I am 3 weeks post op and am having the hardest time drinking water, not because I don't like it I'm actually craving it and have already been dehydrated. I can drink other things but I really want water. I have tried room temperature, warm, cold etc. Does anyone else have this issue? If so how long did it last. I read in some other forums that this is an issue quite often, some even say its due to the Ph etc

Hello, Just trying to get my protein in every day? I really need some suggestions because shakes and and Chicken are getting the best of me..I work 2 jobs and I do find that the Premier Protein shakes are handy, but expensive. I do not regret ever getting my surgery, I know it has changed my life..so if anyone reads this and can offer some recipes (web sites) or snacks that are working for them ,I would be so grateful. I am in stalled out mode. Respectfully, zbradburn

Hi, really wondering what people take or what they do daily to prevent constipation. 3 days ago i was severely constipated after not going for 8 days and i was in EXTREME pain and discomfort for 2 days. I think it was the most horrible experience of my life. It got to the point that i couldnt pee from all the pressure and couldnt sit. Went to hospital and they told me to go home and take magnesium citrate (which is carbonated so cant drink) and to do a fleet enema. I took miralax for a couple days before i finally had to do the enema (sorry tmi) and i finally had relief. I really never want to go through that ever again and im scared its already happening because its been…

I had my 2 week post op appointment today and the doc said I was doing great. I tried to explain to him and the nurse that ever since surgery, even after I was off all my pain meds, I have had their weird "out of it" or "out of body" feeling that won't go away. I don't feel faint or dizzy, it is like I'm not quite there. Sort of how it feels to be on pot, or after you faint or especially how I would feel for a whole day after a migraine (which I never knew if the feeling was the aftermath of the migraine, or the effects of the migraine meds.) Has anyone experienced this? Am I making any sense? Anyone know what it could be?

Just wondering if there's anyone from the UK? I'm interested in what protein shakes and vitamins you're all using? The BariatricPal store seems to only really cater for the USA - the shipping costs a fortune! So, what are you guys using?

I just got done working out for an hour and a half. Burnt 933 calories. I did a little stomach workout as well. I only had a cheese stick and yogurt for breakfast. I drank two 16.9 oz waters. I had a cheese stick for a late lunch (not hungry) and now I feel kinda sickish.

Hi all! I’m 2 week’s post-op roux-en-y and have started my puréed diet. The sample plan said to have one scrambled egg for breakfast, so I did, and chewed very carefully. It’s now four hours later and I still feel extremely full, like I couldn’t possibly eat anything else (like the protein shake I was supposed to have two hours ago.) Has anyone else had this experience? I started drinking water about two hours after the egg and it almost made it more uncomfortable. Helpful advice appreciated!

It’s super uncomfortable! I’m going to contact the doc in the am but has anyone else experienced it? I did some research and possibly a stricture, but who knows

It smells great in here, and even though I am having water, I am enjoying the smells, people, and experience. This healing portion of surgery is really showing me how to change my relationship with food!! Still on liquids! I will be glad when it's over, but glad my perspective is changing! I'm 3.5 weeks post-op and had my first "social eating" experience last night, which was dinner at someone's house with 3 other couples. Thankfully it's our closest friends and I told them about the surgery, but it was weird to put a teeny tiny amount of food on my plate (bless her, the host made pulled chicken and roasted vegetables so I was able to eat everything everyone else was, minus dessert). At the table, there were definitely jokey "whoa, that's a lotta food you got there" comments, which didn't really bother me, but did make me realize that eating like this around people who DON'T know about the surgery is going to be a challenge, and I will actually have to do i…

I am now scheduled for a sleeve in 6 weeks. My last 7 months dieting has been successful, my habits have changed, and I even cook for myself now. But now, I just want to "relax" until the pre-op diet and just enjoy a few last pleasures. I live with other people, and if they get a pizza, I get a slice. I'll dip into their fried chicken and I even had a Whopper the other day. These transgressions started with my final/extra/options meeting with a dietician when we talked about restaurants, and they give the patients "excuse" cards to eat from the kids menu, because even a 6oz steak might be too much. No problem really, but now just want to not be so hard core on my die…

Hi everyone!! I had my surgery on 12/1 and so far my progress has been really good. (I think) I have lost a little over 50lbs. As many of you have experence, I have a lot of loose skin forming. Anyone have suggestions on how to minimize it? I really dont want to have surgery to have it removed, so any suggestions would be awesome.

It makes one since sleeve done. I AM THE SAME WEIGHT I WAS SINCE SURGERY DATE. the pre op diet had me lose 13 pounds, and now zero. Why? I know I haven't used the restroom and took stool softners as well as laxatives...but the amt of food eaten on this post diet( two protein shakes...broth..sugar free pops) had me lose before. Getting disappointed.

So, I had my 6 week check in today and all is well. Weight loss is on track...27 lbs down. I do need to increase my calories. I've been around a thousand and the doctor and dietician would like to see me at 1200-1500, particularly before I start going to the gym. While I was there, I asked how long I needed to wait before I could have a glass of wine. I expected to hear 6 months to a year based on what others have posted. I was surprised when the dietician said that I could have started a couple weeks ago! Of course they gave the usual caveats...empty calories and take it slow to see how I react. Just thought I'd share since I know that question comes up a lot

hello, I'm almost 6 weeks post op, I had my surgery on 01\08\2018 I'm having some concerns & questions if you could help me. I'm having trouble drinking 2 liters of water a day when I try my best I only drink 1.5 liters. and sometimes I put a normal to small sized portion of food on my plate and spend an hour, maybe 2, to finish it. is that okay or should I put smaller portion? the last concern I have is, we don't have any gym near my area so what could I do instead? plus I don't really have the time because I'm a medical student and have a part-time job. I'm terrified of having loose skin. Thank you.

Hi everyone! So I’m quite scared because I’m starting to become a little depressed... I am two months post VSG, lost 28kgs haven’t had one problem until now. I’ve been vomiting and having nausea for 2 weeks straight now. The doctor has performed a gastroscopy, barrium swallow, gallbladdar tests...everything. Everything’s fine! i feel as though my vomiting is related to reflux because when I burp I feel fine. I haven’t been able to keep fluids down, I haven’t really eaten anything in 2 weeks because of the nausea. My nausea comes and goes and I feel it coming when I feel a bit of reflux. I’ve been prescribed somac and I’ve been on that for about 5 we…

Hello fellow sleevers, Sleeved 2/16 and sipping constantly to try to get my fluids in. I’m on clear liquids only. I see a lot of posts mentioning protein the first week. I wasn’t sure if it was odd that my surgeon just wanted me in clear liquids. How much fluid were able to consume daily your first week post op?

Sleeved 1/23/18... Day 16 liquid diet stage. Having a hard time with being nauseous most the time. Low energy. Only getting in about 30 grams of protein. Maybe one soup or chicken broth a day. Just barely getting my water intake everyday is a chore in itself. I lost 20 lbs the 1st week and 3 lbs the second. No concerned about the weight loss as much as how to get that protein intake in and how to just feel better as far as energy and not nausea all the time. Any suggestions?

How many of you were on antidepressants/anxiety meds when you had the surgery? How did you do having surgery? I’m on Effexor XR and the side effects can be pretty bad when I don’t take my meds. They said I can take them the morning of surgery but I’m worried I won’t be able to keep them down the first few day. It’s one of my main concerns.

I'm 7 days post op and I had the sleeve done. I finally got tired of soup, water, and protein shakes so I made some thin cream of wheat, which is on my list of approved foods for full liquids. I ate 1/2 cup and a few minutes after I was finished I got very lightheaded and had to lay down. It lasted for about 15 minutes. I've heard of it happening with greasy or sweet foods, but it hadn't crossed my mind that cream of wheat might have that effect on me. Has anyone else had that happen or with any food that seemed as though it would be "safe"?

I was so tired of sweet. Shakes sweet, popsicles sweet, etc. so tried grits, and tolerated well. Hope I’m not screwing up anything, but what a relief. Since the surgery, broth became a top 5 aversion! Also using a straw without issue. Eleven pounds down.

So I've been traveling for the last week - on the same week as I was cleared to eat more normal food. My hotel rooms haven't had fridges (to store protein drinks) or microwaves, and there's been a lot of going out to restaurants with people from work or friends I know in the city. And every time I go to a restaurant, I can maybe eat 1/4th of the plate at most, even less often. Example I went for brunch where they always have huge plates - got an egg scramble - didn't touch potatoes or bread and had 1/4th of the egg scramble so it basically still looked like a full plate. And every time I've been asked "did you not like it?" and I've just said "oh it was great but jus…
