I'm new to this but I really needed somewhere I could get information from. I had my surgery 3 days ago and everything went well. I left the hospital a little late due to my reaction to the pain medicine but I'm finally home. The only thing that worries me is this sharp pain I get in my chest. Once I try to burp or take a deep breathe it seems to go away but it's happening a lot. My taste buds have changed completely. Everything that is sugar free is someway too sweet for me. I'm having a hard time finding something I can actually eat.

Hi all! So I had my RNY on Tuesday & I want to tell my experience so far! I arrived at the hospital around 8:00 Tuesday morning & got all signed in. When they took me back to the pre-op area I was surprisingly calm. I think I felt this way because after 10 years of battling my weight, I know that this was it. I was finally going to be given the tools to be successful. No more exercising and dieting and not losing weight! My pulse was high for like 2 minutes only because they decided to take it when I got my Iv in, and IV needles freak me out haha. My family was brought back (mom, dad, boyfriend and 6 year old wild child brother). After waiting for about an hour a…

I feel very good considering I just had surgery 2 days ago. I've been able to eat jello, yogurt and plenty of fluids. Going to have creamy soup tonight. I have 6 incision sites and they look great. Dr Garth Davis said my surgery was Video perfect. I am so glad I don't have any drains. They removed a lap-band. It feels great to finally cross the hurdle of having the surgery done. The waiting and liquid diet had me very nervous. Sent from my SM-J700T1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi everyone. My name is Tim and I was just sleeved Friday (about 48 hours ago). I had a lap band which was removed and revised to the sleeve. It may be taboo but I have a question about pooping. I haven't had a bowel movement since my sleeve surgery. I just got back home last night (spent one night in the hospital) and have only passed gas so far. I have started taking miralax because I got really backed up once after a surgery and I never want to go through that pain again. I'm a little stressed about getting backed up. What's the normal amount of time after surgery for a person to poop? What do you recommend to take that can prevent getting constipated? Thank you

Today marks my one week post gastric sleeve surgery and I could not be happier! I am down 12 pounds this week. I am doing well getting 64 ounces of fluid in a day in reaching my goal of between 30 and 40 g of protein. I have been drinking the Premier protein shakes which are 30 g of protein and only 1 g of sugar. And then also I live on chicken and beef broth because I love it! I eat a lot of Popsicles and Jell-O neither of which are sugarfree base on my physician stating I needed a little bit of the sugar for the carbohydrates, as I am a diabetic. Or at least I was a diabetic before the surgery we will see how it goes. 12 pounds can truly make a huge difference as you ca…

Hardly anyone knows that i had weight-loss surgery...AGAIN! and even few people know that I went to Mexico to have my band to sleeve revision. I'm 5 days post-op. (June 8 2017). I'm not sure if I'm ready to recommend it to all of my friends yet...however...I followed their pre-op without a single cheat. I lost 23 pounds in the pre-op diet but even more importantly I have been pain free. No gas pains. No about pains. Flying home only 3 days post-op was excruciating but only because it was so exhausting. So I may be getting closer to recommending it. My insurance is great as long as you don't mention weight-loss surgery. So my lapband surgeon actually recommended Mexico an…

Hello, I had my Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy on March 20, 2017. My surgeon was Dr. William Arnold. My starting weight was 314 lbs, day of surgery I was 300 lbs, and today I am 258 lbs. All together I have lost 56 lbs total (42 lbs since my surgery on March 20th). Its been almost 3 months and I have had lots of changes. I sleep better, walk differently (my gait is now different), less foot and hip discomfort, blood pressure is much much better. My hair loss isn't really any different than it was prior to surgery. I have noticed I have an intolerance to dairy products since surgery - lots of bloating, cramping, gas and diarrhea after any type of dairy consumption. I …

I’ve been looking at this bariatric forum for many years and have appreciated the insight of the stories on here and thought I’d share the end of my lap band journey and my story might be helpful for anyone considering having theirs removed. Banded: April 2004, Dr Talbot, Sydney, Australia (79kgs at consult, 85 kgs at surgery) Unbanded: February 2017, Dr Ali, Glasgow, Scotland (85kgs) When I was banded I thought it would be a quick fix to weight loss and was advised to gain a few kilos to be eligible for the surgery. I wasn’t mentally prepared for the drastic lifestyle changes I would need to make and the band was not a success for me. My problem was binge eat…

Spoke to my surgeon and told me I need to balance protein and carbs. I take in about 70g of protein a day so I'm supposed to take in 70carbs a day as well and only eat when hungry. I had a giant suite with 2 full baths, a sitting room with a leather sectional and 60" flat screen...the bedroom had a lazy boy recliner and a 60" TV. It was as big as most hotel rooms you'll find and hardwood floors. The treatment I had was as good as any here in the US and yes, I had a private room, no sharing! I have been taken great care of and as of 5 weeks since surgery I've lost 70 pounds. I feel great and life is going better than it has in years. I started documenting my journey on Youtube an…

Today 229. Lost 18 inches in waist. Went from 6XL shirt to XL. No longer diabetic. No more insulin shots. No more Neuropathy or Sleep Apnea. I feel 100% better. Maybe this is all I can lose. Frustrated it's all came to a halt. Would've liked to hit my goal weight of 210. I am thankful for what I have lost. Going to keep trying thru the Summer. Maybe 180 lbs is all I can lose

Now I lift weights 5 days a week and I walk 45-60 minutes almost every day ( weather depending ) around my neighborhood, no walker, no problem doing it. I have started using the stairs as well. I hadn't had any gas pain at all and I haven't had any pain killers since leaving the hospital. Total day and night difference from my band surgery. So amazing testimonies...like... No gas pain No stomach pain Incisions healing well Can walk and move with no pain However...I got hit with bronchitis. This happened after the lapband surgery too. I went to my PCP a couple of weeks before surgery and said it felt like bronchitis coming in. She assured me it was just allergies. I can tell you now, definitely not allergies…

My highest weight was 332 pounds, my weight the day of surgery was 317. Surgery was hard, and recovery is harder. I'm taking it day by day I am trying my hardest to get in all of my fluids which my doctor tells me I need 64 ounces in a day and I have only managed about half of that. For me I find my saving grace is Popsicles! The gas pains are no joke! Today I was finally able to expel some gas and find a better of relief. Today, my personal goal is to try to get in more protein shakes than just water. To try to go for a little bit longer walk an…

I'm 53, currently weigh 334 (on my home scale--and that's what I'm going by!) My highest weight was 359 about a year and a half ago. Also a year and a half ago I swore I would never get WLS. It seemed contrary to all my convictions about being body positive, the ability to change eating habits, rejecting societal pressures for people (women, especially but no exclusively) to physical harm their bodies in order to diminish their presence, a lifetime of trying to be good enough just as I was...all that and more. So I went to the Bariatric…

I had my sleeve procedure on the 6th June 2017 (80% of the stomach was removed, with no complications) when I waked up I was in so much pain I literally had tears pouring out of my eyes while in the recovery unit, it was so bad that I also was shaking... however after getting some pain relief and forcing myself to walk within 30 min of leaving the recovery unit I could clearly see the pain is was due to the gases and my inability to move around. With some help of my lovely wife, I walked around the hospital for 45 min and it was the best thing I ever did. I went from 10/10 pain to 2-4/10, I continued that routine for the day and…

I had my sleeve surgery last July in Mexico. I'm almost at my one year mark and am hoping to be under 170. I've lost 60 pounds, abit dissapointed. But I have a huge Secret and I thought I would join a support group. I have kept my surgery a secret from EVERYONE, my husband, mom, sister, best friend do not know. I was able to fly to Mexico when my family were at the cottage, I told them I had to work. During that time I did it all alone and not telling anyone. It's hard to keep such a big secret about a major surgery. But I can't ever tell tell them. I'm hoping to get support. This is the first time I am reaching out.
