Today is the day I've been waiting for, for a very, very long time. And it's finally here. Officially, this morning I've lost 100 POUNDS!!! Please friends, there is no need in sending out a search party. There is absolutely no reward in their return. In fact, I've got 34 more to lose to hit my goal. DON'T look for them, don't find them. They are no good, bad news!! Today is a blessed day. <3

Hey there everyone, I'm new to the site as of a few weeks ago. Just getting into the forums for advice. I'm currently 8 days post op via VGS. Little about me, my highest weight was 337, went through 8 months of hoops to be approved and lost down to 296. Now as of this morning I'm even lighter having lost another 8 pounds since surgery. So I am at the smallest weight in over 20 years,,, 288 pounds!! I just can't believe it, I've been big my entire life, never really lost weight without gaining double back. So I'm so excited to be starting a new life! I've been reading all of your post and advice and it has really helped me keep chugging along! I want to thank you all! I …

Bon & raised in Long Island NY on August 17,1989. I've struggled with my weight most of my life. After being diagnose with type two diabetes in 2012 I knew that I neded to make a change and fast or my life would be over before it had even started. This hasn't been an easy journey but I'am truly blessed and greatful for how far I have come. I started off at 325 back in 2012 and now I'am 184 and still going. Last Thursday I received a tummy tuck and coming upon a week since I've had it.. I'm anxious to share my story & here from others

Hello! I'm new to this site. I had my gastric bypass surgery Feb 2, 2015, and things are going very well. The first couple of weeks were tough ... some constipation, nausea, vomiting, fatigue ... but things turned around into the third week and it's wonderful! No regrets at all. There is definitely a learning curve trying to figure out what you can and can't eat, how much, when, etc., but it's well worth it. At six weeks out from surgery I have lost 40 pounds! Yay! I've been exercising like a crazy person, working very hard to replace bored or stress eating with MOVING! It works if you set your mind to it. I say why replace bad addictions with more bad addic…

Before you have gastric bypass they warn you of a few things. 1. You can gain the weight back 2. Alcoholism is a possible side effect after surgery 3. food that used to fill you up or make you sick won't do that as much after awhile 4. Smoking cigarettes causes ulcers post-op My mom always says no matter how much I'm warned - I've always had to learn every lesson the hard way. Gastric bypass was that way too. My story is just a warning for all you newbies out there - all the stuff they warn you about is real. Hey, I'm Kaylee and I had my surgery when I was 20 years old on June 11, 2012. I was 280lbs. In less than 8 months I got down to 150 lbs, 130lbs lost. For…

Hello! I'm new to BariatricPal and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Elaine and I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 2/10/15. I lost 15 lbs pre-op on my liquid diet and 21 lbs since the surgery. I go for my post-op month appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. I think it's awesome that I lost 36 lbs so far and I can't wait to see more weight loss! I've been stalled for about 2 weeks now with my weight loss and I can't lie...it's been messing with my head a bit. This has happened to me in the past with my other attempts at weight loss. My body doesn't like me to lose anything over 40 lbs apparently. I don't think it will have a choice this time. I st…

Stressing the heck out. Here for my all day pre-op informational and the girl at the front desk is so awful I want to leave. Not the type of support I was hoping for. Ugggg. Sorry to vent, but I think I feel I deserve a smile or a greeting on one of the most stressful decisions I've ever made.

Hi all! I was sleeved open March 9th and things have been going great! I nailed a the two week pre-op diet, and the four week post-op diet is going equally well. That said, I'm thinking about what to expect with my first real food experience and my new stomach. There must be several people (including me!) who would love to hear from people currently going through that transition. Thanks and good luck to all!

Hi everyone. My name is Ashlee, I am 27 and I'm a pre-op candidate for gastric bypass. I live in San Diego, CA (and have all my life!) and my surgeon is Dr. Julie Ellner. I'm very new to the process and I don't personally know anybody who has had weight loss surgery so I'm looking forward to meeting others who are walking this path with me. I'm especially interested in talking to other young ladies close to my age (20s-early 30s) who have had any weight loss surgery. I recently attended a support group and found that there was nobody there close to my age and somebody 55 isn't going to have the same emotional and social struggles that someone 27 is (no offense if you'r…

Hi folks. I've been lurking for a few months. My surgery is scheduled for 2 1/2 weeks from now. My reasons: I couldn't be in my brother's wedding. They don't make suits in my size. I had to stand up in the back during my sister's wedding. The chairs were too small and weak. I hate my CPAP. My dad had a health scare last year. I'm tired of getting pulled aside for "I love you, but..." lectures when the family gets together for the holidays. I've lost around 50 pounds since I got serious with my sugar-free high-Protein diet back in October, but it's already starting to stall.

I fooled myself. I didn't think the pain would be this bad. Anyone else do this? The pain isn't so much a sharp pain. It feels like I'm bruised inside. Which I guess I am. Any suggestions on how to cope? Besides pain meds. I don't want to rely on those completely. Does it get better each day?

Hello.... Newbie here. I just found this forum and was glad to see some responses that answered some of my questions from other sleevers. My scary issue is that I don't feel full?!! I had my sleeve performed on 3/2/15. My original Weight was 249, pre op 239 and now currently at 225. I'm not complaining about my weight loss as I think this is awesome!!! My concern is that I don't feel full. I am on my 3rd week of full liquids and when I drink my fluids and can't tell when to stop. Obviously I follow the measurements but my concern is that this was the reason of my weight gain. I keep eating!!! Am I doing this wrong, how do you know when to stop?

Hi, I had my sleeve done January 8,2015 because I was tired of taking insulin for my diabetes still most of the time feeling tire. My sugar readings were great the first seven week and than I started feeling bad. My diabetes came back and I was back to feeling like my old self again. I am back on my medication and very unhappy about. Will this too pass? I sure hope so. I have lost 34 pounds, look good but hoping I don't have to continue to take this insulin forever. Has anyone ever been thru this before. Please Help! Also, I am tire of eating yogurts, and shakes etc. What else is there to eat and drink? We can't drink sodas, so what are we suppose to drink? …

Hello, I'm really nervous while I'm writing this. Guess it's kind of life changing. I filled out the questionnaire for Cleveland clinic WLS. I just got a call today scheduling my appointments for medical doctor, nutritionist, and With Phillip Schauer the surgeon. MD and Nut is scheduled for April 15. Nutritionist for April 22. Meet with Dr. Schauer on May 3rd. I'm nervous about the process and ready to improve my health. Any tips? What I need to get gathered or work on in the meantime? My medical insurance is United Healthcare. CCF advised me it was covered under my insurance.

I've had a pretty rough go of it in the first 5 weeks, I've been hospitalized twice for dehydration due to not keeping anything - including water - down, and had a 2nd surgery almost 4 weeks after RNY to fix a stricture and a bowel obstruction. I'm still trying to recover from the 2nd surgery, which has been much more difficult because I wasn't 100% healed from the first, and I was so weak and sick from the complications that arose leading to needing the additional surgery. Today I stepped on the scale and am exactly 30lbs down from surgery day, a total of 60.6lbs down from my highest weight, so there's that! My surgeon is amazing and the group I'm with is the cream of t…

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if any of you have allergies to soy and dairy? I had surgery (Gastic Bypass) on Dec 22. and knew it would be hard because of the allergy intollerances to soy and dairy but figured I would do ok with egg white protien and or brown rice protien or even bean protien. But as it has turned out I can not do any of them...I am struggling to get in Protein and was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how you dealt with it? I am able to eat half a slice bacon or half an egg at a time, but as you can imagine, I can not get in enough protien that way, as I juggle trying trying to get in enough Water versus the food! It has been…

Hi everyone, I am pre-op day 3 and so far so good. Surgery is scheduled for March 24. I am both excited and nervous. I started my process in July 2014 and completed the 6 months of nutrition courses and all the pre-operative testing. Things went slow in the beginning, but since I got my approval, time is flying by! I am so glad that I found this forum and the resources all of you provide.

My name is Debbie and I am 59 years old. I had the gastric sleeve in June of 2014. I have lost 52 pounds and have hit a plateau. I will loose a few pounds and then gain it back. I was addicted to sweets before the surgery and found that I could still eat them afterward becasue they are a sliderr food. I do well if I eat some protien first and then have a little bit of vegetables for dinner and a roll up of a thin slice of low sodium cheese and turkey for lunch. For Breakfast I can have a little yogurt with a little Kashi Cereal in it or a protien bar and coffee. The only time I can dink liquids with food is coffee. I have been trying for all this time to get more …

Hi everyone! It seems I was a little late to join any sort of support forum for my surgery.. Better late than never, right? I got my gastric sleeve done a little over two years ago and its been quite a ride... Just wanted to give a little insight on what its like for me a few years later and also get some feedback. Now a days I go to the gym alot... I used to not have any energy but ever since I completely cut out any refined sugars I feel more energetic than ever and its funny how before after 20 min at the gym I was wondering when this eliptical hell will be over... and now, now I can just keep going and going and going... Anyways, I can basically eat anyt…

I hope it will be of benefit to someone and hopefully it will give you some insight into what I had to deal with and what lead me to have the surgery. Robin's Weight Loss Journey.doc

Hello my name is Andrew and I am 28 years old. I had a Gastric Sleeve surgery about a year in a half ago at a time when I really needed it. I was about 420 pounds and was having numerous health problems (sleep apnea, breathing, mobility issues, exc). My journey is far from complete and I am starting to have doubts. Right now I have lost about 110 pounds total from when I started the process and am having some issues with food. Essentially my weight has been pretty steady for quite sometime (6 months) at the 315 range (although I am in a bit of a down turn at 303). I think I got as low as 280 but know I gained some of it back. On the one hand I am happy with my succes…

I've been so confident that this WLS is what I wanted. I so sure that I want a change in life. I want my life to continue. I want to see my grandchildren and my future children. I want to grow old with my wife. I want. I want. I want. I honestly believe that this is the only thing that will get me these things. Then as I was reading some posts, I came across a post where someone needed to have his heart restarted twice while in surgery. For the first time my faith in the process has been shaken. I've read all the horror stories about complications but none of them have shaken me like this one. There is possibility, however small it might be, that I could die during th…

Now the great thing, I went to see my Doctor who advised me to stop my two pressure medicines and one Water pill. This is beyond amazing. After so many years of taking so many different meds to control my pressure, I am med- free. Two Months..... Two Fills..... No More Meds..... And down 10 inches on my waist. This is what AMAZING feels like!!!!!

Hi Everyone! My name is Christopher and I currently reside on the Southside of Atlanta in McDonough, GA. I just had Gastric Bypass surgery on 1/27/15 at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. The staff at the hospital was just awesome... they took excellent care of me and I couldn't be happier with the hospital staff and especially my surgeon - Dr. Christopher Hart of Atlanta Bariatric. It's also very important to recognize the people behind the scenes who you normally do not see - the surgery scheduler, the insurance coordinator, etc. I am 42 years old (born on leap year) and my starting weight was 355 lbs. I am on the stage one diet which consists on clear broths, nectar Protein…

In February 2009 I had a band placed and lost 35 kg over two years. It was a very slow process as my metabolism was very slow and I could eat hardly any food. In 2011 I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in my lap band moved and I put on 75 kg. and a maximum of 175 kg in October 2014 I had the band removed and a bypass surgery. My two nights day became a seven night stay due to major complications which resulted in me having to additional surgeries that same week to fix. Since then I have now lost 48 kg and have never been better. I no longer suffer from reflux and I'm careful with what I eat but I can eat which is more than I could with the band. Only downside is in the …

One week from today I am having gastric sleeve surgery. I am currently on a full liquid 800 calorie diet that started 3 days ago. Most people are on a liquid diet 4 to 5 days before surgery, but because I'm diabetic my surgeon wanted me to start 10 days before. I was wondering how many others had to be on a liquid diet for greater than 5 days before surgery also any advice or inspiration to help working through this constant hunger feeling???

I received news from my case worker yesterday that Medicare needs no approval. Has anyone else has the sleeve with Medicare as your ins? They gave me a date of Oct 27th for surgery. Just said they send all your paper work in after surgery. I've had to jump through hoops with all that I've done so here's hoping she's right. I don't want to go through the surgery and find I owe the dr and hospital. To be safe I think I'll call medicare myself.

I started my journey in Juarez, Mexico on 9/12/2014. I weighed in at 5'4.5", 247 lbs. I just returned home today greatfull to see my children and sleep in my bed. I was sleeved by a great team of docs lead by Dr. Jose Rodriquez Villarreal (Dr. Rod). My thanks to Dr. Rod, Dr. Calderon, Dr. Aramburo, Dr Solis, Dr. Castillo and Dr. Vizcama. As the child of two wonderful docs and the sister of one as well, I know good medical personel when I meet them. I am a difficult patient to please and I didn't have one complaint. So I wanted to record my journey somehow, i was thinking about starting a blog, but because I am still on the fence about that, I am going to log my journey here. This way I can look back and see the struggles, and the rewards. I have been overweight for a lot of my life. I am an emotional eater, I use food for love, for friendship, for boredom, for social purposes.. pretty much for everything. Food is definitely a drug for me. Well, let me rephrase, sugar, high fat foods, and salt, are a drug for me. I am most definitely not addicted to veggies. Lol I have dieted for most of my life. I have gained and lost hundreds of pounds. I have tried pretty much every die…

Yesterday was my 2 week since my surgery and my doctor appointment and my first fill of 4cc. I had to drink water before I left the office to make sure it went down. Ok, I was fine. Now what I don't understand is when it was time to eat I was a little scared because of all what I read about vomiting, food not going down. But to my surprise when I eat I felt no restrictions. Is that possible I'm hoping someone can share the light on this for me.

I was banded March 28th 2013. I was 23 years old and had enough money in my pocket to pay for my lapband without borrowing. I woke up miserable. The first 3 days I cried because of what I had done to my body. Then the weight started falling off. It's pretty hard to be upset when you lose 30 pounds in 2 months. I didn't have many issues. Pretty much normal lapband stuff. Eat slow, chew everything, choose your food carefully. I vomited (like every other bandster out there) but for the most part it was fine. December of that year I started having more issues. More food intolerance than before. Vomiting became an everyday occurrence. I ignored it until July 2014. I started v…
