Hi everyone, it's day5 for me of my VSG surgery. I wanted to get everyone's take on how much weight you all lost in the first week. My highest weight was 281lbs and my day of surgery weight was 260lbs. I've been sticking to my liquid diet and have reached my Protein and Water goals each day but this morning when I stepped on the scale I was 258lbs. I thought I would have lost more than that since I'm only eating 200-400 calories a day. What was all of your experiences with the first week of weight loss? Sleeved: October 17th 2017 I’ve heard gallbladder problems are common after gastric surgery and a lot of people get their gallbladder out when they get surgery. I’m in the hospital right now and I just found out I have gallstones! Then to further testing mild pancreatitis I’m assuming that was caused from the gallstones because I do not drink alcohol. I have never had problems pre or post op (until now) wondering if anyone else has had experience like this?

Hi. I am 2 weeks post op and started on soft proteins I have 1 shake split up into 2 meals one for breakfast and one for lunch. Then tonight I had a 4oz piece of haddock and I was able to eat the entire 4oz. Shouldn’t I have gotten full before I finished all 4oz?

I had my surgery 6 days ago. I have had no problems excepting taking my medication for restless legs. I have had severe rls for many years. Every night I take 2 gabapentins and 2 ropinerols. The gabapentin tablets are too big to swallow so I have to ether cut them in tiny pieces or crush them. The taste is horrible and it upsets my stomach. If I don’t take the medication I wil be up all night. Any suggestions?

I have used an Auto-CPAP since 2008 since being diagnosed with mild to severe Sleep Apnea (back when I weighed north of 330 pounds). Since using a CPAP, my AHI has usually been below 1 and I have slept soundly most nights. In November of 2016, I underwent Gastric Bypass surgery after a peak weight of 360 pounds and Day of Surgery weight of 334 pounds. Over a year later, I am down to 224 pounds and wake up some nights with super dry mouth. Over the past 9 months, I have been adjusting my CPAP's minimum pressure setting by 0.5 every 4-6 weeks lower and noticed that my AHI is below 1 over 90% of the time, and I hit an AHI of 0.0 3-5 times a month, especially lately. My …

Hi everyone, my names Myckayla I’m 20 years old my height is 4’11 my highest weight was 220 and my surgery weight was 208.4. I spent a total of 2 nights and 3 days in the hospital due to not being able to drink enough fluids. And now that I’m home I don’t have the feeling of hunger or wanting to drink has anyone else dealt with this and if so how? Because I don’t want to go back for dehydration. I’m also in the full liquid stage.

Hello! I am almost 6 months post-op and am having regular pain in my upper back and sometimes stomach, just over-tightness like I worked out too hard, or stood around too much. I stopped working out as much but the pain has continued, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I have only told immediate family about the surgery but I travel worldwide up to 70% of the time workwise however, I keep reading that I should be wearing an SOS tag or similiar since there are certain emergency procedures which could be dangerous for bypass patients . So paramedics would need to know immediately and obviously family may not be there to tell them most products that I see state openly gastric bypass engraved in a way that others , if they flip over, might be able to read i would appreciate advice 1) have others been advised to wear sos tags after surgery? 2) what SOS tags have you found that preserve confidentiality? thanks fo…

I had RNY on 1/30. My surgeon said it was a beautiful procedure. I was up and walking two hours out of recovery and keeping water, broth and jello down that evening and the next morning. I went home the next day and everything remained beautiful. I had no nausea or issues with water, broth, or jello. I even had a BM the morning of day 4. On fay 4 I introduced protein shakes and sugar free pudding thinned with 1% milk. I did get to the point with the pudding that I felt like I had just eaten Christmas dinner again. I started feeling weird that day with EVERYTHING. Even just water is giving me the chills, causes my tummy to start talking to me, my side hurting (un…

My surgery was yesterday morning. I did lose weight prior to going into surgery so that was a plus. Surgery went well according to the Dr. Got out of the hospital around 2 pm today. I feel like I hurt more now that I am home then when I was there. Gas is going down very very slowly. I have listened to all of the things they told me to do. One of which I am struggling with today. I have had less than 20 oz of water, a small sugar free jello, about 4 oz of the chicken broth they gave me in the hospital and about 8 oz so far of a protein drink. I am drinking little sips and have been awake most of today. I am trying really hard to get their total of 64 oz of fluid…

I had Gastric Bypass a little over a year ago (November 2016) and wound up with a perforated intestine last February post-op. I was put on Prilosec to allow my repair surgery to heal, and I was told after an EGD that I could start weaning myself off Prilosec. I am down roughly 110 pounds from my day of surgery, but I feel like I would have lost more weight had I not been put on Prilosec because I noticed my intestinal motility slowed way down in March...roughly 3 weeks after I started taking Prilosec. I started weaning myself off Prilosec (20mg/day) back in October by reducing my dosage by 5mg every 3 weeks. During that time, I had some small bouts of rebound acidity, bu…

I am having a bit of burning in my middle chest. I am 6.5 months post op from gastric bypass. I don’t know if it’s heart burn or maybe the beginnings of an ulcer, maybe a leak? . I was drinking caffeine because I work a ridiculous amount. Maybe eating too much? Well it always feels like too much? It’s like a mild-medium burning not super bad and only for a few days. Has anyone experienced this? Any recommendations for natural cures or remedies. Thank you I really appreciate it. I am also a little bit of hypochondriac and I’ve had a lot of anxiety the last month so maybe that didn’t help. Thanks again

Just wanted to see if anyone is experiencing the same thing? I’m two weeks post op from bypass. I haven’t had any problems or nausea until recently. I’ve been able to tolerate everything that I’ve tried, but for some reason the past two days anytime I drink water it makes me nauseous. It doesn’t last long but it doesn’t feel good. I love water and I know it’s important but why would it make me feel this way? Anyone have similar experiences?

I really feel I have not done a good job managing my emotions and eating. I need help! I called my surgeon and he tells me to stick to the plan. I have an old scar at my belly button. This was NOT a site from my sleeve. In the past few days it started hurting, kind of a pinching feeling when bending. I'm just about 4 weeks post-op. Could something lacking in my diet have caused this scar to start hurting? It has never bothered me before. I have a doctor's appointment coming up on Tuesday and I'll be asking about it, but wanted to hear from you all.

My bestie has asked me to ask this because she's not in the group. She just wants to have an idea of what her goals should be. She's 6ft and a size 26/28 currently and she's interested in the sleeve. For those of you who started around that same size, what dress size did you get down to?

I'm having my Gallbladder removed 2/16 (14 months post op VSG), no stones but Hida scan came back abnormal. I plan to take 5 days off work as my doc said 5-7 should be fine with my job (desk job, no pushing/pulling/lifting) but my hubby just reminded me that my son has a reward dinner the next evening 2/17 that we completely forgot about. I really don't' want to miss it but I don't' want to reschedule surgery since I've been putting it off since June. Those who had a lap choli, do you think I will be okay to attend the dinner. It will be a couple hours max and I will just have to walk in and sit, nothing strenuous. I know everyone is different but I'm just looking for som…

I had a lap band in 2007. It developed scar tissue around it to the point where it was closing up so I had it removed in 2014. A year later I had gastric bypass. The surgery was a success but I have terrible pain where they removed my port. Mostly it is after I do strenuous exercise like a hundred sit-ups or go heavy on my bench press. I know someday I will have a tummy tuck and I hope they can remove the scar tissue that clearly has formed around where the port used to be but in the meantime I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone else had this experience? I also had Port pain when the port was in from the lap band.

So my surgery was on 1.8.18, and since I have had zero appetite. I will eat somethings ( still on phase 2 full liquids and soft foods) but most of my options are sweet ( yogurt, oatmeal, pudding, jello, premier protein) with the 2 exceptions of grits and mashed potatoes. I just rather not eat and drink water then to suffer through more sweet crap. Also has anyone else noticed a stall in weightloss after 3 weeks or even a lb or 2 weight gain? My husband says I'm stressing over nothing but idk. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app

I feel great. I haven't been nauseous or thrown up. I'm on mushies and can eat pretty much anything ... I actually don't purée everything , sometimes I just chew it well. I did this surgery so that I can eat like a normal person . Instead of eating 5 cups of pasta , I'll settle for a few oz... I don't plain on changing much of my eating habits , with the exception of McDonald's Big Mac.. I know that's gone forever... good luck to everyone

My incisions are healing nicely , the glue is coming off but when I sit up I'm in so much pain. I'm good if I'm laying down but sitting up for more than 10mins and I feel a pulling and burning pain. Any one else experienced this ? I'm scheduled to go back to work next on 2/7. I have a desk job but sitting is going to hurt if this pain doesn't go away.

I was cleared to exercise at 6 weeks and started a Bariatric wellness program at a gym. I spoke with the office and don’t have any restrictions but when I asked about skiing she said to be careful. Six weeks is just a number and I need to listen to my body. She didn’t say no but a little vague. I didn’t ski that weekend but now I’m a little nervous doing crunches at the gym or too hard a workout. I feel good and doesn’t even feel like I had surgery. Curious how other people started working out and did you have any restrictions. I’m 7 weeks now. Thanks!

I had a sleeve surgery done on 10/28/17. I had a bleed after the surgery and lost a good amount of blood before they realised and fixed it. Other than that no complications. Before the surgery I have had my TSH, T3, and T4 tested multiple times. My TSH was generally on the high end of normal (4-4.5), though once it was a 5.6. T3 and T4 have always been within normal ranges. Since the surgery I have been feeling a bit manic and very anxious. I am on antidepressents but have been on the same ones for 3 years. A few weeks ago (about 90 days after surgery) I had bloodwork done and my TSH has gone up to 7.4. My T3 and T4 are still within normal range, bu…

TMI-- my period has gone missing! I am definitely not pregnant. But it's normally very much on schedule and it's about a week late now. I had it before my surgery (surgery date 1/3). I was on a liquid diet at that time, I feel like if I had it then, I should have it now. I've been following the doctors instructions, getting in 70-80 grams of protein and 54-64 oz of water a day. I'm eating around 700-800 calories a day. I don't feel like I'm starving myself. Anyone else experience no period after surgery?

In the killing two birds with one stone department I want to add protein powder to my water. This way I can get my fluids in and also get some protein. I went to the vitamin Shoppe and purchased what the clerk said was a plain protein powder. It might not taste like chocolate, vanilla or strawberry but it tasted awful. Needless to say I took it back. What are you guys using and where do you get it. Mahalo.

Hi everyone. I am 27 years old, was sleeved on December 27, 2017. My first week I went through all kinds of emotions, regretful and in pain. I was 275 pounds day of surgery and am now 241. Needless to say I had a stall for about a week and a few days now UGH! I’m not sure if it’s normal but I often still get frustrated sometimes, I’m always thirsty and have to be really conscience about what to drink since not everything sits well. I can’t tolerate milk (non fat nor soy, or almond milk) which bums me out since I used to love milk. I would drink two glasses full every night! Now I can’t even have a sip without my stomach feeling gassy. I threw up for the first time yesterd…

Super nervous going into the surgery! Please share your positive outcomes for me so I may visualize that the end is worth it! The preop prep was surprisingly easy for the prescribed 2 weeks - despite me feeling like I was detoxing and a bit irritable. ? I just want to live life with my family ? percent to the fullest! Thank you for the prayers and encouragement!
