Help one year since surgery. Up until a few weeks ago maintaining all the weight I lost at goal 75 pounds down. Now the hunger has come back to a degree and I put on four pounds in the last week. Am so upset. I know I am eating to many snacks. Also has anyone been diabetic free for more than five years. I have been off of medication for it since the day after surgery. But heard for some reason it usually returns after five years. Also anyone have any recommendations for skin wrinkles? Bad on face especially neck. Sorry for so many questions but just found this site. Thank you and suggestions for any of the above would be appreciated.

Hello everyone. I am 20 weeks post sleeve surgery. About two weeks ago, my appetite has returned with a vengeance. I am hungry all the time. I have overeaten several times to where I am sick physically and mentally. I am so worried. Has anybody else experienced this and what did you do?

I progress to a "regular" diet on Thursday, and I'm eager to be able to start eating crunchy things again (and fibrous, though I know I'll probably have try those gradually - I miss broccoli)! The thing is, I don't know WHAT crunchy things I want to eat. Obviously chips are a no-go (though I do have a bag of Quest protein chips to try). Baby carrots will probably be on the list, but I don't know what else! (I see my surgeon on Thursday afternoon, so I will find out then if I have any specific restrictions or things I need to wait to try -- I'm expecting salad to be one, though I reallllllly have been wanting a good spinach salad lately.)

I had VSG in June 2017. I've had to get IV fluids 3 times since surgery. I'm starting to feel dehydrated once again, but I hate to call my NP again requesting IV fluids. Before surgery my mom warned my surgeon that I get dehydrated easily (always have), but he shrugged it off and said I'd be fine. I've tried various water bottles, alarms, etc. but just can't seem to get enough water in me! Any advice?

I am 9 weeks post-op and down 40 pounds and feeling pretty good. The last two weeks I have been stuck. I dipped to 298 pounds one day but have maintained 301.6 for two weeks straight! I am wanting to beat 300 so bad!! I am getting my protein and getting 700-900 calories per day so I am not sure what the heck is going on. I have been going to the gym and doing cardio and light weights for about 4 weeks now. I was hoping it was just water retention, but for two weeks straight? What have you done to beat multiple week stalls?

I apologize if this offends anyone. I am 4 days post-op and still haven't pooped. I am actually 6 days without a bm. When did you have your first BM after surgery and did you have to use anything to assist it passing?

Hello, The therapist told me he's never met a patient that regretted having the surgery--I may! I had a sleeve Feb 23. I've had a hard time transitioning to soft foods, so am doing a a combo of liquid and some soft food (scrambled eggs, etc.). I'm having fewer then 1,000 calories/day (around 800). I lost weight on the pre-surgical liquid diet and a little bit the 1st week when I ONLY had calorie free vitamin water the whole week because I couldn't tolerate even thin liquids. Since then, I've only lost ONE POUND. I'm more hungry than I was pre-surgery, I don't eat large amounts, I never fever feel full when eating, I start sweating and get lightheaded w…

So I am 10 weeks post-op and feel like I’m not losing like I should! I know everyone’s journey is different, but I feel like I’ve hit a wall and stopped losing. Month one was great! Month two...not bad. So far this month I keep losing and gaining the same 2 pounds! I do have PCOS, could the be contributing to the slower weight loss? I know if I don’t get all my protein in that could cause me to lose lean muscle, but can it cause the scale not to move? Am I eating all the wrong things? Am I eating too much? It seems as though once I was able to eat solids and started to go to the gym my weight loss has slowed. Has that happened to anyone? I know I shouldn’t …

My problems began about 12 years post op (received bypass in 1999) when I started to binge eat and my weight has been like a yo-yo varying between 10 to 20 lbs over my desired weight. While I always manage to get my weight down close to my desired weight I'm finding it more difficult to accomplish this. I tried all the traditional weight loss plans (WeightWatchers, Jennie Craig,, etc.) and nothing seemed to work. PLEASE HELP Sherry

I had a sleeve done on Feb. 26th. I came home 3 days later. Once I was home and off my pain meds, I started with diarrhea all day long. The diluted Gatorade that I drank all day just ran right through me. Because of this, I was not well when I went in for my one-week post-op appointment. I had a really low blood pressure and really high heart rate. My doctor said it was because I was dehydrated from all the diarrhea. He did not approve me to move onto protein shakes or my vitamins, and I was not approved to go back to work. He wanted me to stop my blood pressure meds and to just keep sticking with diluted Gatorade and broth. I wasn't to see him 2 days later (whic…

I know theres a million posts on this topic (and ive read through far too many without getting the answer im looking for) But if you achieve the majority/all of your weight loss relatively rapidly (4-6 months post operatively) will loose skin improve at all over the following year or so after that? Obviously I dont expect nor think anyone should expect miracles. But if your weight loss occurs extremely quickly how much of an improvement will you see in loose skin over the next year or so after that while maintaining the weight loss ? Or is there pretty much no improvement in skin for the most part, with the exception of significant muscle/weight regain ? And im …

So i had my gastric sleeve on 3/14, and even though it's barely been over a day, I'm really anxious at how little food and liquid I can take it. I've nearly vomited twice (heaved and coughed, but nothing came out), and my nausea when i drink anything is overwhelming. I've also not been able to take more then 3-4 small bites of any food I've been given. I read somewhere that lack of protein makes you more nauseated, so I had as much of a protein shake as I could handle and it seems like it helped a bit. Anyway, did everyone else go through something similar? I'm scared something is wrong.

Hi All! I was sleeved Feb 28th and it went very well. I'm down 20 pounds didn't have much pain or nausea . UNTIL, 2 days ago. I have severe heart burn anytime i lay down or try to eat something puree stage. Luckily water is not a problem so i can get all that and my protein shake in. But anytime I try and eat it hurts and last night i couldn't get any sleep. It's not in my throat it's more under my chest plate. I'm on Dexilant and it's super expensive and is not doing the job. Please help me with any advice. I have a call in to the doctor but this group has been so helpful in my journey.

I am in the research phase. I have found RESOUNDING positive reviews, and even someone I know that had tremendous complications does not regret the surgery and would do it again. I am excited but I also want to look at other view points - who isn’t happy with this? Is there a source out there for people unhappy with the results, people who have lots of regain? I don’t want to talk myself out of this but I certainly want to look at all angles. I’m also concerned about the high rates of depression after surgery, and the high divorce rates in the first 2 years. Those both concern me.

I’m about three weeks out and I’m lucky to be able to get five or 600 cal a day in. I am cleared for proteins and soft vegetables and fruits. I eat until I’m full but then a few hours later I’m hungry again. And I do have a snack in between meals if I need one. Is it normal to not get many calories and at this point? And do you think that could be why am so tired?

I'm bummed that after a Year out I can now eat anything. Although it's smaller portions, I am losing control of the healthy life style. Argg. I was down from 220 pre sleeve to 147 today. But I was 143 and now I'm gaining. I try to stay under 1200 calories. Should I go back to my books and do the post sleeve surgery diet?

hello first time post, so i need some help with vitamins. ive been taking a multivitamin gummy, i got approval from my doctor because i was seriously unable to take a chew able. i am now far out enough from surgery to take pills. im looking for a multivitamin pill that is good for gastric sleeve patients since i need to take it with food and eating a gummy or a chewable makes my food taste gross. also i have a question with vitamin b12. i get monthly shots of vitamin b12 but i was wondering if it would be necessary to take a daily vitamin b12 as well (probably should just wait to see if im deficient in it right?) anyway thank you!

Hi all, Just looking for some advice from someone who's gone down this path ahead of me. I'm two months and a few days post op and I am seriously struggling with eating or drinking anything. I have to force myself to eat or drink at all. If left to my own devices, I would prefer to not eat and to just sip water occasionally. Eating seems like too much of a hassle and a pain. (I know - This is stupid: I'm trying) There are a couple of other things at play: I had blood clots that blocked and partially blocked off multiple veins to my liver post-op and ended back in the hospital for a week, two weeks after surgery. I am now on blood thinners. The second thing is that I…

Hello, I'm one week out from my gastric sleeve. I feel great, have had zero complications. I just finished the mandatory in-home nurse check up appointment. I had asked her if it was okay that I drink more than 4oz at a time because I have no pain or problems doing so, and my meal plan only calls for 4oz of protein shake 5x a day right now. Today was the first day I could have anything other than clear fluids, so I did drink 8oz of protein shake this morning, over about 20-30 minutes without issues. She said I'd stretch my sleeve out if I didnt follow the 4oz rule. I didn't question her, just said Okay well I wont do that again.. But I …

I have a question that it might be best to ask my surgeon but I don't see him until a couple of weeks When they say to except a 60% weight loss is it from highest weight or surgery weight? I am wondering since my HW was 402 (march 2017), surgery weight 323 (jan 2018) So if 60% from HW it's approx 240lbs and Surgery weight: 210lbs right now I am at 300 (so 23lbs lost in 7 weeks)

I am going to keep this short (If I can!); I’m English and English people tend to keep things to ourselves with strangers, especially if it is a point of failure so I am nervous about posting this. I had a gastric sleeve on 23rd July 2015, so 2 years and 7 months ago and it has been easy peasy with regards to food. I used to think that I couldn’t really support other people as I never had issues with the operation, or the months that followed nor with the huge weight loss. I felt fantastic, healthy and was going to the gym 3 or 4 times a week, swimming a couple or more times a week and walking my lovely Labrador a couple of hours a day. I could walk up steep mountain…
