  1. Hi guys! This support group is amazing, we have a huge huge group of only friends and supporters... Exchanging msgs, encouraging each other and a whole lot of love ???? (wifi love) I m from India, I will be getting sleeved in Feb haven't discussed the date as yet with my surgeon. I m more excited and not so nervous, reading everybody's experience has just made me more and more sure that YES!!! I m getting this done for sure. I have struggled with obesity all my life, never in my life have I seen me thin or just overweight.... Always morbid obesity, approaching my 30's and all I m reminded of life long struggle of never being able to stick to a diet or lose the excess we…

  2. I don't know why but getting on the scale this morning and seeing 248 made me so happy!! For me starting this journey at 314, 240 just seems so little to me. I know that it isn't and I know I still have a ways to go, but I am trying to enjoy the journey and my little victories. Especially that at one point in my life my highest weight was 324. Someone posted in a youtube video to "Trust the Process" That is what I am trying to do. Trying to do everything I can to be successful at this. I am perfect....Oh Hell NO! But my main focus is getting in my protein, my liquids and my exercise. Besides all the positives that I have seen in me the other great thing is…

So I'm 5 weeks post op as of tomorrow, Monday January 26th. Everything has gone so smoothly and I've been on solid foods for about 5 days and all has been wonderful. The first few days were brutal and the 3 weeks on a liquid diet was tough but worth it. I'm down 24 pounds and seem to be a little stuck there but I'm hoping with my increase in activity it won't last long! I would recommend this surgery to anyone struggling! If anyone has any questions as they enter their own journey, I'd love to answer them to the extent that I know and based on my personal experience! Good luck to all!

My Dr. said soft foods as in soft cooked or canned vegetables, canned tuna or chicken, meat loaf etc. I hope I do ok on those type things! I'm starting to really get hungry a lot. Is that normal? I've lost 12 pounds so far. I hope it keeps coming off!

Dr came in, after examination he removed 1 1/2 cc of fluid from my band, which helped w/the shoulder pain because of gas. Hopefully it just gets better from here....

  12. I had my husband take progress pics of me today, since it's 5 months out from when I had my "before" pictures taken one week before my surgery. I'm only down 39 pounds since my surgery on September 1, but I'm happy with my progress so far. I just started strength training, so hopefully I will start toning up some. You can see all the pictures in my gallery, but here are a couple for comparison:

Hello everyone I got my surgery done on Dec.31,2014. It's only been almost 4 weeks but I feel good. I was in the hospital for only 1 day and only had pain for 2 days. Also everything I drink or eat now always goes down smoothly and pain free. Thank god nothing has made me sick an I can tolerate everything. When I started this journey to lose weight I was 410 pounds which was pretty scary... The day of surgery I was 347 and now I'm 328 also just because I've had good luck so far. Doesn't mean it's not hard and scary but I know it's for the best. I love this site and how supportive most ppl are. I hope my story can help someone out there and remember I'm new and still have …

Hi I am a 38 y/o single mom with Stage IV Pulmonary Sarcoidosis. I was diagnosed Feb 2005 & in 2008 I suffered a major setback and spent 4 1/2 months in 3 different hospitals on life support, I have spent the last 7 years of my life literally holding my breath waiting to see what was going to happen next. During that time because of medication, because of my lung function, and a host of health issues my weight has ballooned to a number is that I never thought possible for me. Because of my complications prescription medication to help alleviate weight problems was not an option. In 2012 my ob/gyn suggested surgery. I've spent the last two years researching it and r…

So I have attained my 1st NSV:) One of the things that happened when I hit my ultimate low and made the decision to get my lap band was when my wedding ring wouldn't fit:( I had to have my ring enlarged a few years back and at that time it was no big deal. But to have to do it again was really disheartening. I am 2 weeks post op and I have lost enough weight and water weight that my ring comfortably fits again. This is so motivational. It was hard when my husband asked why I wasn't wearing my band and I told him it was cutting off the circulation in my finger. I think this was the point when he realized how much I was struggling too. Oh well that is in the past. The ring …

I am 5 weeks post-surgery, (I was banded on Dec 18, 2014) and today I went for my first fill. I was not overly nervous, but I will admit to dreaming a couple of nights ago that I climbed up on the table and a one-eyed Doctor took out a massive amniocentesis needle, squinted at my tummy, then said, lifting up the needle to plunge it in, "Let's hope we hit it!" (referring to my port) and plunged the 18 inch needle in. I woke up in a cold sweat! So...ok. Maybe a 'wee' bit worried about my first fill. Today was a breeze. I lay down on the examination table while the nurse filled the syringe with saline. Up went my top, she palpated my upper abdomen for a split second, …

Hey guys! This is my first post on here, even though I have been reading posts on here for months. I had the lap band surgery 12/19/14. I was supposed to get the sleeve, but chickened out at the last minute. My mom and my sister both have the lap band so I wanted something that I was more familiar with. They have both had lots of success. Anyways, at my highest, I was 368. On the day of my surgery, I was 332. It's been about five weeks and I am now 317. So, 15 pounds in five weeks. I don't know if that's a good amount or not, but I'm happy with it. It's better than going up! I go in for my first fill on the 29th, which I am both nervous and excited about. I'm hop…

In the first few months after WLS, I had trouble adjusting to my new way of eating. I mourned enjoying my favorite foods. But now at 7 months out I have learned to appreciate the fact that I can be satisfied with such small portions of holiday treats and can easily pass up the treats until I deem it appropriate to indulge in a bite or two. Before WLS I was able to do that with willpower. Now it just seems to come naturally. I hope this feeling will continue for the next year.

I live in New Zealand , in case you didn't know :-) here we have a national health system , similar to the UK, which means I guess that you don't have to insurance .. But on the down side it means there are long waiting lists for things, and strict criteria for certain surgeries such as bariatric surgery require lots of hoops to jump thru. Most insurance companies here don't cover bariatric surgery because it's not "needed" so if you don't get accepted into the public system, you have to pay approx $30,000 for it privately, I get a bit upset when I read posts about people complaing about things like flabby arms or stretch marks and the like, I also got told well you …

I am considering being sleeved. I'm in my mid-thirties and I'm wondering if there are any long term risks to having so much of your stomach removed? Hopefully I have another 50-60 years left to live and I'm feeling scared that removing such a large portion of my stomach could be detrimental years down the road. It must be safe or people wouldn't do it so often. I know this procedure is relatively new so maybe they don't know 40+ years. Did anyone else ask about this? Would love feedback!!!

  36. It only took BCBSNJ four days to approve my application! My surgery date is confirmed for Sept 16th. What a relief! After reading so many delay horror stories I was in dread of being turned down. Now I just have to worry about my pre-surgical testing. I made my appointment a whole month in advance (the maximum) of my surgery in case there was a problem. I have also read of last minute delays because of EKG problems. I also made an appointment with my cardiologist just in case I there is a problem and I need his OK. My preop weight was 240 and my surgery weight was 224 (2 week optifast liquid diet) & my current weight is 218! I've been reading everyone's experiences and I feel like I've had a pretty decent recovery so far, I haven't had to use pain meds at all, just a sleep aid (zquil). I have 5 incisions and only one really bothers me where there is a dent that I'm told will go away with time. It's pretty sore and hurts when I move and bend down but I guess it's better than having all of them hurt. I have the normal gas pain in my shoulders and back but every day it gets better, it kinda hurts…

I have started to want to eat all the time and not eat the healthiest. I got back on track today and think it went well. But has anyone else hit this same stall/gain? I'm feeling really discouraged that 10 pounds snuck up so easily and quickly. I'm terrified that if that 10 was so easy to gain back there could be more to come!! There appears to be a great deal of support and kindness in the forums! YAY! So my husband and I are on this journey together. 40. Hi everyone, This is my first post here. My weight has been up & down most of my life. After my first pregnancy I had gained about 50kg and that put me at my highest weight ever. I lost 40 kg by myself but I was scared I'd gain it all back so got my band put in in 2007. I think I never really understood how the band worked properly so I became excellent at eating around the band. I kept cheating & vomiting. Long story short...in 2010 I got a total unfill before my 3rd pregnancy and never went back again for a fill after. I lost weight on my own in 2012 and got down to about 83kg ( my goal is 70kg) but regained it again. So I've decided to give my band anothe…

I was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. And ever since I got home I have not taken the strong pain meds. Only Tylenol here and there I couldn't stand feeling weak from the oxycodon and valium. So I dropped that real quick when I gOt home. I'm starting to eat. I was having serious trouble eating. And getting my protein in. My body has rejected eggs, chicken, and fish. Lol ugh. And I so don't even want to touch any type of red meat ever.

Sometimes it even gets as low as 117/82. I check my pressure about once a week when I make a Sam's Club run. They have a blood pressure machine over at the pharmacy.
