Hi, everyone. I haven't posted for a while, and I'm happy to say that's because I'm out there living like I couldn't do 55 lbs ago! Getting sleeved was the best decision I could have made for myself, and I'm so grateful to the outcome. HW 285 SW 266 CW 229.8 1 Month Post Op: 248 (down 18 lbs) 2 Month Post Op: 241 (down 7 lbs) 3 Month Post Op: 230 (down 11 lbs) I owe so much to the people on this site who took the time to answer questions and share their experiences. I will try to do the same and spend some time each day here.

Hey yall! So I was just wondering what kind of protein shakes yall use. I started off with the premier protein shakes but decided to switch over to body fortress super advanced whey protein powder. I switched bc the premier protein just was too chocolatey for me. If anyone uses powder, what do you mix it with? I mixed mine with whole milk, but I'm not sure if that's allowed after the surgery... I have my surgery next Friday so I started drinking the protein shakes again today to get me in the habit.

Hello everyone! I am new to the website forum and I guess you can say new to the smartphone world so please bare with me. I am 37 years old, married, Mother of 4. I had vsg surgery in Jan 2014. Before the surgery, I was very miserable with myself. I had no energy, very low selfesteem (which is getting better) I began my journey in October of 2013. My first time meeting Dr. Samuel Bledsoe. I was scared, nervous, and somewhat ashamed to have to resort to such drastic measures. Well, Iet me tell you, all of those feelings disappearedafter he walked in the door. I have never met a more caring doctor in my life!! He LISTENED And truly UNDERSTOOD my struggles and NEVER Jud…

Hey all! I haven't posted since the very early days out...I was sleeved on 10/2/13 at 273 pounds. I reached goal in 9.5 months which was 159 pounds which would put me at a normal bmi. At about 8 months post op I started running. That was a game changer! I have since completed a triathlon, a 5k, 2 10ks, 4 half marathons, and on January 25th, 2015 I became a marathoner! I went on to lose and additional 20 pounds and I've been maintaining 20 pounds below goal ever since. From a size 22/24 to a size 2/4. I eat clean and train hard! I am really living my best life now!

Hey Gang! I am only in the beginning stages of the pre-op phase. I am excited and scared at the same time. My husband and our daughter (she's 34) are doing this together. Our insurance has very few hoops to jump through so I hope that the process goes quickly. I look forward to starting the new phase of our lives. I have about 140 pounds to lose. I lost exactly that amount on my own through diet and exercise 14 years ago only to gain back every single pound....therein lies my greatest fear- that I will do this successfully only to gain it back again someday.

Had surgery November13,2014 on December 11,2014 I had the worse pain ever in my left side and left shoulder. Went to Er and found I had a leak. I had surgery that night to try and fix, but Drs decided to put a stent in on Dec 23. Living with the stent was the worst thing ever! I was in the hospital for 20 days released on 12/31. Living with the stent you were nausea all day/night long. I would throw up 2-3 times a night! I finally got my stent out 7 weeks later and now starting on clear liquids. I didn't eat or drink for the entire time, I was on TPN and had 2 drains coming out of my stomach. I am hoping and praying things are better from here on out, just curious if anyo…

So today is one week post op, knock on wood things have gone remarkably well in my opinion, except for some earyl gas pain I feel great. No problem with liquids or Protein goals. So far have lost 33lbs (24lbs pre-op liquid and 9lbs this week) super psyched. Question? My surgeon goes straight to Puree phase, anyone else have this? It seems everyone else here has some sort of liquid phase. It scares me a little. Trying to be careful to not overdue it. Thanks All, Be well "Your BODY hears EVERTHING your MIND says. STAY POSITIVE"

I had RNY gastric bypass in 2002. I lost almost 100 lbs, but never reached my goal weight. Started having absorption issues almost immediately. My surgeon left town within 6 months of my surgery, without referring to another doctor. We did not have any other local bariatric surgeons. My PCP did his best, but was inexperienced with WLS patients. I was not absorbing Iron and having all sorts of problems from palpitations, dizziness, passing out, inability to swallow. I was hospitalized several times and given blood transfusions due to Iron deficiency Anemia. It was a nightmare. Long story short, I found a hematologist about 6 yrs post-op (during a hospitalization) and have…

Had sleeve surgery on October 8, 2014. To date I've lost 66 pounds, but the past week and a half I've bounced from 70 back down to 66. I've recently added a weekly trampoline exercise class. I keep trying to make sure I get all the Protein but have noticed the past couple of weeks my hair is coming out in bigger clumps then before. I'm really getting frustrated, as much as I'm happy with the improvement I feel like I'm not where I should be.

I know it sounds crazy because I know what was done. But does anyone else feel like they just won't believe it will work? I am really not having any problem with food or drinking. I refuse to get on a scale more than once a week because I do not want to be frustrated. My procedure was Feb. 9 -- two weeks ago. Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks like this. : (

I had my surgery on February 20th 2015. I have not walked as much as I should after getting home. It's cold and snow on the ground. I have just been walking up and down the hall a few times a day. My legs get sore and seem to swell if I sit too long. Is this normal? I weighed today and have not lost any weight. I had lost 13 with the pre op liquid diet and now I have gained 2 pounds. When will this weight gain go away? Sorry for so many questions. I am still quite sore but really feel quite well otherwise.

I was 17 wks post op yesterday. Today I get on the scale (I weigh daily and track my weight in my journal) and the scale reads 239!!!!! Not only did I move into the 230's I have lost 75lbs!!!! I literally jumped off the scale and did a happy naked dance!! LOL I'm sure it wasn't pretty but I did it!!! We have our trip to Disney coming up on March 13th and I am so excited to go!! It is going to be so nice for me to make the decisions what rides to go on, not just what rides will I fit on!!! For anyone starting this journey or struggling, please be patient and keep working your program. A wise woman one told me just "Trust the Process!!"

Ok, so I have a son that is 9 almost 10 year old son who currently weigh's 145 lbs, and I am very worried for his health. I have removed most of the junk food that is in my house, I keep fruits and vegetables and other healthy Snacks that I can eat in the house for my kids to eat. I worry for my son because he is so over weight at a young age and I don't want him to grow up and have issues like I did with my weight. I want to help him now and that was one of the reasons I myself got healthy with my weight loss surgery. My son is a sports child, loves to play sports and his biggest sport is football which he plays from Aug. 1st through late November 4 - 5 days a week f…

im nervous, as most people are, I am worried that I am making the wrong choice rny over sleeve. I am almost 32 5'5 and right now weigh 263. I have no health issues aside from being over weight and tomorrow I start my 2 week liquid diet. I am afraid that having rny I am setting my self up for long term health problems but is the sleeve much different? reason I chose rny is because its the gold standard, its been around a lot longer and my sugeon is skilled at preforming the surgery. I have a family and a career and I feel selfish that this sugery may potentially make my health worse than if I just lived a life of obesity.

I am two year post op and putting on weight. I need to get back on this site and refresh my memory. I wish I never stopped checking in on this support system daily. Little by little, I fell back into poor eating habits. I never got on track with an exercise routine either. BIG MISTAKE. I had my surgery in April and by early August I had lost 30+lbs. I wasn't impressed. Later in August I went on a 2 week trip to Europe that was strenuous walking. By the time mid-September rolled around I had lost another 40!!!! That exercise on vacation really kick started my weight loss! (did I learn from that? no) Stress eating got the best of me and little by little I beg…

I just joined this group and I have really enjoyed reading all the posts. Very useful information here. I hope that I can contribute as well to others as you all have done for me. My surgery is this coming Monday. I had the Lapband which was an absolute failure. I had that taken out about 7 months ago in preparation for this! Nervous, anxious, excited...all at once.

I was completely done with my surgery requirements Dec 23rd 2014.. I got my approval early January. I found out that the surgeons office was changing hospitals & they would be scheduling surgeries within a week or two. Each week I have called to get updates just to be told the same thing..hopefully this next week or so! ::facepalm:: Now, going on 2 months later we still do not have a surgery date! They arent scheduling anyone yet! Last they told me there was 35-40 people a head of me on their list too. So, even if they start scheduling in the next few weeks it will still be a few more months out before they get to me! Frustrating! What I decided to do is go se…

Hi... I never wrote in forums , I am more of a reader( and I have enjoyed and learned through reading a lot of the topics offered through this forum)... But something happened yesterday that kind of shook me. First a little about me: I have my sleeve operation due on the 15th of February , I am a mother of 2 (a 2 and a half year old and a 1 year old - just got a full time nanny for them 2 months ago) - I currently weigh 249 pounds and I am about 5'5"... Yesterday I went out with my husband and he said he doesn't support my decision of doing this operation (even though we have been talking about this for the past few months - he has always said that he prefers that I did…

I am a 51 year old mother, grandmother, have been married for nearly 31 years to a wonderful man. I grew up skinny, skinny skinny! When I met my soon to be husband at 16 I was so skinny he said he felt sorry for me! I stayed skinny for many years. Even after my first child was born I got down to 135 pounds, (with Weight Watchers and became a lifetime member) and at 5'7 inches that is small. It wasn't until I got pregnant with my second child in 1990 that I began to gain weight. We found out at 4 months that our baby had a genetic disorder and may or may not make it to full term. Over the course of the next 2 1/2 months I gained 60 lbs! I was so depressed and all I did…

I had my lap band on Sept 11, 2014.. I have lost 15lbs since the day of surgery . I have a 14cc band with 8.5 cc in it.. I am NOT losing the weight and I have tried. I have given up and regained eating poorly and still sit at the same number. I don't know what to do. I stopped going to the Dr 2 months ago. I was having issues with throwing up because I eat to fast and to large a bite, so I wanted to get better at eating.. I am so confused. I do not throw up as much when I am mindful of eating. and my hair is falling out.. what the hell is that all about! I am not sure what to do... any help, suggestions etc. would be greatly appreciated. I did have Polycystic ovary …

I've been lurking around this site since before my surgery and have found it to be helpful. Now, I need to see if anyone else is having this issue. I had a RNY on January 22 nd....complications afterward of bleeding in my pouch resulting in six units of blood. I'm fully recovered from the events and feeling great except for one thing....my stomach churns and rolls every time I sip liquids. I think it's hunger pangs. I'm in my third phase of the program which is soft food. I've followed the guidelines strictly without cheating. I stop drinking at least 30 minutes before eating and wait 60+ minutes afterward. I eat protein first and stop when I feel full. But since…

February 17, 2015 a date which will always be a life changing memory. I couldn't sleep the day before surgery - slept in my kids room next to my little girl and watched her sleep most of the night. This journey started 6 months ago and at that point it seemed as my date would never arrive. One month before my date I arranged last dinner, all night drinking binge, and any other activities I might not do again. I am very grateful to my family & friends for there support and willingness to understand my decision. I grew up in a household that surrounded itself in food (which was also their way of expressing love) and unhealthy eating habits. I can remember up to th…

Hello all! I figured I would drop in and give everyone an update! I am 22 and decided to get sleeved Dec 11, 2014. I started out at 270 and I am currently around 225 for a loss of 45 lbs in 2 months and one week. I am so happy I made the decision to get sleeved! My entire life has changed and I am just a happier, HEALTHIER, more confident person. I had to go through the preliminary stuff for a whopping 9 months- so if you are going through all that just be patient- it'll all work out in time!

Okay so here I am, two weeks post op and I lost 20 lbs so far thank G-d! I'm 21 years old and mother to one toddler. I need to lose 200 lbs so I know it will be a long journey... I was 180 pounds three years ago, since I'm tall and broad I was not fat but also not skinny. Then I became pregnant and gained 64 lbs...after my baby I tried losing weight. I tried OA, the blood type diet, Atkins...my problem was I would diet binge diet binge diet binge...so for every pound I lost I gained two...one year and a hundred pounds later I started thinking of surgery. I have a lap band , and am ready for the next chapter of my life!

My day finally arrived and I was very nervous/anxious. I checked in at the hospital at 8am for an 11am surgery. Once they took me off to the OR, I don't remember much but my surgeon was there when I woke up and told me that everything went well. I was still very sleepy and woke up again later. Once I transferred to my room, I started to feel some nausea and discomfort. They gave me all the nausea medications they had and I felt much better. The pain pump was awesome and every time I pressed the button I would fall asleep I found walking to be very difficult the first day but I did it nonetheless. Getting up and down off the bed was my biggest challenge and I rea…

Hi everybody. I've been reading the forums and cheering yall on for a few months now. I currently have the lap band. I've had it a few years and was never really successful with it. The little bit that I lost I gained back plus some. I made the decision to have the revision to sleeve done. It took me about a year to make that decision but I'm hoping to finally live my life to the fullest. I got the call today that I'm approved! I'm scheduled for March 2nd. Seems as if it took forever to get here but now seems like a whirlwind. I'm very excited and very afraid to fail at this one too. Yall are so encouraging and informative. I can't wait!
