I am close now 36 hours until I am due in surgery. I am getting Super Nervous. Worried about dying on the table, worried about having the operation then not being able to enjoy food. Worried about what will happen in general to my way of life. Second-guessing myself if I'm ready. What if what if what if. It's very real now. In a way I think I'm also worried about actually losing the weight it's kind of like the movie Shawshank Redemption first the bars keep you in then the bars keep the world out. I think it's like that first the fat hold you back from experiencing the fullness of life then it becomes something to protect you from any negative experiences associated with a full life, if that makes any sense? Today I have all my clearances done! No more test, no more forms. Final Doctor visits done. All the i's dotted t's crossed. Now I wait. August 1st is the date. In a couple of days I will start my pre-surgery diet. I have found tremendous comfort in this forum among the successful stories of other people who have had vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I know it's not going to be easy I know it's going to be very difficult. I realize that this tool that I'm about to use to help restore my health and balance out my eating brings with it a host of challenges. Lifelong challenges. But I also realize that being obese is also incredibly hard and presents many more challenges and obstacles to my happiness on my health and well-being both physically and mentally. When I think of all the other challenges in my life and the things that I have overcome I know I can do this as well. Together we can do this! Most people aren't going to understand what we are going through so it's good that we all have this forum. Everyone seemed so friendly and supportive here! I would like to invite anyone to friend me if you want to. Height 5'11.5" HW 335+ (I had stopped weighting myself at one point) CW 313 GW 195 Hopefully I'll learn better how to use the Forum and make the cool little graphs and stuff. Hi nicnic1706 - I feel good being a part of this community, Even though I am a newbie. one of the biggest reasons that I think I joined it is to give me strength and comfort before and after surgery. It is good to know others are feeling some of the same emotions about it and it's good we can laugh about it right! I am sure a year from now we will say 'why was I worried?'

Good Luck with your VSG I am having my VSG on August 1st too! I am so excited and a little scared too if I am being honest. LOL
