Heyy Heyy guys!! So it's my 8 week post op.. I'm down 51 pounds!! It feels amazing. I can honestly say this is the best decision I've EVER made in my life, besides marrying my best friend in da whole world who also is 5 weeks post op and has lost a total of 30 pounds. This is insane! Our skins are so dry, and my incisions still feel like their itchy, scaly and sometimes they leak a yellow fluid. Is dat normal?? Besides that were doing GGGGREAT ! How's everyone feeling??

Hello everyone ! My name is Quiona and I am 24 years old. My sleeves birthday is January 29th. Just the other day we celebrated 1month ... I am beyond happy with my procedure. I am down over 40lbs and the changes to my body are drastic. As far as food I've been able to tolerate whatever I decide to eat. I don't do carbs, sugars or fat(by choice) . I eat crackers though. I go to the gym twice a day for a total of 4 hours and every morning before I head to the gym I walk my dog for 3miles. I think the surgery has been one of the best decisions I've made in my life! I'm posting two pictures for some motivation for others . Good luck on your journey !

I had the lap band and gastric plication on 2/17. However, when I woke up from the surgery I knew something was wrong. I was in severe pain and couldn't stop vomiting. They encouraged me to take very small sips of water and try to walk as much as possible. I thought they knew what they were talking about, so I tried my hardest. However, I was still vomiting profusely. After the first day, they sent me for a scan with contrast. It appeared everything was moving correctly, but my stomach was emptying very slowly. They found nothing wrong, but I couldn't stop vomiting. I couldn't even keep one extremely small crushed piece of ice down. They tried all nausea medicines and not…

I am still in the process of going through all of the testing prior to surgery. I will meet with my doctor next week and he will tell me what my surgery date will be. I still have the fear that he will refuse me even though I'm the perfect candidate. Did anyone else have this worry?

Good Morning! I wanted to share my story.. I'm so inspired by all of the posts, support and pictures in this group. I'm 23.. My weight issue started young. I was assaulted several times when I was younger, tied in with being in a hostile home.. I used weight to stop the attacks. I felt that the rape would stop if I got bigger.. I would be less desireable. It continued.. Into my young adult life. I realized I allowed the pain to consume me, the violation hidden deeper as my waistline got wider. But I'm taking back the power I gave to my attackers. My Lord has been so great to me, and I will not fail. No more feeling like I'm 80 when I'm so young. No more joint pain. No …

I had my gastric sleeve surgery a week ago and maybe I am the exception but I did not have a lot of the side effects that I have read about on here or on You Tube Documentaries. I have had no nausea at all and no pain to amount to much. I have had three spinal fusions and have had chronic back pain for 10 years so pain is nothing new to me. I have had no difficulty in swallowing but my diet is still liquid until the 11th of March. I have to admit I am pretty much tired of no solid foods but that is coming. I keep waiting for something to happen but so far this has been as good or better than I expected for just being a week out. In three weeks I have lost 30 li…

Its day one of post op from RNY surgery! Very uncomfortable but managing. Mostly the pressure from the air pumped into me during surgery. All looks good and can't wait to get home to begin my journey! Staying comfortable with meds. Up and sitting in chair sipping water 25ml every 30mins. Hope this gives some of you a glimpse of what to expect.

I'm having RNY March 16th. I am new to the forum and would appreciate any support I can get. My family and close friends have been great but they're 'normal' weight. What ever that is. I heard the first 2 days of the pre-op liquid are the worst. I also just started my monthly cycle so I'm totally stressing. Any words of encouragement that helped you please send them my way. Thanks

I had my sleeve last Thursday. I feel pretty good! Still have one spot where the muscle engages when I stand or sit or get up from the bed, and still having some trouble sleeping. But I haven't felt the need for any pain meds since Saturday, I'm getting out and walking and enjoying this Northern California February. I came home on Friday -- the ride home was pretty rough but I made it. Wish I had brought a pillow or something to hold on my belly while in the car. No nausea, vomiting, any weird symptoms!! For five days out I feel pretty darn good!!

I had my lap band surgery on 1/27/15. The gas pains were the worst, I will say. However that is now all a distant memory. I think I'm doing well, I've lost 13 pounds since surgery (56 total since August). I've also lost 13 total inches since surgery. I love that I can not only see it but more importantly feel it. I have to think the band is truly working for me. I haven't had a fill yet (I go March 12th) but I can honestly say I am able to go 4-5 hours without being hungry and can stay at 4oz total food per meal. I don't snack at all aside from a glass of skim milk nightly. Is it possible for the band to work this well without any fluid? (Not that I'm complaining!) I'…

Hello! My name is Elizabeth I will be 35 on the 13th of this month and I had the gastric sleeve done on Feb 23rd. ( about 6 days ago) I thought I would have an easy going, smooth, surgery and hospital stay. It didn't quite work out that way. After surgery I started having problems with my drain, My average output was I think 500-800 cc a shift. Needless to say, my hemoglobin went as low as 6 and I needed a blood transfusion, also, my kidneys started acting up. My labs were all over the place and had to have my labs drawn multiple times a day. I have one good vein that they kept the IV in and oh it was torture every time someone had to come in and draw them. So I did not…

As of this morning, I weight 189.8 pounds. I cannot tell you how much joy I felt over seeing this number. For me this was bigger than getting under 200, because I've actually managed to get below 200 several times in the past 5 years or so, but this is only the second time I've gotten under 190! The moment was especially sweet because at last week's weigh-in (I "officially" weigh on Mondays) I was at 191.8 and all week I had actually gone up, seeing 192.2 and 192.4 every morning, so I was expecting to maintain this week, at best. But, nope! There it was this morning! 189.8. I even did my trick where I re-weigh myself holding a bunch of heavy stuff, then weigh myself aga…

Hi everyone! I've been a "lurker" for a couple months reading everything I can about the sleeve journey. This is my first "real" post. My surgery is scheduled for April 2nd and I'm both excited and terrified, all at the same time. I've been over weight my entire adult life, and most of my family is overweight and suffer from a variety of weight related health issues. I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure and have been doing what I refer to as the "pre-diabetes dance" for the last year or so with my rising and falling A1C. I am so excited for what lies ahead of me, and so encouraged by all the positive stories others have shared.

My name is Candice and I live in west Texas. I've been BIG all my life. I had surgery March of last year and I've lost around 100 lbs and then just stopped. I have another 100 lbs I want to loose and skin that needs to be taken off.. I have recently become lost and unbearably depressed. I know I should be happy, I should be working as hard as I can to get out of this stall, but instead I wallow... I cry.. I've gotten so bad that I now know it's true, you can be so depressed that it actually hurts. I live in an area that doesn't have therapists or places for help with things like this. I don't have friends, they've all turned their backs on me... I'm lost and don't know …

Hi everyone, My name is Jerry, I am 36 years old living in San Antonio, Texas. I have been overweight pretty much my entire life. Throughout high school and college, I was heavy. Yet I still managed to maintain somewhat of an active lifestyle. The college I went to had a huge campus, and I walked everywhere. I probably averaged several miles a day walking from class to class. That activity seemed to be enough to keep my weight in check. However as I've gotten older, I've begun to experience more and more health issues due to my weight. It has also affected my lifestyle. Just doing simple things now are more difficult than they should be. Riding on the roller c…

Most of you know me. you know that I had bad medical care when I complained to both my surgeon and pcp. they used medications to correct reflux and pain instead of upper gi with barium. so I ended up with a messed up esophagus. I cannot or lets say the doctor will no longer do fills. I have 5 cc in a 14 cc band. I need to diet. as you all know diet doesn't work when your tool isn't helping in the lest. but I can do a bit more to start the wt. loss again. my only option is a revision. if I go that route I will do a ds. it is easy on the esophagus and that's what I need. I got down to 215 when I couldn't eat due to the reflux and pb'ing. I have gained 15lbs when the band wa…

I had my VSG done Feb. 3rd. Im about 4 weeks out and have only lost 10pds. during post op. I started at 259 on surgery date. Im a little discouraged because my surgeon used a size 40 bougie and during my 2week dr.appt., I asked the Dr. about what percent of my stomach did he remove and he said about 60%. I dont even think he cut close to the bougie for a slimmer sleeve. But there medical practice advertise cutting out at least 80 to 85%. Do you think this has something to do with my slow to no weight loss by him only cutting out 60% and not at least 80%. Yes, I could only drink liquids during the 1st week but at the 2nd week, I was eating reg. foods like salmon, hamburger…

Here's my story.... I was born small for my height. I weight 5lbs 5oz and was 20 inches long. In 1976 that was still long and skinny. Well I stayed that way till puberty. 5th grade hit me and suddenly I was wearing size 2 jeans and a dd bra. I've never been tiny up top. Middle school came and went and I slowly gained weight but mostly muscle. I was active and never sat still but was the life of the party with my huge top half. Well I got pregnant at 17. Lost the weight right after was back in my 13 s and looked great. Married the baby's dad then proceeded to spit out 3 more kids for him in 5 years. Gained almost 100 lbs and no amount of trying could get it off me. 2000 …

I want to thank Dr. John DeBarros and his wonderful staff at the WLIA for all their professional assistance with my new journey in life. I started this Journey April 2014 and 6 months ago finally had my lap band surgery. After the first month post op I felt like a new person, full of energy, able to breath without wheezing and able to stand up from a sitting position without pain in my knees. I have continued to be successful each and every day. I love all the compliments I receive from everyone that see's the new me. Without all the knowledge Dr. Debarros and his staff have given me I wouldn't of been as successful with this journey as I am today. Two thumbs up....…

It's been six weeks since my lap band surgery and I have to tell you so far I am extremely happy of how it is helping me lose my weight. I underlined that because I see alot of people who are somewhat disheartened with their outcome so far. The band will not work miracles for you. Its a 50/50 plan that you have to work with as well. You can do it and you can make this happen for you. So far in the past 6 weeks I am proud to say that 51 pounds are gone that I will never see back again. Sayonara, Good Riddence and dont let the door hit you in the #$%. Best of Luck to all

Hello all, I'm four days post opt and this is not the best it so hard for me to get liquids down, hot fluids I tolerate better than cold but it's still a struggle to get anything down. I exhausted all the time and want to lay down and sleep but I remember I have to move walk and stay a little active. I didn't believe this would take that much out of me considering all the great success stories I've been reading. I trying to stay positive because everything was a success and I don't have diabetes anymore which is a blessing in itself. Anyway, I just want to let you all know what was going on with me and how I'm feeling.

It has been 10 months since my lap band surgery and I am down 73 pounds! I feel incredible. I work out regularly, my feet and hips no longer ache at night. I would do it again without hesitation. Having lap band surgery was the best decision I have ever made. The attached pic shows where I started, where I was at 6 months and where I was last week.
