Yes it is completely normal. I'm two weeks post op and I don't sleep well at all because I normally sleep on my stomach but I can't get comfortable because it's still too sore in my abdomen. I too was so sick of chicken broth. When you get to liquid stage 2 you can have creamy tomato soup or any other liquid soup as long as there aren't any pieces in it. Hang in there. It does get better. Don't even worry about your protein intake just yet. Just focus on getting your liquid in.

I'm a vegetarian, so I've been drinking veggie broth. I think it's pretty good, but I also think they mostly use the same spices that are used in chicken broth, so it might not be much of a change for you.
