I'm in my fourth week out from surgery and every time I eat I get really bloated and gross feeling. Does this mean I am eating too much? In example, I just had a soft scrambled egg for dinner and ate about 2/3rds of it and I feel so bloated. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance.

I just had my one week post op appointment and I’m so happy and thankful for this journey. It’s freaking hard and anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know what they’re talking about, but it’s so so so worth it. I weighed in today at 299. When I was younger, I never thought I’d be so happy for a number that large, but I’ve been solidly in the 300’s for six or seven years now. 299 brings literal tears of gratitude to my eyes. When I weighed in at 355 in the not so distant past and had a moment where I realized I was closer to 400 than 300, I knew I had to change if I wanted to live a healthy and happy life. I started making changes and made the decision to get weight loss sur…

I started out at 232 and between the liquid diet and then the gastric bypass, I went to 210. Now I’m 5 weeks post op and haven’t lost a pound since week 3. This can’t be it, right?!

I’m almost 3 weeks post op gastric bypass and struggle to keep anything down. The protein shakes make me sick, tried several different kinds and I just can’t tolerate it. I take my vitamins and usually throw them back up. Anytime I eat or drink anything it goes down and then feels like it’s coming back up, like it’s in the back of my throat. 9 times out of 10 I vomit. If I don’t get sick I’m so nauseous I can’t move for fear I will get sick. I was a lower BMI when I went into surgery and have already lost 27 lbs in 20 days. I have an appt with my surgeon today. Hopefully answers. Anyone else feel like this 3 weeks out? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was just curious if anyone has had any negative side effects from their surgery. I hear a lot of good things and would like to hear first hand experiences and have an idea of the kind of negative consequences, other than the most common ones listed online, I could be putting myself at risk for. I do have a consult appoint set for the 14th.

Hi! I need to take 1500 mg of calcium citrate containing vitamin D with 400 I.U. Any recommendations? The only one I can find needs to be taken 4 times daily which I would prefer not to do. I found one taken 3 times daily, but now can’t find it. Thank you!

I had the gastric sleeve on 01/24/2018, and I was wondering if any of you all hit a stage after surgery where you didn't lose weight for a couple of days. I have weighed the same amount for 1 week now and I have been exercising and doing what I was supposed to, has anyone else had this happen to them?

I had my surgery 2/7. I am in sales and constantly on the go. This week has been hell. I cannot get all my fluids down. Protein is a no go. I have limited time to eat and it takes so long. If I push myself I get really sick. Just off a protein shake. I’m terrified I’m going to stretch it so quickly simply because I’m always in a hurry!

Hey everyone. Im 5 months out from RnY and ever since the surgery my cough has been very weak. Is this normal. Its kinda like I have less air to push through a cough. Im assuming its because of the smaller pouch. Not a huge deal. Just that if im trying to clear a tickle in my throat or any of the many other reasons that you need to cough. It takes a few more than it used to. Sorry if this has been asked before.

Lol! This is sort of a joke because I had surgery on Monday, and a visit with my PCA. When I stepped on the scale...WHOA! 3 whole pounds! ROFL!! I told the doctor, "I'm doing the Flu diet...everyone would lose weight just eating broth, protein shakes and water!!" My biggest achievement: blood pressure meds cut in HALF! Yay!!! I had very fine hair before surgery, and since my surgery I've had significant hair loss (I'm 5 months post-op). I have a national TV interview in October that I really need to look my best for, and I was wondering if anyone had experience with using hair extensions with their post surgery hair loss... What kind (clip in, tape, glue, sewn in) did you try? Did you like it? Did they cause extra damage/fallout? Thanks! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N930A using the BariatricPal App

Hi everyone! Ever since my surgery on the 14th I've been vomitting. It's been painful dry heaves that have nothing but bile and blood coming out. I talked tot he surgeon about this but he didn't seem bothered by it, I'm on an IV so I don't become dehydrated. Right now I don't see me ever getting past this or ever being able to go home. Has anyone else dealt with this before?

I had surgery to remove my gall bladder and revise my sleeve to a bypass on 23rd January my surgeons profile is soft food from day 3, with which I have coped well I started experiencing about a week ago a severe and constant pain on my left side about 6 inches below the major incision .on the left side . The acute area of pain is about 4 inches long but when bad , the pain radiates to my back. Assuming it was constipation, i got some serious laxatives from the doctor . Things starting moving and the pain was less but still niggling. 24 hours later it is as bad as it ever was. I don’t have fever has anyone else experienced this please or have an…

I wasn't expecting so much exhaustion and pain. Honestly, everything they told me about fluid intakes have gone right out of my mind, thank goodness they gave me paperwork, but Im so fuzzy, I am scared I will mess something up. The 1st night every time I woke up I said to myself, "What did you do to yourself?" Lol! Hopefully pain is better tomorrow. I was up every 3 hours peeing or getting ice chips because the air was so dry. Miserable night... Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

So, was sleeved 3 weeks ago today, spent time recovering and now continuing my journey through central/South America. Finding it hard to locate good food sources, as Greek yogurt not common, and a lot of meals are based around maize and beans etc. In terms of eating I’m managing 1 scrambled egg for breakfast (takes a good 30mins to get it down) and drinking lots of water, but worried I’m not getting enough protein. Have tried pharmacies for protein and protein bars but all seem to carry a lot higher sugar and carb content than I’ve been used to and am allowed. Anyone else been travelling straight after surgery? Any ideas? Also still have wicked pain and bruising from…

So I'm at 5 weeks and allowed to slowly introduce normal foods - test out each one at a time. But to slowly increase on the texture scale - i.e. no uncooked crunchy vegetables or fruit yet. Here are my items: Broccoli - I love broccoli and it's so great for you - but until I feel great about my pouch/staple line not having sections for little pieces of the floret to get stuck, no go. Green Apples - I know in general you want to avoid sugars and carbs, but I'm looking forward to having a green apple or 2 every week. Seems like perfect size for a meal too. Medium-Rare Small Filet or NY Strip Steak - This is a big one. Steaks were so perfect for keeping w…

Hello all, I had gastric bypass in November. I had this done not for weight loss but to prevent my Barrett’s esophagus from turning into cancer. Before surgery I had really severe GERD. After 3 months I’m still pale and weak. I take all the vitamins I was prescribed while also eating my protein and taking in the water I’m supposed to. I was curious if anyone else has had this issue afterwards?

Hey everyone, I was sleeved 1/30 and every time i look in the mirror, i still see the same fat girl. I look at myself and kinda see my face gotten slimmer but as far as my body it’s still the same fat.... i know they say it takes time to loose it and you shouldn’t compare yourself to other people but i honestly don’t feel or see that I’ve lost anything. I haven’t bought a scale because i don’t wanna be a scale junkie getting on everyday [emoji19].... i have my 1st post op appointment tomorrow and i feel like I’m going to be disappointed. Has anyone felt this way??

Hi guys, I am 15 days post op from the sleeve and I have some worries and questions. I seem to be able to eat much more than I should, I can eat probably 3/4 cup mushy food. I'm eating pureed soups, mashed potatoes, ricotta bake, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese and of course my protein shakes. I have never had dumping issues, even when I have eaten 3/4 cup of pureed soup or a full half cup of mashed potatoes. I am eating an average of 600 calories a day. I have lost 3 lbs since the surgery. I feel like this is really low, my starting weight is really high, 379,and I feel like I should be losing more weight. I fear I'll be the person who doesn't lose any weight…

I was a big coffee drinker, like 5 to 6 cups( 7-11 medium to large) per day, up until last Saturday. My doctor said I can drink coffee but obviously recommended decaf but did not off limits caffeine. So this morning I tried some regular coffee and I must say it did taste way different to me..It also effected me pretty fast. Anyone else have any experiences with feeling like you did Chrystal meth after drinking coffee??

People have told me they have chewed and spit out the food if they really want to taste something they know they can’t eat like steak. My friend said she ate steak once and couldn’t eat for 3 1/2 days because she didn’t chew it down right so it took long for her stomach to process it. Shocking!!! Is this normal? Like a DL thing people do? Be honest please

Hi all, I am 4 weeks post-op today. My surgeon/dietitian recommend eating 60-80g of protein per day. It also says not to exceed this amount. At my 6 week check up I will be able to start trying more solid foods but still the recommended protein is 60-80g, and this is the life long recommended from my program. Yesterday while talking with my fitness coach (I am a triathlete) he wondered why it was so low. We agreed I would follow my program recommendations but would ask at my 6 week appointment why this is so low. I am curious to know what other surgeons/programs have recommended.
