My highest weight was 445 in January 2016, my surgery date was 09/20/16 and my weight was 407 day of surgery. As of today, 01/31/17, 133 days since surgery I have lost 151 lbs. I never thought "what I had lost" would surpass "what I needed to loose" so quickly. Only 149 lbs to goal. It seems so much more possible now. I take it one day at a time, one meal, one choice. I don't think about what I need to do tomorrow or that I need to loose "x" amount of weight by "y" date. I'm just thankful I'm alive and I'm moving forward. Hello, everyone. I'm Adrianne. I'm 48 and had my sleeve procedure done on 1/26/17. When I weighed in on the morning of my surgery, I was 232 lbs. I'm only 4'10," and have been carrying too much weight since puberty! My first night post-op was okay, but the next morning was bad! I had terrible nausea and couldn't keep down even the tiniest sip of fluid! I had to have two kinds of anti-nausea meds administered before I could drink. I had to stay a second night in the hospital until the doc was satisfied at my Fluid intake. I'm much better, now. Only, it's hard to be sipping fluids all day! I have to work on that, because I actually feel very hungry. This is going to be …

I decided last june 2016 to finally do something about my weight, seemed like i puffed and panted when trying to do thing i used to love. My kids could see at the beach it was a struggle to take long walks, i would have to rest, i have a 3 year old granddaughter and i just couldn't play with her like I wanted to, my knees, my back would be in constant pain. I went to the seminar in june. I weighed 290 lbs and started the process, following the nutrition guildline where hard writhing everything down but slowely things started to fall in place . In August 2016 my house burnt down and we lost everything that's when i really got serious no food, i started living on Peanut But…

Ok so I had the vertical sleeve on 1/11/17. I haven't seen many men posting here and would like to start this thread/group consisting of only guys. We lose weight differently than women and our bodies adjust differently. We eat differently and our mindset can be different as well. So guys let's see your before and after and help each other out with any advice, support, recipes, exercise, etc. that could motivate each other! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

****OFFICALLY WEIGHED IN AT THE SMALLEST WEIGHT I'VE EVER BEEN MY ADULT LIFE!!!**** I had to all caps that because one its super exciting and two.. Its my birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! I'm 25 today. I always told myself I would be where I wanted to be in life before 25 but go figure.. Didnt happen but I'm feeling wonderful and I have a wonderful life! Before surgery I weighed 276. When I went home 3 days later I weighed 286. Also.. today I'm 1 week post op!! Ive learned not to be ashamed of the numbers on the scale because it doesn't defined me as a person. I'm working towards new things and couldn't be more HAPPY!! Sorry if I'm over excited but my birthday is always a…

I'm still in my liquid phase (past the clear liquids phase) and move to puréed foods in a few days. I've been drinking Isopure Protein drinks, which contain 40g per bottle and that helps. But every time I try to add Protein powder to pudding, broth, etc. it just tastes awful and makes me feel sick. Any suggestions on easy ways to get protein in? I'm wondering if I could eat my normal broth, pudding, Jello as is and not add protein powder. Then get my protein through my Isopure drinks and Atkins Protein Drinks (20g per bottle) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm one week out, and I've decided that the worst part is not how much I miss solid food or how tired I am of Protein shakes, it's dealing with my various medications. Crushing pills and liquid form sounded so harmless. But my reasonably sized single-dose extended release pill is now a double-the-size three-times-a-day powdered misery more bitter than you can imagine. Chased by a mouthful of syrupy sweet liquid Priolosec. I also have some capsules that I have to pinch open for -- that's right -- more yummy powder! At least I've dropped the Children's Tylenol, which is worse than the Prilosec; it's a fruity (like bubble gum, not actual fruit) gooey gel designed to not …

I tried to post at the hospital but their firewall blocked my computers access. Everything went perfect. Down 20 lbs from my HW and 12.5 from my SW. I havent seen this number on the scale in 10 years. Even though I am still a little sore I tried on every item of clothing in my closet that had previously been either way too tight or just uncomfortable. Lol super fun!! I NEVER thought I'd say that I love getting on a scale. Every time I would go to the doctor's office, I was the person that would refused to be weighed. I didn't want the reminder that I was overweight when I know by looking in the mirror every day. Ever since I started the journey in June 2016, I've had to step on a scale. After surgery, I have weighed myself once a week. I now LOOK FORWARD to it. HW 6/2016 - 296 Day of Surgery 12/14/16 - 271 CW - 238 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ok I had surgery on 1/26 and honestly I know they tell you have to drink 64oz Water daily and to try and to have things like yogurt, cottage cheese, Protein shakes etc. But I can hardly get anything down. I literally have like 4 small spoons of yogurt in the morning is that enough? And at lunch maybe some broth a couple spoons as well. Last night was he first time I was able to drink some of a Protein shake. Is this normal? It will get better right? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had surgery 1/25/17. I arrived at the hospital earlier than originally planned. They originally scheduled me for a late surgery - 4pm. Four days before surgery, I got a call saying someone canceled and they were moving me up to 1pm. This of course changed my plans up tremendously and made prepping for surgery harder. I did the liquid diet for several days before surgery, and I became slightly unpleasant to deal with- especially the second day. But as the day before approached I did everything I was supposed to, remained on liquids, bathed with the special soap, drank as much as I could, threw away all my straws, no aspirin even though I had severe headaches, …

Hi Everyone, Thanks for reading. I have been banded for nearly 5 months now. I have lost 15kgs rather than the 25kgs I should have managed. I do not blame the band. I know exactly why my weightloss is not progressing. I am the worst sort of emotional eater and it has been a rough few months. I actually gave up trying to mind my eating at all. A kind of psychological self sabotage i think. Anything i wanted went in my mouth though in smaller quantities so I did not gain only stopped losing. Chocolate, ice cream, calorie containg drinks, i didn't care. I felt so stressed and depressed i told my self its okay, if getting out of bed and taking a shower are hard enough you d…

I'm a little confused, I went to my family doctor recently to talk about gastric sleeve. She agreed that she liked the research i had put in to it and refereed me to the Ontario Baratric network. After some ups and downs i finally got an orientation date Nov 30th. I got my info package in the mail today and it says "thank you for contacting us about gastric bypass sugrey" Someone else on this website said they just dont do sleeves in Toronto. Now i really much rather not have to pay for sleeve operation, but all my research has been there. for some reason bypass scares me even more then a sleeve. has anyone else gone though this? has anyone convinced them to do a slee…

Hi everyone. I had my surgery Sept. 2, 2014. Before surgery I had weighed in at 400 lbs and was on 3 blood pressure meds. It is now been a little over a year and i am down to 296 and no meds. I feel great but feel i could feel better and have lost more. I know i have kinda gone inactive as i work from home in my own business. As well as probably not eating very well. I do still over eat sometimes cause i get sick which sucks but i watch it the next time. Im looking to get some help trying to get back into the swing of things. Cheap recipes would be welcome if you have some. I went the other day and bought healthy stuff and it cost 315.00 for about a weeks…

I'm only 1 week post-op and I've followed my diet and walking 100%. Last night I went to my brother and sister-in-law's house to watch a movie and they had pizza. I didn't dare look at it but all I could think was "So I wonder at what point can I take a bite of pizza? Will it be bad? Surely a small bite can't hurt 6 months from now!" I'm staying with my parents until I make the trip home tomorrow and they made gluten free Pasta tonight. (My mom has celiac) In the past I wouldn't think much of GF pasta but tonight I'm craving it SO bad! The smell is making my stomach growl bc it smells so delicious. So I am 23 days post-op from having the roux-en Y and vagotomy. I weighed in at 217 the day of surgery. I was relatively comfortable my weight...or resigned to it at least. You see, I didn't have my surgery for weight loss. I had 2 serious,non-healing ulcers. I had to have the surgery to get them removed to avoid them turning into stomach cancer. Now, don't get me wrong, the idea of losing some weight was also very attractive to me. I had no problems getting insurance to cover my surgery which was a plus. So here I am. I have lost roughly 41 pds so far. I lost the first 30 so fast it was scary. I am trying very hard to figure this diet thing out. I haven't had the pleasur…

Hi all. I'm very excited. I have just got home from seeing my surgeon. He has given me a date : 14 September 2017. I am getting the sleeve done. He said I should expect to lose 33kg or so. Said I shouldnt find it too difficult. And as my start weight isn't too high and if I can keep it at this weight I will only have to do one week of pre op diet. I'm so happy that I finally have a direction set. I feel like I will be able to get my life together and sorted. I will finally be able to resume my life that's been on hold for a few years now. Due to chronic pain, I've given up my love of bush walking... And weight just kept stacking on. I can't wait to not be in so mu…

Hey everyone, my name is Frank. I'm 29 years old and I'm a paramedic in the Tampa Bay Area. I'm currently 326lbs and was 356lbs at my heaviest. At 6'3" I carry the weight a little better than some are capable of doing so when I talk about getting the sleeve done a lot of people seem surprised and try to discourage me from doing it. These people never saw me at 220lbs 10 years ago and I was a stud. A femur fracture and some tough events in my life lead to a steady weight gain and I've battled with it for some time now. Back in August 2016 I did my research and made the decision to move forward with my decision to get a VSG. My surgeon is Dr. Richard Gordon out of Largo, FL…

I have been that person that has to weigh daily. Now I'm trying to stop that. I know I'm eating according to my personalized plan from my nutritionist. I work out regularly . Inches are coming off. All I need to do is stop obsessing about the number on the scale. With that being said the scale will no longer be out in the open in the bathroom so I am not tempted to jump on it. So long scale. Hey everyone! I'm officially excited now for surgery! My friends and coworkers have been asking me for weeks if I was excited and I told them that I'm mentally preparing myself to be hungry and dehydrated the morning of. Now we're at the final hours and I'm stoked! Unfortunately, I don't think I lost a lot of weight before the surgetu. My last weigh in, I was down 10lbs. I've been on the Optifast 900 for 3 weeks. I work anywhere between 10-16hrs per day so it was hard to consume so little when I'm working for so long. It got better on the final week. Kind of wish I had more time. I hope it's enough and my surgery is a success! Wish me luck everyone! So glad to be a part…

Today I celebrate 8 weeks post surgery for gastric sleeve. As of today, 30.5 lbs gone. I'm feeling so much lighter and it's just easier to move around with a smaller body. At this point, I'm on regular food, eating about 1/2 to 3/4 cup food at a meal, eating 4 to 5 times a day and drinking water in between. Still concentrating on protein and staying hydrated. I have some days when I feel a little 'off,' when nothing sounds good to eat. As another person said in a post, that it feels like aliens have taken over her taste buds and stomach. It feels like that sometimes right now. But, I have heard that this is a phase that will pass, so I'm not worried. I have continued to…

I found this idea on Pinterest and I tried to make them tonight. Major fail. Not sure what order I should add the Protein powder but I put the protein powder and Jello mix into a bowl then added the boiling Water to mix it. It turned into one big chunky, almost rubbery, mess. Yesterday I weighed in a 185.2, which puts my BMI at 29.9. So I am now officially only "overweight". Woohoo! Even though it's only been 2 months and 12 pounds since my last set of progress pics, I had my husband go ahead and take new ones for this major milestone. The statistics were against me. I went to the hospital completely unsure if I would have the courage to go through with my surgery, and terrified I would die. No one... I promise you, NO ONE, ever wanted to have bariatric surgery less than I. I was an emotional food addict whose life had shrunk so much that food was my entire social life. I weighed 367.8 pounds, had out of control diabetes, and could no longer walk across my own kitchen on most days. I needed both knees replaced and my doctor refused to do it until I lost a lot of weight. The night before my surgery I was alone in the house and I sobbed a funeral dirge for my best friend, food. I was certain I would l…
