(Disclaimer before I begin: I am not "losing" weight, I am deflating. The word lost gives meaning that some things are found, and i don't want to find any of the lost weight, I know, so sounds weird right..lol) My name is Tonya, and I am a 43 year old mom of one and wife. I have been clinically morbid obese all my adult life. My "normal" weight should be 155lbs, but I have carried 250lbs, up until August 2015, when as a smoker, I ended up with sever pneumonia, and diagnosed with stage 2 COPD. My treatment consist of a lot of prednisone, and I quite smoking. My weight sky rocketed to 327lbs. I have always tried to lose weight with any new type of medication on the mar…

  3. Just wanted to introduce myself and share my progress with you all. My name is Melissa, I'm 41 years old and I had the gastric sleeve. I researched for months before deciding on a surgeon and then my PCP (my regular physician) researched as well. She was all for my using Dr Maytorena through Long Term WLS in Tijuana. My PCP was extremely pleased with the professionalism, the records I brought back to her including every test they ran, every medication i was given and the xray cd showing my leak test. She even says when I go back there for a visit I have to take her with me. Haha! I had an amazing experience overall. The facility was the cleanest I've been in, the staff w…

So, I originally spoke to my PCP about seeing a dietician or nutritionist 4 years ago when my weight started to really be an issue. At that time they kept giving me the run around and saying that they couldn't get an appointment or that they didn't have room for new paitents, ect. So I waited. For two years. While struggling on my own to figure out why I kept gaining weight. Now, at my highest weight previous to losing control of everything, I was 19 years old and about to give birth to my daughter. I weighed in at a whopping 133 lbs. By the time I asked to see a dietician for the first time I was 180ish. Two years of not knowing why I kept gaining weight, and trying ever…

Pre op day 6. Down 7 pounds. I'm not even hungry. I have 1 scoop of powder mixed with 1/2 bottle of Mocha Light Starbucks drink twice a day. Plus lots of strained soups. Or the triple zero Danon yogurt with PB2 powder. I cheated on day one and ate a small dinner. The first 48 hrs were killer. Today I was tempted with donuts and cookies and easily passed them up. Surgery in 8 more days. Hoping for a new life.

Hi everyone, My name is Emi, and I'm a 28 year old living (but not from) in New York State (not city). I have been so big for so long that I can't remember being thin or even having a remotely flat tummy. When I was about 12, my family and I moved to England, where life was less stressful, the food was of a better quality and well, life was better even if I didn't realize it. At first, I didn't want to move but after my first trip to Italy, I forgot all my issues about being so far from home (I'm originally from Georgia). My weight bounced up and down for a while, it decreased every time I went to Italy no matter how long I was there because of the amount of walking you …

I'll try to be as detailed as I can to help others about to go through this. My surgery was scheduled for this past Wednesday 12/21, I was told to go to the hospital at 7:30 AM. My wife had to take the kids to school so my mother brought me. No waiting, immediately they took me into the back to start getting ready, and my mom was able to come. They filled out some forms, put the IV in, gave me a shot of Heparin (blood-thinner) in my stomach (didn't hurt) and told me I'd get an additional shot every 8 hours until I got discharged. They gave me a few pills and some horrifically nasty stuff to drink (everything I had to drink in the hospital was terrible). Some of th…

I started this journey June of 2016. After switching surgeons and starting the process over in December I finally had my surgery on May 3rd 2017. I am so thankful I did my research and decided to go with my surgeon Dr. Rossidis. He truly is amazing and I am just so happy with how everything went. I am down a total of 59 lbs since January with my highest weight being 303. I knew I was overweight but I didn't see how my body really looked until I have done photo comparing. I still have a hard time seeing it in the mirror and I know it's still early but I am hoping my brain will catch up with my body sooner rather than later. I find myself asking all the time if I look okay …

It is coming off very slowly, dropped 5lbs within the last 3 weeks. Trying to eat veggies fruit and protein and upping my water intake. I have a caffeine problem, i like coffee too much. Started using organic 2% milk. Any suggestions or tips welcome. My downfall for regain was sweets and bread!!! I have eliminated bread again and pretty much down to no sweets again.

After preparing for a full year, I had the surgery on 01/07/15. I was feeling great until 6 days out when I began to have excruciating pain in my left shoulder that radiated down to my back. My surgeon told me to come back to the ER (a 1.5 hour journey for me). So, on 01/14/15, I was admitted to the hospital with a leak in my stomach. I was in the hospital for a week. Kaiser decided that a stent was the way to go, so on 01/16/15, I had a stent placed in my esophagus and stomach. I also had a PICC line placed in my arm. I was released to home on 01/23/15 and placed on TPN (total parental nutrition - basically nutrition from a bag through the PICC line in my arm). T…

Growing up I have always struggled with my weight. I was one out of 4 children and of course I took after my dad's side of the family so I was the biggest out of three siblings. When I say I was the biggest I wasn't overweight but at that time my siblings were very thin. As I grew up and became a adult I struggled continuously with various diets. I tried probably everything out on the market. I did loose weight but gained it back and then some occasionally. In 2000 I made the decision to get healthy for me. While my husband sat and ate ice cream and my kids enjoyed their goodies I stuck to my diet plan. Eventually shedding my weight to 169 lbs. Which I was fortun…

I was a fairly healthy 41 year old. However, my weight just kept going up and nothing seemed to work. My husband, sister, her husband, friend of the family, all have been sleeved with wonderful success. My BMI was only 35 but I had high blood pressure so I decided to go for it. Surgery was 4/27 and was done as an outpatient at a surgery center in Cincinnati, OH. Surgery went great, then two hours into recovery my numbers dropped. So I found a new doctor, she referred me to the best Bariatric surgeon ever and that changed my life forever. My highest weight was 308, starting my journey I was 283, April 28th, 2015 day of surgery I was 277 and today I am 177lbs. I will be seeing a plastic surgeon July 18th for a consult for skin removal. I have never felt so wonderful in my life like I do now. It's been an amazing journey so far, and I am living again.

  28. My weight loss surgery journey started when I had LapBand done in 2004 at the age of 19. I weighed 330 pounds the day of surgery. At 7 months post-op, I had lost down to 215. That is when my problems with the LapBand started! My port was placed right on my waist-line...One day, I was sitting at work and leaned forward and heard and felt a "pop". The button on my jeans had snapped my port in half!!! I had the port replaced at 9 months post-op. That was the end of my weight loss... I had all kinds of problems over the next 9+ years. I almost cried when I realized he can now fully hug me, not just part of me. My 2nd victory is being able to have a regular shower towel wrap around me and cover all my bits. Hi I started this journey in December 2016 at 316 lbs. My insurance requires a 4 month weight mgmt program with nutritionist and that I could not gain any weight. I have been on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and have only lost 8 lbs. I'm diabetic and I swear my metabolism is shot. Regardless of what I eat I seem to not be able to lose any significant weight. I have a lot of pain in both knees which need to be replaced and back pain. So exercising has been very limited for me. I'm getting nervous and excited at the same time. I can't wait to start this new lifestyle and hopefully eliminate some of the pain and medicine I currently take.

Is this to be expected so early? I barely eat a "decent meal" and always drinking liquids throughout the day so I know I am not overeating. My energy level is still very low but I am moving around through out the day as well. Can someone please shed some light on this? Also is there anyone who can recommended a laxative other than Miralax or Smooth Move? Neither works for me. Please help me and thank you in advance. I appreciate your feedback.

All was great, all went well until I started having liquid rising up my esophagus at night time. It turned out to be acid reflux, I had my band loosened a bit, and I went on my merry way. The acid reflux went away, and I was feeling great, except I gained about 30 pounds in the last 5-6 months. During this time, the liquid started coming back, it wasn't acidic (it didn't burn at all), so I was tested for H-Pylori - turns out I tested negative, but I was on a heavy dose of antibiotics…
