Sleeved 2-15-17 Start weight 270 Preop 258 Current weight 245 My journey starts off very well extremely nervous going into surgery scared of the pain that was about to come my way waking up after surgery! To my surprise I had very little to no pain at all up on my feet walking within the first few hours, walked laps in the hallway every hour like clockwork for the first 48 hours in hospital! Met all my water and protein goals with no problems!! After discharged I had a little discomfort on right side of my stomach for a few days, and for some strange reason I could not sleep!! AT ALL!! I had this strange energy running through my body, every time I would sit or lay down …

I'm down 40 pounds, and almost to my 1st goal. According to my BMI, I'm still considered overweight but if I don't lose another pound, I will be just as content. Had an awesome NSV last week. Was talking to a stranger outside and was shivering from the cold. I had never met this person before so they had no idea what I looked like pre-sleeve and he said "well of course your cold, you're too skinny not to be"! First time in my life I've ever been called skinny!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi! I went in for my sleeve surgery 3/22. Followed the protocol to a T. I was soooooo excited! However when I woke up from anesthesia I was told they were unable to complete the surgery. The dr was able to do the 7 incisions in my abdomen, but upon trying to blow me up my BP nose dived to 50. They attempted 4 times total each time same outcome. No one is completely sure why other than to say maybe a reaction to the mess used. Dr gave me a new surgery date of June 21 and said he will use a different medicine. But now I am unsure if I want to risk it. Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so what did you do? I am SO undecided and disappointed. My husband says it's not…

Talk about rapid weight loss! Starting weight 249, current weight 206. Sleeved Jan 13th in Mexico by Dr. Jose Rodriguez. I feel great and am almost to goal weight. Recovery has been easy. I have zero stretch marks and couldn't be more pleased. I don't know what else to say other than this is a GAME CHANGER and you need to research no further just go get it done

  8. Okay I have been doing an ab challenge for just a couple of weeks that my son sent me in an email... along with my routine exercise as well as cardio. I just wanted to post a progress pic to show that I am getting a lil cut up in the abdomen area. This is a total NSV for me. I don't know why Bariatric patients weight loss is different than when a person who has not had surgery loses weight. I am 174 lbs and I know some people that say they are 160 or high 150's and I look as small if not smaller. Can't wait to see what I look like when I hit goal weight of 150 lbs. I Just wanted to share my pics with my BP FAM. Please excuse all the mail on my dresser in the second pic. I…

I just got back from a week away on vacation, my first vacation since having the VSG. We stayed at a beautiful all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic. And like being on a cruise, we were always surrounded by free food and drink. There's a lot I didn't do "right". I never made it to the gym (though I did swim every day and went kayaking once). I did indulge in alcohol, though never to a sloppy excess. And I did visit the dessert buffet on more than one occasion. But I also made an effort to emphasize Protein, and stop when full, and separate eating and drinking. I was constantly struck by how little I eat now -- just a few bites and I was full. I foun…

I had a Gastric Sleeve performed one month ago after repeated failures at diets and exercise. It was causing great strain in our marriage. I had heard so much positive feedback on Gastric Sleeve - even my own personal Physician had had it done. 98% of people get through with only minimal discomfort, and manageable pain and nausea. I was one of the 2% that didn't. I can't be totally sure in what order things happened, but I think I was given a minimalistic version of the truth. My surgery started out as laparoscopic. Firstly, I went into anaphylaxis from the anti-anaesthetic med in recovery. They had to do CPR till they could reverse it. I went off to ICU, where after…

It will be six years since my sleeve surgery in August. I have done very well and am not complaining but I have gained 15 pounds over the last couple years and I am trying to find a way to get myself mentally back on track. I know what I need to do but for some reason I always seem to defeat my own efforts. I am finding my mindset back to some of my old ways of thinking. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what advice do you have that helped you....Thanks

I thought before I would have trouble eating right, but believe me when I tell you the evil food that I use to love it’s not a problem don’t even want it like fry chicken, bread, and lots of sweets after all food is only a mind thing.

Hey guys, It's me again. So I'm about 1 month and some changed post op. I had the RNY. According to my scale I've lost 39 pounds since then. I'm still unable to eat solids. When I eat it feels like it's stuck in my esophagus and I have to make my self throw up to feel relief. I'm slowly but surely increasing my protein and water count so that's good. I haven't started exercising because I have no energy. Now, here's the problem I don't see or feel a difference. I look the same. My clothes fit the same. I'm starting to believe my scale is broken and I really didn't lose anything because this is ridiculous. To me 39 pounds is a big number. I would like to see something. …

I had the sleeve done 1/31/17 and just had my 2nd post op follow up Appt and I'm down 33lbs since surgery putting me at 53lbs overall in almost two months. I'm a polynesian dancer so I do hardcore cardio workouts with my team two hours twice a week and go to the gym 3-4 times a week. My goal is to be down by 170 lbs in 5 months. Seems like a lot in a short amount of time I know but my doctor is amazed by my progress already and said I'm on the right track. My question is does anyone else go by measurements instead of lbs? What are pros and cons? I'm keeping track of both! Left side of pics is in Oct 2016 and right side is about a week ago 3/10/17 53lbs down!

I've been so disappointed here lately that I didn't lose more. I went from a size 20 to a 14 and still at a 14. Still have my protein. Now I'm thinking about asking my Dr about sleeve revision. I see my friends that had the sleeve and they lost so much more weight and I know everyone is different but I was even more disappointed then. I hate to complain but has anyone else gone through this? And what do I do??

Well, I had my sleeve on 3-16-2016 and kinda had a difficult time. I ended up having a hiatal hernia repair as well. This has made it really hard for my to drink, everything is getting stuck in the middle of my chest. I know really I have been trying to increase my fluid intake but getting to 60 fl oz seems impossible at this point. I have not had any pain medication at this point today and feeling pretty good, no nausea. So I'm hoping this is the turning point for me! Good Luck anyone having their sleeve in the near future. Since then my weight has been climbing even though I try to watch what i eat and try to stay active. I've had both knees operated on and the pain keeps me from doing too much in the form of exercise. On surgery day I was 341 as of yesterday I am 284. That's a total of 57 pounds gone! I lost the total weight of my granddaughter!!! I feel amazing. I have stopped taking BP meds along with cholesterol meds. I am no longer pre diabetic as my A1C is 5.3. I'm so happy I did this. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Deciding to have gastric sleeve surgery has been a total godsend. It has reset my relationship with food. I now view food as fuel for my body, and nothing more. I don't have cravings. The "before" photo was right before my surgery last June. I weighed 330 pounds. I had sleep apnea, hypertension, advancing arthritis in both knees, asthma, and every day was painful and difficult. The after photo is me at 212 pounds, taken just recently. I still have about 50 pounds to go, but losing 123 pounds has been a true blessing. My blood pressure is normal without meds, sleep apnea greatly reduced, knees are feeling good. I am working out regularly - cardio, weights, and Pilates.
