on the weight loss! Joe

Age: 34 Personality: INFJ Weight: 288 lbs Relationship status: Committed Location: Florida Health: Good, but not much stamina That's me, in a nutshell. My favorite thing to do is to travel and explore everything around me. I'm insatiably curious and love interacting with different cultures. I've traveled to several countries with various missionary and relief projects because I believe in spending my resources helping those less fortunate. I love hiking in the woods, zip-lining between mountains, scuba diving, getting intentionally lost in new cities on foot, and meeting new people. Skydiving is on my bucket list. I'm fiercely independent and stubbornness is my fa…

I was banded in august of 2015. Surgery went well and I was out of the hospital by the end of the day. I followed all of the diet stages properly and lost about 10 pounds in my first month. I was happy with that. In the following months I began to not feel any restriction, I could eat almost whatever I wanted. Honestly, I couldn't even tell I had a lap band inside of me. I went for fills and told the doctor I wasn't feeling any restrictions. 3 fills later and nothing has changed. Fast forward to December 2016, I get a letter in the mail from the department of justice informing me that the band placed inside of me was expired at the time of surgery. ummm what?! I…

My partner texted me that he wanted to go out for dinner tonight. My mind flooded at once with so many different thoughts: What if I can't find something on the menu that meets my diet restrictions? What if "something" goes wrong? How silly will I look as a large man claiming he's full after three bites? I was having a bad day and I didn't want to deal with this; I was having a bad day and I really could've used a glass of wine over a nice meal. So I made reservations and we went out. I did order that glass of wine, not entirely sure if I was "allowed to" yet. And Oh! that bread looked good, but I abstained. My partner had half the loaf and an appetizer while I s…

Hi all, I had my surgery in May of 2016, so far I have lost 68 lbs. I currently weigh 162 and still loosing. I have gone from a size 18/20 to a 12. I just can't believe how far I have come. I have tons more energy. I did not realize just how bad I felt until I got off all that sugar and got some weight off. The first month is the absolute worst, but if you can get through that you can do it, it gets better I promise. When you start seeing the pounds melt off it will all be worth it. Just remember "this too shall pass." It is very depressing to only eat 4 or 5 bites of food, but you will find yourself eating a little more as time goes on. Just don't forget what got you he…

Hi everyone! I guess I'll share a little about me... I'm 29, I'm married for the second time and we have a 14 month old that I'm running after 100% of the time when we're at home. I have PCOS and I'm diabetic. My current weight is 305 from my last doctor visit. I decided on the RNY procedure and I'm more excited than anything!! I had my consult on the last day in November, met with the psychiatrist, had my panel of blood tests done and my EDG is Thursday. The reality of all this is settling in and I'm pushing myself to get a grip on eating better pre-op so I have that mindset post op. I have a total of 3 weigh-ins and I'm on #2 today. It's not a ton left to do so I'm p…

Hi, I am so excited! I had originally posted 2 weeks prior to being sleeved 1/30/17. In August when I started this journey I weighed 233lbs and had a BMI of 41+ and had lost 30 lbs from 8/15/16 - 1/30/17. Now 3 weeks post sleeve my BMI is 32 & have lost another 17lbs Thankfully, I had no post op issues and I'm coming along very well. At 2 weeks post op my dr said I was losing 1 lb a day ! And I'm not hungry At this point my scale puts me at 184 ! I couldn't be happier ! I just keep thinking that I must stay focused and it will keep me motivated!
