PRE SURGERY SCARES

just joined and been looking around, Im a 45 yr old Mother of 5 and Grandmother of 3 and feel completely alone. Dont get wrong I have a loving and supporting family but know one gets it..So heres my story!!!!Back in 2012 I was rushed in to St Lukes Hospital in Maumee Ohio with a ruptured bowel and almost died. I woke up to a ostomy bag on my stomach and had to wear this thing for a year. Then 2 days out of surgery my Mom tells me she has stage 4 Lung Cancer.I can honestly tell you as a woman i was so crushed i didnt want to go on.....So i got my big girl panties on and took care of my self and Mom it took her 9mths to go and i was there every step of the way. In 2012 i had my bag reversed and things put back to normal thk god..and here i am. I started my journey with wieght loss in Sept 2014 and Im scheduled for surgery Feb11 and Im tellin ya Im scared and excited...i cant wait to see my snacks again folks...i mean for real!!!! Welcome. I hope this board is helpful. My only recommendation is focus on the positive.

My husband is scheduled for Feb 11 too! I will follow 2 weeks later! I am relatively new on here as well and it has been very comforting to hear everyone's journey. I get the impression that most people are both scared and excited. I thought it was just me being a nurse and knowing too much.....but it is a normal process! All will go well, however I understand the feeling of the fear of life as we know it changing! Food will no longer be the focus and we will have to make huge lifestyle changes....and change can be scary....however, in our cases the change comes in a package of better health, more energy, better body image.....the list is long! You will do great!
