Hi everyone! I had to search for some older pics because I never allow my picture to be taken, but I found a couple to put next to one from yesterday. It will be a year post-surgery on Dec 30th and I made my first goal... 100lbs down from surgery day. Woooooooo! I was 369 on surgery day and today I got 263lbs. I can't even believe it. I also had my one-year follow up with my doctor today and she was estatic with my progress. I went from a 58 BMI to 38 BMI. I has been a long journey and I'm no where near done, but I am, for the first time in a very, very long time, happy :') Sent from my Moto G (4) using the BariatricPal App

I am 4 days post opp, surgery date 12/15/16, im 90% back to normal, i.e doing everything except driving, i dont plan on doing that for another week or so, i have also learned what size sipt to take and have developed a method of patting my chest, (similar to patting a babys back during feeding) when i feel pain w/ my liquids ; However, im extremely hungry & my cravings are through the roof, to the point that its making me argumentative with my loved ones! Im trying hard to stick with the liquid diet because my dr. Is in Tijuana Mexico & my life & success depends on lettin my body heal and follow the week by week meal plan! Hi everybody, I am now 55 years old and live in Hamburg, Germany. I was a chubby kid, a fat teenager and an even fatter adult. When I was younger, it was not quite so bad, as I was quite active but as the weight ballooned, it got increasingly difficult so I was less mobile but not eating less. In the end I weighed 130 kgs at a height of 163 cm. Finally admitting that I could not hack it alone was the hardest part. Here in Germany, we have certified obesity centres, specialising in bariatric surgery and everything that entails. Our health insurance will pay, however, you must jump through many hoops before they will approve. At the time I was not happy with that, had I…

I know this may sound silly to some. But I love my butt. I know she and I have to part ways after surgery somewhat ???? But I'm trying to keep some of her with me always. Squats improve this chance of having a nice bottom so I'm trying to figure out how long before one can do squats considering squats aren't a strenuous exercise. I know I'm gonna have to ask the doctor but I'm just wondering if my sleeve buddies out there can help me figure this one out.

Hi! Newbie. Just had my sleeve done on November 17th. Everything is going great except now that I'm eating real food I'm suppose to be taking my Vitamins. I'm having a real hard time with this. Not only do they fill me up. But they taste HORRIBLE! I can stomach the Calcium and B12. But the multi-vitamins are gag worthy. I have tried Bariatric Advantage and Bariatric fusion tablets and chewables. All seem to make me want to throw up and one did. I need my vitamins. Any other suggestions from anyone? Hypnosis??? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My sw-442 surgery date-7/26/16 (Gastric bypass) current weight-298 I still have such a ways to go but I am loving my journey to my goal weight of 199. I honestly have no complaints and I am starting to enjoy exercises and jogging. I'm so glad I decided to do this.

I'm 12 days into my pre-surgical liver shrinking diet and down 24 lbs as of this morning. It hasn't been easy, but I promised myself I wouldn't cheat at all. I'm eating between 550 and 750 calories a day, and it's brutal. It's weird, I don't feel hungry at all, I just get these cravings for my favorite foods. Trying to drink a lot of Water to ignore it. Getting irritable more than I'd like, but my surgery is this Wednesday so at least after that I can eat again (eventually). It doesn't help that I'm coming down with a cold and I'm totally paranoid that they'll cancel my surgery if I don't get better - I don't know if I can do this again.

Hey y'all. I'm 18 days post op and I'm down 19 lbs. Yay? I honestly feel I should be farther along than I am. I have followed all guidelines and required foods.... I just started my pureed/soft food diet 5 days ago.. Now I think I'm hungry....all the time. I know it's just in my head......i think.... Sent from my SM-N930V using the BariatricPal App

Hello everyone! I've been a bigger person for most of my life and I've tried nearly every diet on the market. I was 450 lbs when I got married and my wife was roughly 350 lbs. She eventually had gastric sleeve surgery and we divorced so she could start "her whole new life". I, on the other hand, fell into a deep depression, became a recluse, and my weight exploded up to 660 lbs as I was heartbroken and emotionally eating myself to death. I was in so much physical pain I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes. Finally 3 years ago I started doing a low carb/high Protein diet, and 5 minute walks which eventually increased to over an hour. Now my weight is d…

Sleeved on 11/21. Beth Israel (BIDMC) in Boston. Wednesday will be my 30 day anniversary. That FLEW by... I mean, FLEW by. I can't believe it's been 30 days this week. Anyway... My pre-surgery weight was 348 (11/1) My surgery weight was 339 (11/21) As if 12/18, I'm 316. Total weight loss as of 12/18 - 32 lbs. The journey started off a little bumpy. This whole thing started back in 2014 when it was recommended by my primary that I should look into surgery. My wife balked as she stated it was "dangerous" and was concerned that it would be something too "risky". We actually attended a seminar and I was impressed with the advances, but my wife was still c…

Hi everyone, I'm completely new here, starting out my Bariatric process. I'm 21 and 270lbs, and I'm out of Ohio. I first went to a seminar that was from my university's physician network. I met a surgeon there, Dr. Joon Shim. After that, I went to my PCP and got a referral. Then I met with Dr. Shim, who was incredibly kind and helpful. I definitely want her to be my surgeon. For the surgery itself, I'm looking at the RNY, or gastric bypass. Tomorrow I go to get my upper GI stuff done, and I have yet to hear from the nutritionist and psychologist I have to meet with. Then I'm not sure what happens. I have Anthem BCBS out of Ohio. I hope I don't have to do the 6 month physi…

I figured this would be a good place to chronicle my experience and steps. It feels comforting to know that I found a community with other people who have done the same thing, as well are going through it now. My journey has been a long one, I started this process back at the end of 2014 and having surgery next week. A mixture of turning 26 / finding insurance / anxiety and many other things have made this quite the long journey! I am sorry for rambling! I am very excited to be here but a bit shy. I have surgery on June 8, 2016 in Tampa Florida. I have been put on a two week diet of 2 8oz Protein drinks a day, 1 4oz solid protein and 1/2 of leafy green vegetables a d…

...so I am doing the 3 month followed diet after some issues with the primary physician I had (he got angry with me when I told him I wanted the sleeve) I found a weight loss clinic and decided to try out adipex I could see where this would help weight loss but I see alot of people on that yoyo when they stop taking it and I don't want that. So I continued on got a new pcp who is totally on board with the surgery but did however tell me to continue with that clinic for my 3months diet he said he will sign all my approval papers soon as I need them. Although I'm a little concerned he said I could lose all the weight I want and still get the surgery but when I did my nutri…

Hello, I got my band on November 14th. I didn't follow protocol and eat liquid diet. My weight has remained steady at 260 lbs even 3 weeks after surgery. There is no restriction on my band yet. I do get a lot of gas and burps which never happened before. I have to chew real well or things will get stuck. I'm trying to keep a good attitude but afraid this might Not work. I do eat less but not eating correctly. Will acid reflux go away? I get CCS on Dec 21. Hopefully restriction will help.me be more disciplined. I am able to go to work like normal. It doesn't change too much in my life other than I eat extremely slow. Kind of nice to enjoy a good healthy meal that ta…

Arrived around 6:30 am with 4 others. One patient had all her pre-op texts done yesterday so she was first. Rest of us then followed with all our tests., I went in around noon. After was moved out of surgery room into small recovery section where I woke up 1:15 and after 30 mins there moved to my private suite. Nurses come in and check up and then asked me to walk the halls. As of now the only discomfort if feeling like I have stomach ache. We shall see as day progres…

Hello Everyone, I was sleeved on 10/10/2016. My first week post op was the hardest I couldn't sleep in my bed and the gas pain were terrible. Its 12/15 and I am 224 I started at 260 post op it is so rewarding but my Gerd is terrible everything makes me belch and I mean everything gerd meds don't really help. I do have a time getting all my fluids in daily. But my over all experience is great. I really could stomach alot of Protein so I try to get my protein in by eating which is still hard since 5 bites of food fills you up. Loving the weightless and all the attention from Co workers so far it a very positive experience. I do miss eating like regular folks but I wouldn't …

OK so I have been thinking of having the surgery for the last 5 years. As a 43 year old male I have consistently maintained a weight between 285 and 300 pounds for the last 7 years. Finally decided this year to do it. Blood pressure is a little high and I do not have (nor want) diabetes would be happy with 205 or less Surgery was scheduled for 12/13. I worked the night before the procedure and it was not that bad. Had my last sip of Clear Liquids at 00:01 and had not eaten solid foods for a day. got off work at 0615 and was in surgery by 0730. Pre-surgery was typical, IV fluids, versed, gas then that is all you remember. Anesthesia really affects me so I was p…

I had an update appointment with my surgeon today and I went over what I had left to complete. Have to get my letter of "recomendation" from my primary, and my psych eval on Monday! It's surreal that this is actually going to happen. My manager has blessed my personal leave as long as I can get coverage for my weekends and my coworkers are happy to help. I'm just so excited as this gets closer, 90 day apt Jan4th, then I go on vacation, and surgery will be sometime in November!

I'm 189 today, down a total of 104 lbs. Tomorrow is my 8 month Surgiversary. My goal before surgery was 185. It would set me into the 'overweight' category, a BMI of 29. It's my lowest adult weight, ever. I have ridden around 250 for most of it, jetting to 293 at my highest. But in 4 pounds, I'll make that goal. I'm squeezing into sz 12s from sz 24s, by my surgeon’s and everyone else’s standards, I am a success story. But it doesn’t feel like it. I'm happy with my progress. I struggled with so much fear before and after surgery, that I'd stall out places I'd been before in my life. 240. 220. I never thought I'd see 200, but, I hoped when I got surgery that I w…

My RNY gastric bypass surgery is December 13! I'm excited, nervous, and scared all at the same time. After all the doctor appointments and tests I am finally cleared for surgery. I have told really no one except my husband, parents, and my aunt who is my best friend. I really thought everyone would be happy for me..... I was wrong. My husband is the only supportive person. Negativity is all I have heard from my parents and aunt. Due to that only my husband knows the date. The comments my parents and aunt have made has only made me more nervous and question if this is a good decision. I have been told I need to work harder to lose weight, I am taking the easy way out, and …

Hi, I had my surgery on 11/10/16 - exactly one month & one day ago. I am doing quite well. But it was not the walk in the park I had planned. You see, I was one of the lucky less than 5% of all sleeve patients that have surgical complications. I had a bleed. My surgeon came up to my room to check on me, this is actually the first I recall since going under. Seems to me there were a lot of people there & discussion on my blood pressure & pulse. Once the windpipe was removed, I just said "pressure". The doctor looked at me & said "we have to go back in" - I saw my husband & daughter & said I was scared. My husband said "you are in the best …

My name is Patricia. I have been on here for a while, bir never told my full story that me here. I apologize if this is too long. I started struggling with my weight at 17 years old. Before that I always stayed between 130 & 145 lbs. I got pregnant at 16, during which time I gained approx 50 lbs. I only lost about 10 lbs after giving birth which left me at 186 lbs at 17. I tried everything to lose the weight but nothing worked. I was in a relationship for 2 years that ended badly. I literally could not eat or sleep. My weight went down to 160 lbs in 3 months. I was happy with it, but then got pregnant again at 20. I have had 4 children. Each one adding more we…
