I’m currently 1 month post op and I’m sick of having to open or crush my pills how long will this continue or is this a forever thing? Side note: what about vitamin gummies? My doctor advised against it but I see some people here are using them and I’m jealous the chewable are large and gross. I know premier protein seems to be the most popular protein drink, but many people are lactose intolerant and more are so after surgery. Has anyone experimented with opening their shakes adding the lactose treatment drops, and letting them sit for a day/few days to go work before drinking? I know that lactose treatments are hit or miss (usually miss) and that premier protein has a ton of lactose in it. Thanks for any input!

Was recently put on a liberate diet due to me not being able to keep food down along with my medication. Also I have lost about 45 pounds since my surgery that was March 1st. They want me to eat mashed potatoes, crackers, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, low fat yogurt, sugar free jell-o, and creamy soups.... Food is definitely not appealing to me. But my weight is at a standstill.... Having a hard time coping with this. I know it's the beginning but I just don't want to fail.... They also prescribed a medicine that goes behind my ear to help with nasuea but it have me blurry vision so I stopped it but my vision is still blurry. They told me to stop all medicine to see how …

Hi, had my surgery 4/3/18. I am one wee post op today! I am feeling good other than some spasms of the stomach. I was wondering if anyone else suffered from that and how long they took to subside? Any remedies that helped with them? Also, how long after surgery were you instructed to begin purée foods?

I read a post where someone wrote there was a medical and scientific reason for this stall. Can someone link it? It would be nice if I had a reasonable explanation for the pool of blood that will form on my floor after I am done bashing my head into the wall today. So anyone out there who is suffering from I think acid indigestion? I am 3 weeks post op and it just started this week (well maybe got worse) - I am waking up with what I think is acid indigestion/gerd? I can't eat breakfast nor want to drink anything. It takes a good few hours to get better after I wake up. It's a horrible feeling. I am taking my meds still and Mylanta everyday. I take it in the morning as well but it doesn't help for few hours atleast. What is this? Anyone else have this issue? Any remedy/suggestions to make this go away?

I'm 3 months post-op (sleeve) and losing hair like crazy. I have very thick hair to begin with, so I wasn't that worried at first but handfuls are coming out when I wash my hair, or run my hands through it, and it's starting to freak me out. I eat at least 80 grams of protein per day, take my bariatric multivitamins (with folic acid), extra iron supplements, and I've been taking Biotin for about a month now, but it doesn't seem to be slowing. I know from everything I've read that it will stop eventually but I'm still nervous about how much hair I'll lose between now and then. Has anyone had this problem and, if so, how long did it last? Did you try any of the hair growth …

So I’m just curious for anyone who knows people who had surgery as well, do they compare you to them. I’m about 8 months out and a couple pounds from 100 down but my friends who are only a couple months compare themselves to me and it really makes me mad. I have goals just like them, I struggle just like them and I’m wishing I lost a certain weight too. I really try to be a guide to the process but it’s starting to upset me. What should I do? Immediately post-op my surgeons office said it should take 30 minutes to an hour to eat your meal. Did anyone else get the same instruction? In six months post op now and wondering if we’re still supposed to eat that slow? It’s a little frustrating! I hate eating now so I’d rather just get it done!

My general dr said I am dehydrated, starved, anemic (mildly) and had high ketones level. But when I saw my dietician who works for my surgeon, she said I'm doing fine and just make sure to drink enough Water and eat 5-6 small meals. Before this I was eating like 4 very small meals. She advised me to eat a few carbs and not to totally exclude them. I really liked my weight loss being every other day. Does anyone have any input on this or why two healthcare people wouldn't agree?

I am 16 months post op and now for the past two months have been putting on weight little by little. Over the past 4 months I've put on about 6 pounds and it's scary and don't want to get out of control. I know I'm just bored at work and people here in my office eat constantly and I've succumbed to the bad habits again. The honeymoon period was awesome and I wasn't hungry and never craved sugar. Now I'm ashamed to say that I crave it and can eat whatever now. I never had dumping syndrome and nothing really made me sick except milk/dairy. Now I can even drink dairy now. I just need to get off the sugar again and buckle down. Just wondering if anyone else out there…

Hey All, I’m 15 days post-op, just moved to soft foods today and super excited. I have lost 20 lbs so far, I’m energized and feel fabulous. My only problem so far is every time I eat something other then yogurt or pudding, I have a lot of noise. Noise coming from my stomach and/or throat? It’s so embarrassing and I swear people can hear it but I just may be paranoid. Anyone else experiencing these noises? Please tell me it’s normal? Thanks in advance!

Wondering what type of multivitamins people are taking after gastric sleeve. My surgeon said that I will need to take a b complex along with the multivitamin as well...so name brands for both would be appreciated. FYI I’ve tried the Bariatric advantage vitamins and they just don’t sit well with my stomach!

Hey everyone. I am 3 days post op. I have been meeting my water goals and slowing incorporating pudding jello and applesauce into my diet along with premier protein. Even with waters, I get that terrible feeling that it is coming back up or it’s stuck...it passes in 3-5 seconds. I’m curious on how long this phase lasts. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

I have had my IUD for 3 years now, causing my period to stop completely. I am one week post op. I have lost about 11lbs, and today I got a full blown period. Complete with cramps on top of my healing pains. I feel like it could be from hormonal changes, or extreme weight loss. Anyone else with an IUD have this issue?

I've been struggling with liquids because it hurts and I can't catch my breath even when sipping. So just while ago my girlfriend sees me crying and I said I can't do this anymore. And she said won't you try using a spoon like you did with your Isopure drink. So I tried it and it definitely helps. Because me holding a cup up to my mouth doesn't work well with me. So spoon it is....

Hi everyone! Post surgery, I will be on a liquid diet for approximately 10 days. I don't want to have just protein shakes, so wanted to inquire about how you guys made high protein broths. I've tested a great homemade bone broth (using chunks of been bones as my dad is a meat cutter), but don't want to eat that all the time everyday. I found another recipe that calls for TrueNutrition Beff Isolate Protein, and Egg White Protein. Has anyone used that brand before? What about those specific types of protein powder? I've only used Whey products to date. Additionally, anyone have any recipes to share? I've tried the boxed versions they sell and they were not for me.

So I had by pass on March 26th. Surgeon told me he removed and repaired a Hernia the size of a football at the same time. Next day I had a reaction to pain meds that had me in seasides, Wednesday I sprung a leak in one of my entry points and lost a lot of blood. They released on Friday. Rough weekend due lots of gas still in my system. Yet through all of this, you can’t stop fighting. Their is no turning back. It’s Monday morning, I slept five painless hours for the first time ! Things are looking up and I can’t wait to tackle my day.

So, I gained a total of 45 lbs back from my post op total, which was a total loss of about 115 lbs. I feel awful. My stomach feels huge. I’m grabbing it with both hands and it literally just disgusts me. Soon after my surgery I had an Appendectomy followed by having my gall bladder out about 3 months after the appendix. This resulted in the consumption of a lot of pain medicine as I’ve struggled with opioid addiction for about 10 years, it really got worse after my three abdominal surgeries in one year about a six month time frame. Well, I eventually checked myself in for recovery and have been on suboxone for about a year. The problem is that I eat too many sweets. …

What am I doing wrong? Seeking advice, I’m 3 months post-op and have been in a 5lbs flux for over a month. Up and down, finally saw some movement last week when I forgot to take my protein shakes for a couple of days but as soon as I started them up again I gained. Has this happened to anyone?

Had my first challenge today: Easter dinner, where only my husband and SIL know about the surgery. I surreptitiously moved food around my plate, and unloaded a big chunk to my husband's plate. And I ate a few small bites of ham and macaroni and cheese, a few blueberries and a raspberry. Since weighing my food wasn't an option, I ate conservatively, and planned/met my protein requirements before dinner. Success!! And damn, people eat a lot of food, don't they? I never noticed before!! Anybody else have a similar experience?

Greetings, First time post, occasional lurker I had surgery 3/5, and I feel like I'm so far off base in terms of my choices, and/or behavior, and/or expectations that I could really use some information, affirmations, or consolations. So quick rundown: After I followed the post-op diet for nine days exactly as given. For me that was low/no fat Greek yogurt, tomato soup made with milk, protein shakes, and water. After losing my IV weight I continued on for the next week and a half to lose a little more than 10 pounds. After that I've flatlined, and it's going on three weeks. I'm starting to panic. To be fair I currently have a really stuffy headcol…
