My sleeve was on April 16th so I have just gotten to solid foods! I keep weirdly fluctuating in weight from 199-205, and i just keep going up and down. Is that normal? Is my scale being weird? Also, ladies, could it be my period? I just need to know so maybe I can change something.

Hey everyone, I was sleeved on May 16, 2018 and am now home. When I first woke up from surgery I was hit with severe 10/10 nausea some of the worst I've ever experienced. My first thought was WTF did I do to myself! That's how bad it was. It is now more controlled, but I'm wary of it coming back. My surgery was at 7:30 in the morning and I was released about 3 pm the following afternoon. My blood pressure was high the entire time I was in the hospital (my BP is usually normal), but they said that was likely due to CO2 and fluids. My largest incision hurts everytime I stand and begin moving. It feels like it's ripping in half and burning, but when I look at it it appe…

So, I'm transitioning in between phase of full liquids and pureed foods. I'm trying to figure out how to get all my protein in while staying below 50 carbs. According to my Baritastic app, I'm eating about 60 carbs per day. Now, I'm under the assumption that I'm supposed to be eating 50 or less per day. I've been trying to ask my NUT, but she's super busy and doesn't seem to reply. My breakfast is usually a 1/4 cup greek yogurt. Lunch is a shake or soup with protein powder. Dinner is either oatmeal, soup, or cottage cheese. I've been drinking shakes every day for 5 weeks. I'm so tired of them. I need to find a better source of protein that has minimal carbs and …

I was sleeved on Feb 15th, so 13 weeks ago. The first 42 lbs flew off me! But I seem to have stopped losing weight. I’ve been hovering between 244-239 lbs for the past two weeks. I’m scared my body has got used to tiny portions and has stopped reacting with weight loss. I keep weighing every day because I’m so obsessed with seeing the numbers go down, which doesn’t seem to be happening! I’ve still got a lot to lose! Did anyone stall around 3 months? How did it stop? Any diet tips? Is exercise super important? Any help appreciated!

By the time we set sail, I’ll be just over 7 months post op... I’m thinking WAY ahead of myself but of course the cruise excitement is getting to me. I’ve cruised tons of times but with a full stomach (and have gained way too much [emoji23]) Anyone been on a cruise post WLS? How was it for you? I’m nervous about struggling with my water intake and vitamin regimen... We are going with a pretty large group (15 People) and only 3 of them know of my surgery so of course I’m also worried about the looks I’ll get for not feasting on all of the cruise food lol. I feel like by 7 months I should have my routine down packed but we all know how vacations are. ??♀️ Any tips/sugges…

I am a little over a week from surgery and everything has been going great. Been managing between 45 and 65 oz of water, hitting my protein goals, and feeling great. Even had a one week check up yesterday and everything was perfect, until this morning when I took my vitamin and promptly got very over heated and threw up. Is this normal? I am interested in having my resting metabolic rate tested to get a better sense of where my calories should be, and I found a place near me that does the testing ($99; they also do DEXA scans for $129). My question is about timing. I'm only 18 days post-op -- would it make more sense to test when I am closer to my goal (whatever that is) because it may change significantly as I lose weight? Would appreciate anyone's opinion and information about this!

Hi, this is my first time on here, and hopefully I can find people I can relate to. I have vertical sleeve surgery on April 10th, 2018. I am only 37 days post- op, but I still struggle very much eating or drinking. Drinking water hurts my stomach. I try to drink a protein shake, and my stomach starts tossing and turning. I instantly feel sick. I never thought that drinking WATER would make me sick, yet here I am. I'm also having difficulties taking my vitamins, and my medications. I really try to not skip any vitamins/medications, but sometimes my stomach cannot handle it. I'm on medications for bipolar disorder, so I can't just stop taking my meds, but some d…

Ok, so I’ve been posting a lot here, so I’m guessing a lot of you are familiar with what’s been going on with me the past 5 days. Here’s my question. Did any of you have a problem with producing WAY TOO MUCH stomach acid after surgery? I’ve started taking 2 Prilosec and 2 nexium a day, but of course that all takes time to really kick in. I’ve been keeping water/ice/pedialyte in pretty well yesterday and today, but at night everything goes NUTS. Last night I was throwing up acid so hard and frequently that it was coming up through my nose (THE BURN!!!!) to the point I was dry heaving. Right after surgery I was having a problem with being hungry all the time and it was…

Also, I have been sweating ALOT, this is the 1st weekend it has been pretty warm here, but it goes beyond a little sweat on my forehead, i feel drenched, sweat running down my face, chest, back, etc. Anyone else been experiencing this?

Hey guys!!! I had my surgery on April 25th, exactly 3 weeks ago from today 05/16/2018. I'm currently in the puree stage of my diet which some things I just can't puree without gagging so I chew until it is liquid and always only eat soft foods. I have lost a total of 7 lbs within those 3 weeks. Week 1----210 Week 2----206 Week 3----203 I am exactly 5 feet tall and started at 235 which I lost 25lbs before surgery. I just feel like I am losing incredibly slow. 2.3 lbs just does not seem like enough to me. Is this normal? I feel helpless and depressed not knowing what I am doing wrong. Ugh! Here I am again! Why did I think this would be different?!? The minute your try to restrict my food I figure out how to take it to the edge as far as I can. Sleeve 4/26/18 Hw:215 Sw:215 Cw: 192 Gw: 145 Yesterday I ate a 1000 calories in the form of small things of cottage cheese and yogurt. Everything tasted so good. Last week i binged on 8 saltines. Hello all. I am about 19 days out from surgery and since last night I have had constant heartburn. The back of my throat is burning. I popped two tums but nada. I am also on Pepcid 20 mg twice a day just as a post-op regiment. I am planning on giving one more day before calling the surgeon. What I would like to know is others’ experiences: did anyone have GERD symptoms this early? If you did was this just a temporary adjustment from the surgery or is this a forever issue for you?

Ok. So the water and broth and popsicles stay down easy. BUT I still can’t keep a protein shake down. That’s what’s sticking and popping back up! Did anyone else have a problem with the shakes staying down for the first week or more after VSG? Is it just that they’re too rich or thick maybe? Not sure. But I’m certainly not going to the crappy ER when I can keep myself hydrated, just not protein full at this point. Any thoughts or stories of your experiences would be welcome! Hello. I just had surgery last week. Spent one night in hospital and returned to home. Physically it seems to be getter better. However, emotionally I’m a mess! Ever since I get very upset almost explosive at times and then cry. And once that starts it won’t stop. I have a dr appt in a couple days and I will talk to them about it but curious if this is just me or has it happened to others. The more upset I get the more mad I get, etc. I would swear I had surgery that affected my hormones! Thanks!

Hi guys. Has anyone had h-pylori after the sleeve? I'm 5 weeks post op and before it I had an endoscopy that uncovered h-pylori. They wanted to get rid of it before my op so I went on what they call triple therapy, 2 types of antibiotics and a PPI. After the op the histology showed that it hasn't been eradicated and now I'm on quadruple therapy which is the same again but with bismuth. In total it's 10 pills a day and they are giant. One of them tastes so bad it leaves a taste all day no matter how many times you brush your teeth. I am feeling awful from this. I think it would be difficult for anyone but trying to do this with the sleeve is awful. The pills ar…

I’m 4 weeks post op and everything is going great except I can’t live with this gas. It’s almost constant, I walk about 10K steps a day sometimes more, I don’t eat gassy foods. It settles mostly in my back and shoulders. When it’s bad I’m burping but it only releaves me for a moment. I just started a probiotic to see if that helps. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?

Hi All - After many years of battling my weight - I have decided to opt for a gastric sleeve surgery. It was suggested by a friend (who has also had a gastric sleeve) that I join this site to look over all the information available. You guys are so great and such an inspiration. I have my first consultation this coming Friday. I am so excited and scared at the same time. I won't have any issues with insurance coverage - that's not a concern. My major concern - that has me scared is the loose skin that will remain. I am 360 pounds - and pretty much all belly....so I believe I will have a huge hanging skin roll after my weight loss. Can any guys share their experience after…

So just had my procedure done on Friday and right now I'm halfway through my first shift at work. No problems! Before coming in I felt a little weird but then realized I was just overheated. Once I got in the AC that cleared right up. Was kinda worried I wouldn't make it but it looks like I'm good. Does seem like it's dragging but that's ok, don't need any excitement tonight. I had my surgery on Tuesday May 15th. Despite dealing with the extra pain that came along with correcting an unknown hiatal hernia, recovery has been ok except for the one nagging incision. It’s seriously burns (it’s not infected) or aches all day long unless I keep an ice pack on it. Does any one have any suggestions on how alleviate this? Also I don’t ever have the urge to pee anymore (sorry TMI) I just go because my brain thinks it’s been too long. Someone tell me I’m not going insane.

Like so many, especially us seniors, our social lives revolve around food and eating out. My wife has been supportive but she is also anxious about the changes to our lives that will be coming about because of my upcoming sleeve surgery. I think she envisions having to be in liquid or pureed diet modes forever or that her eating normally in front of me will be detrimental to me. Our common social theme is that we have date night once a week where we go to the movies followed by dinner out. We might eat out maybe 3 times a week. Nothing fancy but nice restaurants with an occasional splurge for a special occasion. When we get with friends it is usually over…

I know some of you have had issues with edema and I would appreciate some advice. I have been seeing a cardiologist because of some other issues, but one of the things that worries him is the swelling in my legs and my shortness of breath (which has been getting worse.) I have been on 2 different oral diuretics which didn't seem to have any effect. Now, the cardiologist is putting me on IV lasix and having me continue the oral diuretic too. He intends for me to get another IV treatment every day until the edema goes down. (This is basically a shot of lasix into the vein, not a big bag of IV fluid.) I drink plenty of fluids, so I guess my question is this: Can you get…

Kind o a silly question, but what quantity would you say is a sip. My doctor has me practicing my fluids by drinking 1 ounce every 15 minutes. An ounce feels a lot more than what I would assume a sip is. I just don't want to end up taking 1 one ounce and feeling like I'm in pain.

Hello again all! It’s been a few weeks since I posted. Things have gotten somewhat better, as I learn to live with my new stomach. Your encouragement was a great help! However, I’m now 6 weeks & 1 day out from sleeve surgery & can only fit about 25g (1oz?) (1 Tbs) of food at each meal. Though this does depend on what it is I’m eating (yogurt I can fit in about 60g). I’ve stopped trying to eat chicken & tuna at this point (as it was sitting really heavy in my stomach) & I am sticking to soft cheese, yogurt, egg etc. for 2 - 3 meals, along with my protein Coffee concoction & a protein shake/soup per day. I plan to try again in a week or two, thinking it …
