Hi my name is Carol and I had my bypass sleeve surgery Dec 16, 2014. Very hard for me during Christmas. I am 44 married and a mother of 5. With 4 beautiful grandchildren. My kids are grown well physically anyways. OK back to my story. To start out with I was 270 lb in June 2014. I have Lupus and other smaller things. The Lupus is what helped me to decide to have surgery. I get flare ups in my hips and can't walk (carry my weight) I'm only 5'2. So I started in June. My insurance required me to go through all kinds of stuff as you all know.6 months of doctors visits, nutritionist, mental evaluation. Passed. Before surgery in June I went down 257. I did go down before the bi…

So, I had my surgery on Dec 3rd, and have lost over 40 lbs! I'm still struggling with water, and protien. Forget about soft food, not happening. The past week, I've been very constipated, with the exception of one bout of diareah a few days ago. Now I feel so backed up, that I think I'm going to vomit everytime I sip some water or gateraid. Don't know what to do... I see my surgeon and Nutritionalist next week... just want to start feeling better... also, upper back pain for a few weeks that won't go away.. any suggestions?

Hi All, I am newto this site. I am also just starting my wieght loss journey. I have my information session at Kaiser on the 8th. Then I start the options classes either end of January or sometime in February depending on the class time. I am excited to finally get in control of my weight. I am hope to have my surgery over the summer so that I don't have to miss school. I am almost done with my BA in Libral Studies. A little about me: I have been with my husband almost 9 years. I had my Barriatric sleeve surgery on Monday. I am going up and down to feeling great and then when I do too much i crash. My hands have also been very cold. I'm assuming this is normal because I've had a change in dietary change. But starting tomorrow I'm able to go on puréed soup and yogurt. What is purred soup? Is it just like a cambells soup or is there a different brand?? I can't have meat or noodles in the soup and the instructions are non creamed soup.

Haven't checked in for quite a while -- hope all my fellow bandsters are doing well! It'll be four months of banded life on January 5 -- time flew by! I've learned much on my journey & I continue to work on being a better, healthier version of me. I'm down 42 pounds & I must admit that I'm enjoying the weight loss but also the NSV's as well. I've had one fill & going back for another this month. My surgeon, nutritionist & I feel it's best to ensure I'm learning to "eat better" & not just look to fills as the be all, end all. I'm glad we are taking this approach because it really has helped me learned to eat better & make good choices. It's n…

I am so proud and pleased with the decision I made to save my own life by having WLS! I'm my own hero! I've been sharing my surgery with those who inquire and I have made announcements to family and friends. I'm very happy to share my decision with others. As with any other part of recovery (I've been clean/sober for 19 1/2 years) I have chosen to keep no secrets. I talk openly about having had this surgery to free myself from the grip of food addiction. I don't keep my decision to myself, I have also spoken to my employer and my coworkers and they are very supportive. Everyone I've told about my decision has been extremely supportive. 13. Hello my name is Carol and I am two months post surgery. It has definitely been a struggle with trying to get the right amount of Protein and Water into my body, I am still having trouble with that one. It's been about two week's since I had a short hospital stay, as I was not able to keep anything down and was starting to get really dehydrated, when they performed an endoscopy they discovered scar tissue build up at the site that the lower intestine was joined to new pouch and there was only a very tiny little hole where the food could try to get through, this was rectified by Dr. putting a small balloon device down into that area to dilate the scar tissue area. I am …

Hello there. I’m Dave, 44 years old, from Arizona. I will apologize in advance, this might be long! I am 1 week post-op today, but my weight loss journey started almost 3 years ago. I knew my weight was out of control, but I had no idea how bad since I had long ago exceeded the max weight of a standard scale. I was walking out of work one night, through the warehouse. Nobody was around, so I decided to weigh myself on the shipping scale. (Hopefully I didn’t weigh more than a pallet of goods!) I was 450. I knew it would be bad, but I was shocked at that number. Definitely my “what the @#!*?” moment! I decided that night that I had to make changes, and I did. B…

I'm 2 months and a week post op this month. I went to an ugly Christmas sweater party yesterday and I cheated...had some mixed drinks for the first time since my surgery. I'm down total 25lbs which is a bit discouraging to me but my doctor tells me I'm doing good. It turns out I'm losing inches fast and she says the scale will eventually catch up. Anyway I took some pics yesterday and I finally see the weight loss. My face is covered because I would only like the people I told to know about my surgery.

I'll be keeping an updated log of my progress with pictures, weight, and measurements so be sure to check back! Here's my story: I'm 19 and have been morbidly obese since middle school. I was extremely athletic when I was young, gymnastics and competitive cheer along with riding horses since I was 5. I was always bigger than other kids but mostly it was muscle. My parents got divorced when I was 8 and it ripped my world apart, I had issues with depression and ended up going on Zyprexa which is now I believe off the market due to the insane weight gain. …

I'm not entirely sure how I found Bariatric Pal's website - I think it came up when I was initializing a new smart phone I had purchased after I lost my cell phone somewhere in the process of checking out of the hospital from my gastric bypass surgery. The last milestone I passed was my 6 week follow up with my surgeon and am down about 50 or so pounds and maybe 66 pounds from my highest weight ever. Needless to say I'm scared, anxious, and feeling overwhelmed but I know I have made the right choice that will benefit me in the long run. Along with needing to lose weight, I'm having the surgery to help relieve pain caused by a car accident that also left me disabled. I have had my first consult with my doc, bloodwork, and am waiting on my psych clearance to set up my EGD. I am cautiously optimistic at this point. On of the things that I do struggle with is the question of what happens when you suffer from food addiction and go through VGS? For the majority of my 27 years I have been over weight. My obvious love for food coupled with family genetics and trials I have experienced, allowed me to add on pound after pound. I did not plan on having bypass, but after having a spinal fusion from C5 to L2 in Jan 2011, my doctors felt that my wt would become much more of an issue without me being able to exercise. I spent most of my life very active, including was an amateur female boxer for 15 years. After the spinal fusion, i could not do anything to burn calories, so i eventually agreed.
