5 1/2 weeks post op.. starting weight 239.. pre-op weight 233..post op 203 Will I ever catch up with my thirst again? I probably get down about 35 to 40 ounces of liquids a day and I am still dieing of thirst! Not going to lie my protien intake sucks! Water still feels heavy on my stomach..protein shakes are so heavy and yucky to me now.. will be ordering some genepro! But my urine scares me it's a liquid gold not pretty light and clear like it used to be! Watered down crystal light and orange juice is all this sleeve likes at the moment! ! Watered down apple juice (kinda). I feel as if I sip ALL day! All I wanna do is drink... I am truly not hungry!! I admit I d…

8 days post op!! I have discharge coming (pinkish/yellow) out of my big incision, the one where the stomach was removed. My doctor in MX asked that I drain it. Today is the second day of draining. How long does this last? How did it get this? I've been on top of my stuff, showering twice a day, cleaning it with water and sole etc... Did anyone else have this?

Hi I lost 120 pounds on weight watchers and gained every pound back. It took me a year to lose it and a year to gain it all back. I got tired of measuring and counting points for my food. It became stressful especially when I got into a relationship. My family got so tired of hearing me say oh my God I ate to much now I have to work out for two hours. My only fear is that I don't want history to repeat itself once I have the WS surgery. I have one more weight in next month before my Doctor submit my paper work to my insurance company. Also I know WS have a plan as well but it don't seem to be stressful and my boyfriend is supporting me even though he don't agree

I remember many years ago going through these forums reading about the success of everyone post op. I'm sure if anyone will understand my post its people here. I liked reading stories that i could relate to, it gave me hope. Here is my story pre-op to present and what ive encountered as good and bad effects of the process: I grew up a big kid, the biggest in my class of course, bigger than grown men by the time i was in 7th grade. i was 6 foot tall and I tipped the scales at over 300 at the age of 12, and graduated high school around 318. After high school i ballooned up to 330, yoyo dieted for a few years, losing some weight then gaining it back plus some extra every …

Alright so Friday I was discharged. But I was in an incredible amount of pain. Too much to sleep or eat. My temperature kept escalating. So Sunday things got really bad. I went to the er with a 103.6 temperature. Turns out I have an infection underneath one of my incisions. It's being treated. They're packing the wound which is the worst experience I've been through. Idk how long I can do this packing thing. Please keep me in your prayers

So I had my surgery on January 20th. I am a nurse and have researched this for years before finally decided on the surgery. I went to all the pre-op classes, did everything I was supposed to do when I was supposed to and i thought I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. Holy crap was I wrong. No amount of prep could have prepared me for what was in store. Post op, felt great. a bit nauseous but ok. Went for a nice long walk, had my foley, i was Nothing by mouth and a dilauded pca with zofran around the clock. I feel asleep for a bit woke at 2 am and was super sick to my stomach. The discontinued my iv in the morning and asked me to start drinking. WHAT!!!…

I gained 4lbs ( about) over Christmas ..lol I have lost it now ( and some) proof that even with the sleeve you have to be super careful, I wasn't over eating per say it was more all the chocolate I consumed ... As it's summer here it is so hot but for the first time in a long time I am not finding it quite as hot as other years :-) bonus , also I have started to wear skirts & dresses to work which is great and I am getting more complements as well , so lode to my goal only another 50lbs or so to go .. I have a goal as my birthday which is in August so we will see

I'm just curious on how everybody progress is going. I was sleeved on 9/10/13 my highest weight was 303lbs and after I did the liquid diet for 2 weeks I got down to 273. I will be 10 weeks out tomorrow and I'm now down to 248lbs. I'm so happy to be losing weight! I'm still not getting in enough protein so I'm working on that. Please share your progress with us, and any obstacles you are having.

Wow it seems like it's taken forever for me to get to this point! My date of surgery is January 28, 2015 When I went in for my appointment I was really scared because my insurance is up on February 1 and then I'll be changing providers! So I explained to the dr my situation and he agreed that I should have the Sleeve asap! And well that was his next available appointment!! I'm so excited! Reason I'm having WLS is because my family has a history of health problems and at this point I do not have any of those and my family dr and I both agreed that this would be best for me in the long run! Plus I'm getting married in May so I want to look simi decent when I marry the most…

Good morning to everyone. I have been interested in having WLS for years now but couldn't because my employers insurance had a block for it. In April of last year, my husbands insurance kicked in and I switched over. His plan allows it. After researching different options, I decided that I wanted a sleeve. I finally attend a seminar in November. I left there confident that THIS was the procedure for me. Last weekend, I scheduled an appt with a Bariatric surgeon. I went into his office gung-ho on getting the sleeve, however the Surgeon recommended that I have something called a DS (Duodenal Switch). I have been researching this procedure and I have to say, I'm n…

Hi, my name is MoJo and I have been seeking out information about the gastric sleeve for the past year. Since December, I decided I want to go through with the surgery. I've been reading and researching like crazy about this procedure. I have all my appointments set up for February; sleep study, EGD, Pych eval, NUT, etc. I'm starting feel a little nervous. I am currently 5'5" and my weight is 246. I just found out I have high blood pressure, which I didn't have before. I am feeling anxious and a little nervous about the surgery, and whether I will lose all the weight I need to lose, and also whether I will be able to maintain the healthy eating. I'm 48, and I am p…

My name is Jennifer and this is my story. It all started after my divorce. I had been gaining steadily since my youngest daughter was born. I tried weight watchers, exercise programs and carbohydrate addicts diet. I would lose no more than 20 and then start gaining again. I explored the lap band option and found good news. My insurance paid for it! I had my surgery in 2008 and started on my journey to losing 80 pounds. What I didn't know was that my hair would fall out, I couldn't eat anything healthy without throwing it up. I started bruising easy and my body hurt all the time. I tried some 5K's and walking but anymore than that I felt like my body had been toss…

So I started this journey in May 2014 was told I had to lose 30 lbs and is get my date with a lot of determination & phentermine I lost the 30lbs by June. I go back to the drs office and the nurse completely crushed my spirit she told me she didn't remember telling me that and that id need to lose another 30lbs to have surgery. This crushed me I gained the weight back and now I'm stuck I'm back to dieting and the meds and nothing's helping I went back to the dr today and she was like what happened you could have had surgery back in June I'm like in total mental breakdown mode today. I feel like I'm in a rut. Idk what to do I feel like my family is not supportive. And…

I finally finished my 6 month process. Now I wait.... hoping my insurance doesn't have any issues so I can move forward on this forever, long waited journey. I'm 35; 5'2" and heaviest weight was 250. I managed to drop down to 240 throughout these past 6 months. I also learned through this whole process that I have a a severe case of GERD so I will be having the RNY apposed to the sleeve (which I originally wanted). I'm so excited to have this surgery. I have been stalking this forum for months now and can't wait to be on the other side. Thank you everyone for your honesty and strength. I will keep you updated. Hoping for a February surgery date.

Hello everyone. I had my gastric slevectomy on Dec 3. I was very gung-ho about the possibility of having this awesome opportunity until I went to the orientation. I came home and cried. I was NOT having this done. It was more than what I was ready for. I mean come on, no more tacos??? Well I have a great supporting family and they reminded me of the reason I wanted it in the first place. I did have the surgery and I can't say that it has been easy, by far not easy. But everyday gets a bit easier and I see remarkable changes in my weight. I started at 280 lbs and today at 214. I have to say one thing... I still have very little energy even though I am working and when I ca…

My story so far spans 6 years and includes 4 surgeries and a lot of ups and downs. In 2008, weighing in at 288 pounds on a 5'3'' frame, detesting seeing myself in wedding photos, and now having a gorgeous stepson to live for, I sought out weight loss surgery. Not to mention, my endocrinologist diagnosed me with PCOS and told me my only hope for having a baby was to lose weight. My employer is known to have a "Cadillac" benefits plan, so I had a hunch approval wouldn't be too difficult. I was correct. Getting approval only took a few months, and a minor number of hoops jumped through. I decided on the Lap-Band and was pretty excited going in to surgery. I wasn't too nervo…

Hi I've been reading here for quite some time. But this is my first post. My surgery date is February 17th 2015 and I must say I am very excited but also very nervous. I start my pre op diet on February 3rd. My highest weight is 336 my current weight is 295. My brother had the sleeve September 2nd and had many complications. I feel I really need to do this for myself as I have many medical problems due to my weight. I'm diabetic have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and fibromyalgia. Oh yeah also I'm 44 years old. Anyway that's pretty much my story I very much appreciated reading all the stories on here and felt it was probably time to share. I want to say thank you …

Hi, my name is Caryn and I am turning 50 this Monday. I am post opt 3 1/2 weeks, due to sever acid re flux and a hernia I had to have my sleeve converted to full gastric. I couldn't be happier with my choice to get banded and am still not in my "greenzone" so I know there is more work to do and more success to be had.

I hope you all don't mind, I am not on a weight loss journey. I had to have a rny when I was abt 5 years old because of a car accident. The surgery was brand new back then and so I was sent home and told let her eat whatever she wants. But as my life has gone on I have dealt with the complications and side affects of this surgery and never really had any support. Thanks to the internet I learned a lot of what I go through is normal. I am hoping for this forum to be a place I can come to with questions and also offer some experience from my own life. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi. I'm 3 weeks pre-op. My surgery date is scheduled for jan 19th. I'm realizing today, after my pre-admission testing the reality of what I'm about to do and though I'm very excited I'm also getting quite nervous which is not like me at all. I realized today that I didn't ask a whole lot of questions related to post-op life, immediate and long term. What to eat? What to avoid? Is my family prepared to support me in this effort? Will they be able to fend for themselves while I'm restricted to liquids and mush? Throughout this whole process I said I'm doing this for me, and I am but I cannot help worrying and nurturing my "boys". I just needed to say all that an…

I feel as though I started this journey many years ago. I wanted to believe I could get a grip on my weight with each new diet, program, pill, therapy, exercise, support, and starvation gimmick i tried. I have been successful in most areas of my life. I graduated college and went on to get a Masters Degree. So the theory that I just couldn't follow something through to completion didn't fit. I had a great job, great friends and an active social life. But for all my successes, my weight continued increase and my efforts to loose weight were a failure. I am now 63 and I have, I believe, been skating through life on my good genes. My blood pressure has only recently gone u…

I had Gastric sleeve on April 8th. 2013. 21 months out I have reached my goal weight of 195 (300 day of surgery) but recently have returned to my bad habits that got me in trouble. I have never had issues with not being able to eat certain foods, I can eat ANYTHING. I keep telling myself oh I can eat this just one time it wont hurt, and it goes on and on and on. I have gained about 15lbs back over about a 3 month time frame. I get SO mad at myself, I know I should not be doing it. I feel like I have been abandoned by everyone because nobody ask anymore about my loss, it's like it never happened. Oh well, I just wish I had somebody going through the same issues I am to tal…

So its been a week since my LapBand surgery and I have to say, not much to complain about. Maybe for a few minor pinches by my wounds when getting into bed. But other than that it has been smooth sailing so far. Whats great about this is that since I started my PreOp liquid diet until today which is 20 days. I have lost a total of 29.5 pounds. I keep hydrated, drink all my Protein, (more when hungry...which is rare) and take my walks when the weather allows me. Everything is going great! I see my doctor for the first time this coming thursday. Thanks for all your support during this time!!!!!

I had my RNY surgery on 11/13/14 and just made two months post op. Start weight was 366 and now I'm at 297 as of 01/14/15. It was rough at the beginning. My cravings are still there but I try to push through it as much as possible. First two weeks I experienced severe constipation and pain near my incision sites. Trying to get my Water intake is hard and I'm still drinking the Protein shakes to help with my protein intake Things are getting better for me with the help from my co-workers, friends, and family. Since I've been clear to workout I haven't signed up to a gym or health club yet. I walk on my treadmill and use my WII game everyday. Just Dance is a great for me…

Hello, This is my first post, I have been reading the forums for several weeks and have received a great deal of helpful information. I was sleeved yesterday and am still in the hospital with discharge scheduled for tomorrow. So far so good and everything has gone well. I was 409lbs the day I started my shakes and 388 yesterday morning before the procedure. I know this is going to be a very long road to make my goal (and stay there). The forums have really helped in my preparation for surgery. Also, did anyone else experience hiccups post op? They are not pleasant with the fresh incision sites and wanted to see if that eventually subsides.

Hi everyone I am 40 years old and decided to have weight loss surgery in January. I am currently going through my nutrition counseling, which I am on my 5th of 6 sessions. I am having the gastric sleeve because I suffer from lupus and take prednisone daily so this is the procedure that was best for me. I have the support of my loving husband, kids, and close friends. I'm looking forward to sharing my progress and reading about everyone else's journey.

I know people loose hair after their surgery but I am 4 months out and the hair loss has gotten excessive. I worry about brushing it to much because it comes out. I used to only have to clean my hair brush every 2-3 weeks. Now I clean it every time I brush it. And it's coming out in gob amounts in the shower as well. I am taking B-12, a multivitamin, calcium citrate and biotin... what else could I be taking?? I called and talked to the lady in my doctors office this morning and she said it is normal and it probably won't stop until 12-18 months out.... if you ask me I don't have that much to loose. My sister is getting married and march this year and I don't want my hair …

Hi everyone, I'm Annelise - I'm 25. I am having my gastric bypass next Saturday. I'm scared / nervous and have no idea of what to expect! I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I've been on a steady weight increase since I was about 18 and was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance. I went through 4 years of going through the NHS way for gastric bypass, after my PCOS consultant said I should. After being approved this year and funding approved at the panel my consultant left and the new one said no to surgery. I'm now going private, as I know it's needed. Can anyone tell me what happens in the hospital? What I'm in for?? I HATE needles and am stressing myself…
