Hi y'all, I'm seven weeks out on this rollercoaster. Its had its highs and its lows! I wanted to share some of my personal experiences so far, in case it is of help to anyone. To start off: I'm around 50% of the way to goal after 7 weeks and numerous inches lost. Which is amazing! But please bear in mind that I was a low BMI patient so I expect to lose slowly as I'm starting off nearer goal than many. I hope that I can make goal, but I know it will be hard work! It has been hard work so far! Sometimes I kinda miss eating whatever I want all the time, but my overarching emotion is RELIEF that I am freed from the tyranny of overeating and feeling like I need…

I am Bearguy. In the gay community, bears generally need to stick with specific types of crowds, clubs, social apps etc. A majority of the male gay community is not only looks and body obsessed, they tend to look past chubby and fat guys as anything other than fun fat friends. I use the expression "gay fat" from Will and Grace because the perception is true, and the non gay community, and my fitness instructor community, to them Im just a big guy. Through diet, spinning, and Zumba, I went from 280 to 228, then slowly crept back to 250 before my search for hernia mesh repair in my belly led me down the "sleeve" rabbit hole. I had no time for the torturous process insuranc…

I had my bypass done by Dr. Sprunger on 3/15/17. When I started this journey back in September 2016 I was 298lbs. After 6 months of MSWL I was 275lbs at my pre-op appointment. Although I had to deal with some pain and side affects from the Heparin shots from the hospital my journey has been pretty low key. Each day is a new trial and error process on whether or not I can tolerate the food I picked out for the day. This morning I weighed in at 213lbs and set a goal for myself to be down to 200lbs by my 3 month checkup on 6/19. If/when I hit my goal I will be down 75lbs in 3 months!! Sometimes I worry that I'm loosing too much too fast, anyone else have that fear??? SW 275…

Hello! So I was "sleeved" 8 days ago. Today I binged... badly. I'm supposed to be on liquids only as I am still in stage 1. I ate food, and not just food but junk food--chips and candy! I attribute this ill behavior to hormonal imbalance. Unfortunately, I have not had any negative side effects (yet) of my conscious-less gorge; but obviously this is a behavior I must terminate immediately. What are some of the consequences I have put in my path as a result of the overeating I did today? Any advice on how to stop myself from repeating this horrific behavior?

I had my gastric bypass surgery this last Jan 16th. I've had some minor startup problems and continue to have episodes where I just can't seem to eat for a few days, but other than that I'm feeling fine and am very happy that I decided to ask for help in my struggle to beat obesity. I live in the Netherlands so I'm used to measuring my weight in kilograms. Today my scales showed that I had lost 45.7 kg, and then I realized that that actually took me past the 100 lbs lost mark. How awesome! For my surgeon, the surgery will be considered a succes in just another 10 kgs, but personally I would really be happy if i manage to shed another 25 to 30 kgs from now. Seen the rate …

I started this journey after my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer at 35, my husbands grandfather passed, I was teach at a school where we had a school shooter, my grandfather passed and there morning we woke up after his funeral my husbands grandmother had passed all within 6 months. I have 10 nieces and nephews under the age of 10 and I had too much going for me not to get healthy. I had my first consultation in August and then surgery on January 6th. I am amazed at how well I feel, how much energy I have and that I am now training for a 5k! I have zero regrets about my decision to take back my life and learn to eat to live instead of living to eat. Hw: 342 Sw…

I almost didn't remember, and then at some point today it hit me: It's been two years since I had gastric sleeve surgery. Two years since I woke in post-op, so sleepy and sore and full of hope for a better life. And two years later, as I'm still learning how to be a person who is 147 lbs in this world instead of 264, I hit a new milestone. In Crossfit this morning, during a workout meant for the public at large (read: not just hard-core Crossfit types), I outran a number of people who are considerably younger and fitter than me. It wasn't a competition and by no means do I feel superior, but it was a small personal victory all the same. Because two years ago, I…

I had my sleeve on 4/26/17 and had my 4-6 week check-up yesterday afternoon. I've lost 35 pounds since my surgery weight, and 48 pounds since my starting weight. I was given my next diet plan of "Soft Foods" (ground beef/turkey/chicken, tuna, fish, fruits and veggies without skins and seeds, low-fat dairy, etc.) and officially cleared for physical activity. This morning I took a big, exciting step and signed up with my college's fitness center for a personal trainer! My boyfriend is going to be my workout buddy and we're currently slotted for 4 1-hr buddy sessions. It felt strangely liberating to be so honest on the paperwork saying, 'Hey I just had this major surger…

After surgery I had my surgery Gastric Bypass on 5/24 and was healing away. It took 6 days for a bowel movement and that was rough, the 2nd was worse. I have dice had the baby bowel softener to make things better (it has worked). Any suggestions for these hemorrhoids relief. They're so bad I had stopped taking pain meds but now I'm back on for the relief of this pain. I've used ice and heat and also bought the pillow with the hole. Anything else suggested would be fabulous.

Today I stepped on the scale and am 2 pounds down from yesterday. My BMI is now 39.6, which means I am no longer morbidly obese! (Extremely obese doesn't really sound that much better, but I'll take it! Lol!). To think, I was 52lbs over the "morbidly obese" line, and I really didn't have a CLUE that I was THAT big, and in that much danger for my health!

Why would anyone do this. I have had 17 years of pure hell and so excited to get this demon out of me tomorrow. I am heavier than I have ever been due to the fact I cannot eat ANYTHIng healthy - and stuck for years on crunchy food - anything that can dissolve. Unfortunately that means carbs carbs carbs. If I try to eat anything like salad, fruit, proteins, anything healthy i throw up - sometimes 3 times a meal. small portions - doesn't matter. 17 years of vomiting - hair fell out, teeth rotten from constant acid, acid reflux so bad I can sleep and vomit and choke myself in my sleep. Haven't been on a date in years because what is the point..... my surgeon wanted…

Ok maybe I'm an alarmest or basically not eating making me edgy so hoping some of you can give positive advice. Started diet Monday and lost 4 lbs til Thursday. Fri and today no loss!![emoji20]. I am getting all liquids in ...water/protein drink and Health Meal etc for dinner. Tracking cals and protein. I'm allotted 1200 cal per day but doing between 850-950. Maybe this is normal and just knowing that would help or if I'm doing something 'wrong' that I can tweek. If anyone has experienced this it sure would help. Thanks[emoji3]

Hello all, it's time to get my head back in the game.... In a nutshell, almost 5 years out of my Sleeve surgery. My highest weight loss was 108 Lbs down (scale @134 lbs), and at current time it's 82 down (scale @160 lbs.). It's time for me to get serious, again, before I blow this good thing. I've gone through all the highs and lows of the weight loss which comes with sleeve surgery. The highs were watching the scale every day as it plummeted and recording it with my iPhone. Being able to purchase and wear clothes that I thought were only for skinny, younger girls. Feeling more attractive, and working out like a fiend to keep my new shape. Loving the atte…

I have read alot of these articles before my surgery and thought i would be prepared for it when it was my turn, but it is so much harder than i thought. Watching my kids and hubby or my twin sis go out to eat or even my mom's cooking I miss, it is so hard. Most times I end up crying and breaking down. I know in the long run I will be so happy with my descision, right now it is just hard to see beyond this moment. Only 5 more days and I get to eat solid food. Feels like forever. I dont have the hunger for the foods it is all in my head but I haven't gotten ahold of myself yet. Hopefully eating solid foods again will calm me and make me feel more normal. Just being on all…

Been waiting for this day. My BMI is now calculated as " Healthy" on the charts!! I have been in the Morbidly Obese, Obese, and Overweight categories consistently for 20 years. Very excited and feel that I have achieved a great milestone! Here's me playing golf for the first time in my life. I suck at it but it was fun feeling good out there.

My gastric bypass surgery was 4 months ago--January 23rd 2017. Age: 22 Height: 5ft High weight: 220 Surgery weight: 214 Current weight: 158 Goal weight: 150 (so close!) I've tried to make a point of taking a picture when I hit a 10 pound weight loss mark. I had the surgery to avoid future comorbidities because with PCOS and hypothyroid issues (not to mention a whole list of family illnesses I'm at risk of) this surgery was my best chance of reaching a healthy weight and keeping it. Im not out of the woods yet! 4 months out and 8 pounds from my goal this process has been the hardest thing I've ever done. Here are a f…

Hello, I guess this is my introduction to the forum. I'm a 46 Y/O guy, about to go in for a revision to my RNY that was done a while back (exact date when I remember...) My new date is this coming Tuesday, May 30th, 2017. My first surgery was somewhat successful, but I guess I got tired of the restrictions and requirements after a while, and I started cheating more and more in my diet. I dropped down to around 300 lbs after starting at 618, my heaviest. A few years ago I had an accident, where I was left in a lot of pain, and since I didn't have insurance I left it go untreated, and that was the beginning of my weight gain, to where…

Hi my name is Kassandra and this is my journey. I just got home today from the hospital after getting gastric bypass. I have been struggling with weight for more than 10 years in the 200lb range. I reached my heaviest twice in my 20s and it was the second time that I knew I needed more help then I was getting through other diets and exercise programs. They helped but only a little. I worked on getting surgery once before but due to insurance issues it never happened but this time....this time it happened and as much as I hurt right now I know it will be worth it all. I started my journey at 285lbs and when I was weighed at the hospital I was at 255lbs. It's amazing how n…

I'm 5 months post-op and I'm down 131 pounds. Starting at 470 and now 339. For those who are on the fence about getting the surgery, or have just gotten it and are hoping it works for them, let me tell you, if you follow your doctor's advice, it will work. I hardly get hungry anymore and when I do and eat, I get full almost instantly. As soon as I do feel satisfied, I feel that I can't eat another bite, which is something I never experienced before having this surgery. In the past, even if I was full, I could keep eating and stuff myself. I know now, that if I did that I'd get nauseous so I STOP when my body tells me to. I have very few cravings too. This surger…

My defining moment was when I realized that I had gone up like 6 sizes in the last couple of years. I felt ashamed in pics and when I saw the bottom pic of how big I was at my aunts funeral, I cried. I have tried every diet known to man. Then one day I said to get something you never had you have to do something you never had. That's when I finally buckled down to take steps to do all pre req for surgery. I am so grateful that I have journeyed into this lifestyle. I started out in July 242 lbs. With the direction of the dietician consults, I managed to lose 23 lbs (242 down to 219) by my surgery date . The pic with the bonnet on left shows me 4 days after surgery and the…

Started out at 138 lost 10 lbs during preop phase. Weighed 227 day of surgery and now weigh 173 lbs. Lost 54 lBS since surgery on November 17th. My last progress pic was about 2 months ago so I'm a little smaller now. My kids are very proud of me and my daughter (15 yrs old) has been a little inspired and is also trying to eat healthier as she is like me with slower metabolism and gains weight easily, while my husband and son(18yrs old) can eat anything and remain skinny. My husband still buys me chocolates and my son throws them away and reminds him of how far I've come. They try to be as supportive as possible, I'm lucky in that aspect. My happiest moment was …

A year ago, I started this process. I had surgery on 8/31. The day I started at 258 pounds, on the day of surgery I weighed in at 241. I was wearing a size 20/22. Today, I am wearing a size 12, and down to 165. Still have about 30 more pounds to go, but so very happy with my decision and would do it again.

Today is my 100th day post-op. The surgery was on January 5th. I don't post much, but from what I've seen and read it appears this group is doing amazingly well. The pictures that many of you have published documenting your transformation are truly inspiring. At my last weigh in on December 21, 2016 at the doctor's office, I topped the scale at 326. A week later I began the one-week pre-op diet at 322. On the day of surgery I checked in at 309. 100 days later and fresh off a doctor visit yesterday, I am checking in at 247 pounds. There is still a long ways to go, but this is a 79 pound reduction since the first day of winter. Coup…
