I know some of you have had issues with edema and I would appreciate some advice. I have been seeing a cardiologist because of some other issues, but one of the things that worries him is the swelling in my legs and my shortness of breath (which has been getting worse.) I have been on 2 different oral diuretics which didn't seem to have any effect. Now, the cardiologist is putting me on IV lasix and having me continue the oral diuretic too. He intends for me to get another IV treatment every day until the edema goes down. (This is basically a shot of lasix into the vein, not a big bag of IV fluid.) I drink plenty of fluids, so I guess my question is this:
Can you get dehydrated at the same time you're carrying 30-40 pounds of excess fluid?
