Still intrigued by the smell of food I can't have

I'm only 1 week post-op and I've followed my diet and walking 100%. Last night I went to my brother and sister-in-law's house to watch a movie and they had pizza. I didn't dare look at it but all I could think was "So I wonder at what point can I take a bite of pizza? Will it be bad? Surely a small bite can't hurt 6 months from now!"

I'm staying with my parents until I make the trip home tomorrow and they made gluten free Pasta tonight. (My mom has celiac) In the past I wouldn't think much of GF pasta but tonight I'm craving it SO bad! The smell is making my stomach growl bc it smells so delicious. I had to take my chicken broth and go sit in my room with the door closed.

I'm afraid that if I'm having these urges/thoughts now, it will only get worse. Anyone else experience this?

I have to cook every day for my husband and son, and the cravings can be awful. I am one week post-op... the day after my surgery, the floor staff in my hospital ward ordered pizza - thanks to the aroma, it was all I could think about for the next day and a half. Then I got home and between cooking for my family and watching TV commercials and reading descriptions of food in the books I read and recipes on Facebook... I am now craving bacon, a cheeseburger, salad, french fries, mozzarella cheese, fruit of all sorts, broiled seafood and a chicken philly. :-P

Craving has mainly been A Wendy's Hamburger!! I have thought of every menu possible!!! Surgery was December 22nd 2016. I have found that solid foods are not staying down, so I'm still on liquids!! Doctor says it takes some people longer!! Beginning weight was 336!! I've lost 42 pounds in one month! I'm about to start Water aerobics!! I'm praying for control!

Yes me too! I had my sleeve done this past Thursday. What a struggle? I get emotional when I see anyone eating REAL food. So depressing. I understand exactly what you're going thru...not alone

I had to deal with a similar issue last night. My dad ordered 3 different medium Dominos pizzas ( 2 of them were my favorite of course lol) I was initially upset because he knows I just got my surgery a week ago. I stayed away from it and had my tuna instead, as i thought about it i came to the conclusion that obviously I can't change the way other people eat and it wouldn't be fair to tell them they can't eat the Foods they normally eat because I want them. I had to think about it and say to myself is this slice of pizza really worth my health and happiness?.

Dont worry about it! Remember why you did this, Your going to do great!

@@KitsuneMiko you are totally right! pizza (and of course many other foods) were my weakness and ultimately led me to obesity. I can't be mad at anyone else except have confidence in myself and take it one meal at a time! I'd say 1 day at a time but sometimes it's taking it hour by hour. Thank you for all the support!
