Well, it's been a hectic journey so far. I'm 6'2" tall. When I started, my weight was 495. I had to complete 6 months of appointments with a nutritionist. Done. I have been scheduled for my surgery on 8/8/16. As of now, with just watching my food, and some exercise, I'm at 450. A small win for me as I have not lost weight in about 12 to 15 years, although I've tried!! I'm looking forward to the next phase of this journey! Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App

Hello Sleevers! I tried to search for this specific thread but didn't find anything. I will be 4 weeks post op Thursday. I have a workout regimen of high incline & high speed 30 mins treadmill walk everyday and I'm healing really well. My doctor cleared me for regular exercise so I began strength training today (squats & arm workouts so far) but I was curious about using a floor ab roller and crunches. Is it too early? Please share your experiences. Much appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello folks! I had my sleeve three months ago and want to post my progress. Here's the stats: Highest weight- 380 Start weight-365 Surgery weight-351 Current weight-275 First of all I cannot believe I have lost over 100 pounds since my all time high. I used to think that if I could get down to 280 and stay there then is be happy. But I could never get down under 300 in all my weight loss attempts over the last 15 years. I used to see 275 as normal overweight! Now I'm dead set on getting to 200. I exercise daily by walking and biking and plan To step it up once I have my knee surgery. I walk a lot even though my knee is in great pain sometimes. Most days/tim…

I ate a small piece of meat 6 days after surgery. 3 days after I ate a small taco. What can happen to me? My friend says they probably didn't do my surgery right if I was able to eat. What do you guys think? Mind you I wasn't able to eat for the first 5 days.

I am beyond nervous and excited for the upcoming day. I have been counting down and been beyond prepared for this. I did 6 months of medically supervised classes. I finished my binder class which gives me all the diet plans and stuff for after surgery. But a part of me is so scared. I'm scared this won't work. That my last resort for making myself health and now over weight will fail. Even if I follow everything to the letter. My best friend is having a gastric sleeve done right before me. But the horrible part of it is I'm worried she will get better results and I will resent her for it. Which I know I shouldn't because she's my best friend. I feel like I'm the only …

I had surgery on wed. The 3rd. 1st day was hard. 2nd day was a tad better. Worst part was the gas pain and spasms. Pain is zero to none as far as incisions, and pain itself. Spasms, a little, when drinking my cold protien shake. I have had trouble getting my 64 oz of Water and required program. Today I've barely managed 24 oz of water and 1 protien shake. A become full quickly. My taste buds feel like they have been burned. Numb. Bland. How long does that last? Looking to see if anyone has any wncouraging words or advice. So, here are a few things I wish I had known before I had my surgery (I was sleeved 5/23/16): The gas...oh my goodness, the gas. It hurts, it stinks, and sometimes you can't trust a fart. Lovely. Surgery doesn't make it easier to lose weight. It actually makes it more complicated! Protein, carbs, sugar, fat...It's all scientific now. If I don't get my protein, I hold Fluid and don't lose weight. If I eat sugar, I don't lose weight. If I don't get all my Water for the day, I feel hungry, tired, and--you guessed it--I don't lose weight. I even landed in the ER getting 4 bags of fluid and a CT scan to check for complications. And my insurance got a bill for $7,000. Afte…

Hi - I've posted something like this before, but did not get many responses. I was sleeved exactly two weeks ago (7/18). I have not been able to even get a bite of food, sip of Protein shake, etc. in for DAYS. I'm talking like, maybe I've consumed 200 calories over a 6-8 day span. I went to my surgeon on Thursday and he seemed like he barely cared. He was just excited that I lost weight (surgery weight was 230 and my weight on Thursday was 215) and that my incision (I had a single incision through my belly button) looked good. He told me to just keep trying on the food. I feel like this is not normal. I throw up bile almost every day and I can't stand the sight of food,…

I am having surgery in a few weeks and I am wondering how long it took before you could go back to work. I was told 4-6 weeks but my friend had the sleeve and said she felt good after 1 week. I don't want to have my coworkers know so I am planning on only taking 1 week vacation time. Is this unreasonable? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

6 days left my sleeve is scheduled for August 8 & I'm full of anxiety! But this surgery is so long over due! I did the majority of my clearances last year & got denied in the end due to unforeseen circumstances. But I am NOT a quitter! I corrected my issues , found a new surgeon that takes my insurance , and went through the process all over again. If I am really determined to succeed I will. July 4 Aug 8

As of today I have lost 200lbs. I started at 439 and today 239. My goal was to reach 239 by April 1st, but with God's help, hard work at the gym by burning 2000 - 2100 calories a day in cardio and weightlifting and eating around 1100 to 1200 calories a day i have hit my goal much earlier than expected. I'm so proud of myself because i haven't weighed under 250 since i was 13 years old and I'm 38 now. For anyone thinking they can't lose the weight use my story as inspiration because it can be done, and i will help anyone that wants to try. I have to thank my husband and kids for keeping me focused everyday and loving me. I also can't forget the rest of my family, who has a…

Just left the doctors office (sitting in the car). I don't know what to think but I'm devastated! Going into surgery into surgery I weighed 222pds. This morning as I stated in a previous post my scale had me down to 208-209(dial style scale). At the doctor their scales (with my clothes and everything) had me at 218!! That means only 4lbs weight loss in 3 weeks?! I'm already in my feelings because I didn't lose any weight due to a stall and now this. The doctor said "well you highest weight was 238, so you're 20lbs down. Be happy". I would certainly be happy if it were 20 lbs down since surgery but I lost the majority of weight from my pre-op diet. Please give sug…

Hello Sleevers, I woke up this morning excited to weigh in on my 3rd week mark. I made sure I went to the bathroom first, stood in my birthday suit & went to face the truth on the scale. I was confident that I'd at least lose 3 pounds... Well, I was the same weight from what I've weighed last week (208 lbs)! I've heard of the stories about the infamous 3rd week stall but I was sure it wouldn't happen to meet. It put me in a really sad place because I'm so looking forward to the numbers going down. I was a low bmi (35) so the weight hasn't been coming off as fast/much as some others in forums that I've read. Today is also my 3 week post op visit later on. Just…

Hey everyone, I don't know what made me write this but I just felt like telling everyone my story because when I was pre-op I scoured the forums for information a lot. My name is Kam, I'm 24, I have PCOS and I had my sleeve surgery when I was 21 here in London, UK. I was probably what you consider a 'lightweight', my BMI was 34, I weighed around 14 stone (196 pounds) at my heaviest. The surgery was the first operation I ever had, I was on no solid foods only clear liquid for 24 hours prior to the operation. I went in (I had it done on Friday the 13th eeek) at 6am, one hour later they sedated me and before I knew it I was in recovery. I had to stay 2 nights at the hospi…

So I have learned how to listen to my body. meat makes me feel really full so I have became a Vegan!!!!!...... Everything taste very different!! For some odd reason I love vegetables now. I started walking 45 min 5 days a week and Water aerobics 3 times a week for a hour.( 3 weeks ago). I also use weights when walking. Breakfast and lunch is Protein shakes. The weight has started to melt off. I'm usually a couch potato with no energy for nothing. If you can push yourself you will begin to love working out. I crave it n…

Hi everyone. I've been feeling off all day. I had a Protein shake for Breakfast, a few spoons of tomato basil Soup for lunch, and another Protein Shake at dinner. In between, I'm drinking lots of Water but feel thirsty all the time. So today I got chills and my fingernail beds turned blue for about 15 minutes. I have a tiny temp of 100.1 but most bothersome is burping, a little tummy cramping, and just a very uncomfortable feeling in the bowels. I haven't had any BM issues. Am I over analyzing... I mean, am I being neurotic? I'm so uncomfortable but I thought I was doing everything right. Anyone else dealt with this kind of discomfort and what was causing it? …

HW 272 SW 252 CW 169 GW 150 I am 8 months post op and 19 pounds away from goal and a "normal" BMI. I've been very excited lately with my changes and have been coming out socially more then ever. My life since the sleeve has been work, gym, walk and home. I would host dinner parties occasionally but only for close family and friends. I have recently been accepting invites to parties and outings because the shame is gone. I now can hold my head up and feel comfortable where ever I go. I decided to go vegetarian (again). 3 years ago before I gained almost 100lbs I was a vegetarian. I felt light, healthy and energized back then. I always wanted to go back to it but couldn't find the willpower. Thanks to having the VSG I've been without meat since surgery & feel amazing! Everyone's journey is their own & I'm certainly not encouraging or saying my way is the best way at all. However I would like to have support and wanted to share with my bariatricpal family ! Hi. I got a lap band in August. I was 97kg at the time and now am only at 93kg. My band is sitting at 5mls, I've had to recently Re - educate myself on how to eat with the 20-20 rule and finally I am able to eat without being sick. But unfortunately the weight loss is nil. I feel like a failure. I realise my BMI is not as high as others and I was hoping to lose about 60lbs. I can tend to eat chocolate as I crave sweet things. I don't find its my main meals which are the problem but I can snack at times on things I shouldn't. Any advice or tips would be really welcome. ..feeling a but worthless. So the past 5 months have creeped by and flew by all at the same time. I've been poked and prodded due to my endo thinking I had Cushing's, then my first cardiologist appointment came back with an abnormal ekg only to find out it was the nurses error. I just went today for an appointment with my surgeon and saw another cardiologist in Pittsburgh that did all my testing and said my only issue is my weight but everything came back perfect. The surgeon scheduled me for August 31st tentatively, pending the approval of my insurance after my 6th weight check on August 1st. I am beyond excited and can't wait to start this journey. I am 4 days out from surgery. I had my drain removed today. The doctor wants me to have at least 1-3 Protein shakes a day. I had problems getting them down pre op and experimented with different flavors and brands. I just tried to get one swallow in and I gagged and heaved and vomited so violently I popped a stitch in my wound. I have this reaction every time. My family is telling me go to yogurt and egg whites since my doctor told me to do that next Friday. I am afraid it is too soon. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm tired of vomiting. I got the gastic sleeve done on 6/28/2016. Some days are hard and a learning experience. My start weight was 276. Before surgery was 250. Right now is 222. I walk everyday but I need to do more of a workout. For some reason I am scared to workout. I know it will be alot easier but don't want to hurt myself. As far as eating. It am a bit over a month out. I am eating some solid foods. I still drink my Protein shake for Breakfast. I find it hard to eat right away, around 10am is where I can eat a fruit or Jello. For lunch and supper I eat every small portion of what I make for my family. I have learned to use the app the fitness pal. I love it. I am up to 600 calories. Eve…

Hey guys I'm totally confused. I'm 5 wks out down 20 lbs since surgery. Idk if that is great or not. But as you move thru the stages and start to add in foods it's so hard to balance them. Like , in order to get my Protein I still have to substitute like a shake and bar etc but if you start adding in food it seems like you're always eating?! Surely I'm not suppose to have a couple shakes plus three meals a day?? And if I'm suppose to substitute a shake for a meal then when do I get to eat real "foods"? Is anyone else having this issue? How many times should I be eating? I feel like in order to get my protein in I have to drink a couple shakes, so if I add that to a couple…

Hi everyone! On July 18, 2016, I got a revision from lap band to duodenal switch. It was supposed to be a one overnight stay...however mine ended up being four nights because I was very sensitive to the anesthesia and pain meds. Then I couldn't keep liquids down. On July 26, I went to my dr's office to get my staples removed and the on call dr (my dr went on vacation after I went home from the hospital) sent an order for me to have a barium swallow done. The radiologist looked at my x rays and called the dr to alert him that the liquids were not moving as they should be rather sitting stagnant. Mind you this was my third swallow (one pre op, one immediately post op, and t…

Decided to do the Gastric Sleeve as a New Year's resolution. Went through the entire process for Insurance Approval. Finally set the date for Surgery as 6/15/16. Was told to go on a 1 week liquid diet before the surgery which I followed to the T (and surprised myself in the process). Surgery went fine on 6/15. Was on the hospital for 2 days. Had the normal gas pains but went away fine. I did not take any pain medication when I was home and things were going quite well. Even attended a wedding that weekend. A week later I fir the first time had a sharp pain in my stomach. It was insane. I started seating like crazy. I ended up taking the pain meds my Dr had prescribed …

Hi guys. Yesterday marked 4 weeks since my sleeve. This has definitely been quite the journey. But I think I have done very well. I was on the lower BMI so I know the weight loss is slower. And honestly I'm ok with it bc hopefully that will mean less lose skin. How are other late June, early July sleevers doing? Please check in. My surgery date was 6/21/16. Since then I've lost 22 lbs. I've had ups and downs, cheating consequences (nothing surgical - thank God) and many crying fits. This week I've hit a plateau, to be expected especially since I haven't really been physically active. Today I took my very first cardio-kickboxing class. It sucked. I sucked. It was hard and painful and I felt nausea and dizziness and short of breath. I almost walked out, my eyes watered and I was ready to cry. I thought to myself, I hate this - I hate exercising. I feel uncomfortable, self conscious, ridiculous - I compared myself to everyone in the room. The looked great, didn't have to stop as much as I did, and…
