As of yesterday I am 12 weeks post op. When I came on today to update my ticker I got excited. I noticed I only have 7 more lbs to lose till my weight lost is MORE than my weight to left to lose to get to my goal weight. Just thought that was cool. Now grant it 175 is my first goal weight, but I know my doc wants me a little lower. But one step at a time. Also on another note......2 more lbs to go till the 240's!!! Hope everyone has a great day!!!!

Hi all. I had my lap band surgery surgery 3 years ago this month and after a long miserable 3 years I am now 1 pound lighter than when I had my surgery. Never thought I would even consider another surgery, but now I'm waiting on approval to get a revision. I need to lose 125 pounds and my doctor recommended the sleeve for me instead of the switch because I'm 28 and want to have children very soon. But he said I would only lose an average 60 pounds with the sleeve. He said I could come back and do the switch after I'm done having kids... But I don't want to have to have another surgery, I want to do it right this time. My main concern is having children right after th…

  4. So I did it! I have officially had the gastric sleeve and so far the results have been pretty good. I got the surgery on 1/13 and I weighed 316 pounds. As of today 1/19 I am down to 299. I've lost 17 pounds in 6 days. Talk about EXCITED ! 've NEVER lost that much weight in a month, let alone less than a week. So I have nothing but good things to say about the surgery. Body wise, I'm good. I honestly have had NO pain where the cuts were. Weird right? But yup absolutely none. I've had some really bad back pains but I've had those prior to the surgery and it was also explained to me that because I would be laying flat on the operating table that it can cause some extra back …

Hey guys, I just finished making my 2 year Surgerversary video. It wound up being much longer - 1 1/2 hours long - than I expected. I didn't know if I should upload the video as one long video or break it up into 20 - 30 minute segments in a playlist. So I thought I'd ask you guys what you preferred? Thanks for taking my poll.

I want to cry at how overwhelming all of this is! I want this surgery so bad that waiting to do a diet makes it seem hopeless... I get the liquid diet 3 weeks before surgery, but the 6 month thing seems kinda shady to me. If a crack head needs rehab do you say ok now dear u must go with no crack for 6 months and then we will help u. ????. For a lot of us this is food addiction related and 6 months may be too late. I'm done venting and crying now lol. Much love and respect to all of u that made it through the weight loss journey without goin crazy!!!!

Tuesday morning at 8am I check in for my sleeve surgery at OHSU in Portland Oregon. I was very nervous a week ago but now I'm just anxious to get it over with and begin the steps to a healthier life. I've lost about 25lbs so far and, everything being perfect, would like to lose another 110lbs. Yesterday i went on a nice hike that was much steeper than I expected. I ended up climbing about 1600 feet and back on rain-soaked muddy trails, and now my muscles are really sore. But I don't think there is any chance I could have accomplished that even a couple months ago. I haven't had the surgery yet, and already I'm I'm living a healthier, happier life. Just thinking …

Wow. So after weeks of crrraaaaviiing sushi... 3 days before surgery...I had some. And it was good. And I felt satisfied. Satisfied...with a side of guilt. Monday (day before surgery) I have to eat according to the list of things I was given at hospital which will eventually end in clear liquid dinner. Any tips?

I'm due to have my surgery Jan 7th and I'm petrified, both of the opp and post opp, I know my eating habits need to change but can you have the rare treat of say french bread? Or steak (grilled of course) just that all I've seen in this forum is talk of puréed foods and not how anyone can tolerate certain solid foods, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx ????

Friday I went in for my one month follow-up with the surgeon following my sleeve gastrectomy on Dec 16th. I'm down 35 pounds, blood pressure is great. Scars are there, but hardly anything too speak of. Other than the (sometimes TERRIBLE) constipation that I have experienced intermittently, my recovery has been fantastic. I'm feeling great, and not being tempted by the food around me. I've been to a few group support meetings, but none of them really "fit" me. I need to find one in Los Angeles with similarly aged men. The groups I visited were primarily women much older than me, and while the vibe was all positive, I could tell that their needs as "recoverers" were d…

  12. My name is Justin Wiseman. I would love to share my story with you. I have been bigger than everyone around me for as long as I can remember. I have my report card from kindergarten and there in black ink under my weight is 100 lbs. Wow, 100 lbs at 5? All the doctors my mom took me to said I would grow out of it, but the only thing I grew out of was my pants. Well actually jogging pants because that was the only thing my mother could find to fit me. Food was my world, it was my everything. It made me happy and took all the pain away. By the time I was in middle school I was over 250 pounds, and when I graduated high school I was over 400 pounds. After high school I pretty…

After 4 kids my max weight had reached up to 267 lbs. I couldn't believe it. It's like size 12 gradually went to size 20. While my hudbad is wonderful and loves me at any size I knew the weight gain was unhealthy. I read somewhere that losing weight after 35 gets more difficult and it was true. I had enough of 20 lbs here and there. So I consulted with my doctor after medication for weight management for 3 months I lost 20 lbs but in my heart I had decided on surgery. 29. I have been preparing for gastric bypass surgery since Feb. of 2014. My visits for my 6 months of dr appointments started in March, and ended in Sept. My final visit was Sept 25th 2014. My doctor sent my all of my papers/file to the surgeon and everything was going great. Sept 27th I was walking my dog and cracked my fifth metatarsal on my left foot in half. The office manager called that monday the 29th and said I was approved and we needed to schedule. I told her about what happened. The doctor called and said I wasn't able to have my surgery during the time of my broken foot because I would not be mobile enough. I was devastated to say the least. I stayed in a cast fro…

Hey guys, First off, I wanted to say thanks for all the support and information I've gotten from Bariatricpal and it's community. I've come to learn we all go through the same set of doubts and fears and worries - no matter what type of WLS we've had. So here's my attempt to try and pay if forward. I kinda shot myself in the foot, creating an hour and half long video that was 13 gigabytes in size. Processing a video that size has taken my computer days, not to mention the additional time it will take to upload to Youtube. So I've had to break it into segments. I've posted my body shot video 1st because it was the shortest video segment. I'm going to get more of …

I am scheduled for my first fill later this month, approximately 6 weeks post surgery. I don't want it yet. Part of it is fear (of being too tight, having reflux, getting stuck, etc.). The other part is that I think I am doing ok on the weight loss and changes to my eating habits. Of course I lost a lot of weight during the post-surg liquid diet, and since I have been on regular food I am continuing to lose (not as fast though). I am comfortable with this pace and don't want to mess with it. I am comfortble with the band as is (and yes I can feel it working). 40. Well after six months of planning, lab tests, docter visits, psychological evalutions and a 14 day liquid preop diet. My Lap band surgery was completed 2 days ago. I was truly blown away of what an amazing and truly professional job the staff and my Docters at NYU Langone Hospital in New York City did for me and my surgery. From me being admitted, surgery, recovery and discharge, the staff at NYU will go above and beyond for you and your family. I was released the same day and I have to say the only discomfort I had was some bloating and pinching near my incisions which is normal. The preparation on an Optifast packet/powder diet of 900 then 600 calories per day was gruelling (especially as I cut booze and coffee at the same time) was very successful. I lost around 30 lbs in six weeks. The operation went very well, two nights in hospital and home I went. The liquid phase went fine with some more weight loss. Over the next four years, I had minimal success. I visited the surgeon for adjustments and food advice. My weight hovered around 300 lbs. The band restricted my meals sizes but I was hungry between meals. I was still c. 50 lbs lighter t…
