My first initial visit with Dr. Michael Orris and the WLIA staff was very professional and thorough. The staff took their time to go over all my questions and explain how the process is for my procedure with the lapband. They made me feel very comfortable and made sure I knew exactly what was involved. I feel really good about my first interaction with them and plan to move forward with the next step in my journey.

Hi!!! My name is Ella. Many years ago I met and fell in love with a wonderful, warm, caring, gentle, giving, loving,BEAUTIFUL man named Thomas. Time and place separated us, but somehow we always managed to find each other somewhere again. I guess it was just simply meant to be. As long as I have known and loved Thomas he has been the size he is now. He has always, not struggled with his weight, but for better choice of words wanted better for himself health wise and also cosmetically. i tell him time and time again that I fell in love with him for WHO he is not what he looks like. But this surgery has always been at the back of his mind as something he has wanted …

I am currently working with 5-6 women who have had the sleeve done over the last year, by the same physician. My husband and I have been to the seminar and I have been to my first initial visit with the doctor. Currently awaiting insurance approval. I just finished spending three hours taping to paint a room. Getting on the floor. Climbing ladders. Bending over. Reaching in awkward positions. And I'm not sore or tired. I'm ready to go all night. I forgot what it's like to be skinny. No worries that climbing the side of the scaffold would flip it cause I'm heavier that it is. Yes I climbed it before at 325 and It was scary. This is my second chance to lead a normal life. I would do it a million times over. I miss food yes. But I missed being skinny more!

I got my lap band in 2006 and loved it. I lost over 100lbs and felf great. However I had to have it removed last November 2014 due to slippage. Trying to get approved for a sleeve. I talked to two different Doctors, both recomended to have the surgerys done seperatly, giving time for the scar tissue, etc. to heal. I am now fighting with my insurance company. My wonderful Doctor even called and had a Peer to Peer in my defence trying to get insurance approval. I have written 2 appeal letters and have been denied 3 times. It is now in the hands of a third party. I was wondering if there are others out there with similar storys. I am going throught with the surgery …

I have been overweight for over 10 years, resulting in more and more medical conditions as I age. I have lost the same 30 pounds at least four times. I am looking to the gastric sleeve as a tool for better health for a better quality of life. I am a very active person who enjoys the outdoors and all it has to offer. I like camping, boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, and Jeeping off road. I hope to live a long life and do all the things I enjoy with my active (skinny) husband. Then, boom, my weight just kept coming off. For the longest time. When I looked in the mirror, I saw a fat woman. A few days ago, I was getting into the shower and was shocked at what I looked like. I also just had a tummy tuck on 3\20\15. Still recovering. I am stuck on calorie counting. Plus I have no appetite. Some days I can only eat a half can of soup, all day. Example, 5:07 p.m. and I have not eaton today. No appetite. Also, my insurance cut my doctor's out. I need someone wh…

My name is Kerrie. I am getting ready to start my preop diet on this upcoming Weds. I had the band put in in 2011 and had to have it removed Dec 2014. I did have some few minor issues with it but really did find it very helpful, until it finally slipped. I lost about 50 lbs which was not nearly all the weight I needed to lose, however i felt good, I kept it off and it kept me from gaining any more. Since I had to have the band removed I have already gained appx 25 lbs and feel terrible. I am looking forward to getting the sleeve, however I am VERY nervous at the same time, as we would all like to be guaranteed to come out healthy and have no surgical complications.…

Originally I was interested in the lap band, but since I live 4 hours away from Ft Worth, we both decided that the best thing would be for to get sleeve. I felt good apin wise after the surgery. The only thing I am having trouble with is the gas that I am still expelling slowly. That is the only pain I have and it makes it difficult to drink anything. I weighed 382 at my pre-op appointment and went on full liquid diet for two weeks before my surgery. I lost a little under 30 pounds byt doing this. A scary proposition, but there were 3 other guys from my work who had used the same doctor successfully. I weighed in at 265 pounds, which I know feels like the smaller side for a sleeve, but with a previous back surgery and very bad genetics, I was already noticing serious problems. I have lost 12 pounds, but have been pretty stressed out with the abdominal gas and still feeing the addiction to pizza and fast food. But I am pushing forward. My biggest issue right now is the fatigue and muscle aches I get when I wake up and before bed. I hope this is norm…

Hello, I am new here and relatively new to being sleeved, which I had done on 7/28/14. My highest weight was pushing almost 380 pounds. I was hovering between 350-360 pounds for many years. I was turning 50 years old (actually "young" ) last year and wanted to take hold of my weight issues, which I struggled with for a good portion of my life. I was tired of feeling weak, having low stamina, low self-esteem and wanted to no longer have type-2 diabetes (~2+ years), sleep apnea, higher BP, higher cholesterol and low-T. Most of all, I was worried about something happening to me and not being there to support my family and leave my children without a father; the onl…

While I've always known that I eat more at certain times, today it's so evident how much I eat in order to stuff one particular emotion. Yesterday I had a fairly good day considering it was the first day of my LSD. But today, I got into a fight with my roommate and all I want to do is stuff my face. The urge to eat is so friggin strong! So I'm sitting here thinking... "I have lots of Percocet's and I can take those and fall asleep until diner." Now tell me, how screwed up is that? (mo…

I have been poking around on the forums and wanted to introduce myself. I am a 39 yo mom of 2 boys, 10 and 7. At my recent check up, my doctor suggested I look into sleeve or bypass as a weight loss option. I am current 240lbs, but only 5'1". I have tried dieting, weight watchers, etc. over the past 15 years with little success. I always gain it back plus more. I went to an info session and am leaning towards the sleeve procedure. Any newbie suggestions, comments, advice would be appreciated. I am so glad there is this forum out there where I can share with others going through the same feelings!
