  2. Hi guys. I’m 3 weeks post op from getting VSG. I am on purée and soft foods right now. I’ve been dealing with nausea a lot the past week. Sometimes it happens after eating, so I’ve been eating only 3oz at a time whereas before sometimes I’d have 4oz. That seems to help some but then there are other times when I haven’t eaten anything recently and I feel nauseous after taking a sip of water. I haven’t vomited at all, but whenever I feel nauseous I have to lay down for a bit so that the feeling passes. If I wasn’t able to lay down then I’m not sure if I could keep myself from throwing up. I’ve started taking my anti nausea meds again that I have leftover from surger…

First week post op for me is liquid (not just clear liquid) so I’ve been living on: - Premier protein chocolate &vanilla shakes...i blend half a shake at a Time with some ice. I also added 1.5 T of PB2 to the chocolate to make a peanut butter chocolate shake...pretty good - outshine no sugar added popsicles. I ate 7 of these yesterday so decided i need to cut down lol. They are really delicious though - FF non fat Greek yogurt... light n fit has some pretty good non chunky flavors like vanilla, toasted coconut, and strawberry cheesecake - Quest cookies n cream protein powder w/ Fairlife skim milk (milk has 13g prot…

  4. Hello! I’m 13 days post op and am wondering what I could/should do about exercise. I live in the country in Texas, the nearest gym is 30 miles away and it’s HOT out side. Any ideas about what I can be doing to exercise? Protein! I’m definitely not getting enough protein. I can finish 1 30 gram shake and drink protein water. I eat Greek yogurt but am not hitting 60 grams of protein. I think the main reason is I’m so bored of the sweet drinks and I can’t wait until I can hit the puréed food stage. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Fear...I have an obsessive fear that my stomach is going to stretch. I dream it, I cry over it. The main reason is because I can no…

Hey all! I've grown an aversion to protein drinks (Premier was the only one I could stomach and now it makes me sick) and I'm still feeling a lot of restriction with solid foods so I can't get much in. I know I'm not getting all of my daily protein and I'm paying the price with hair loss, fatigue, low weight loss, etc. I have a bag of Genepro protein and I can't stand the taste of it mixed in drinks and food but I think I could handle quickly drinking a "shot" of protein powder mixed with water or some other liquid. I have 2oz cups I can mix it in, kind of like the cups with protein that they give you in the hospital after surgery. If anyone has tried this, what…

Had RNY Monday, discharged Wednesday. Been doing fine since I’ve been home, no fever, vomiting, nausea, or signs of infection at incisions. I am, however, having worsening pain on the left side of my stomach (near largest incision) when I stand up/walk. When i sit down or am sitting/laying, it’s more of a normal soreness, but the pain I just had walking from my living room to my bedroom was enough to make me cry. It feels like everything is getting stretched too far when I’m performing those movements. Is this normal post-op pain? I’m concerned because it’s worsened as the day goes on. I feel fine otherwise so don’t want to go to hospital unless absolutely necessary.

  13. Hi, I had an endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty last year in May, 2017. As no visible change occurred, my surgeon went back in after 6 weeks and did further surgery. He told me that my fundus had created holes and my pouch needed re-suturing. I would like to point out that this is an excellent surgeon in arguably Sydney's best private hospital. There was no backyard shonky involved. The simple fact is, for me the surgery didn't work. A barium swallow showed that there is still a pouch of sorts with a small restriction but the fundus is completely open. In short, didn't work on me! Are there any others like me out there? I've been told that I would have to have a ga…

So I weighed in a couple days ago at 285, then yesterday at 274. Weighed in today, 280. Is this normal to fluctuate like that? Does it go back down again? The scale we bought is digital but supposed to be, and seems to be, very accurate as long as you stand on the right spot. There is no way I gained 6 pounds overnight, I am still on a strict diet and eating very healthy PLUS working out. I stopped working out over the weekend though because I was in a ton of pain. But I took mini breaks before and never gained. I don't know how to feel right now.

So I’m 19 days post VSG, and I am soooo tired of vomiting! I’m supposed to be in the soft food stage, but pretty much everything that goes in comes right back. So far I’ve been able to keep down 2-3 tablespoons of mashed potatoes, applesauce and one time refried beans. It’s to the point where even when I’m hungry I don’t want to eat because I dread throwing it up AGAIN. I get my fluids in but protein is an issue. And I can’t take my Bariatric chewies because they come right back up too. Basically I’m living on 64oz of wasted, 200 calories and on a good day 13-14g of protein if I can get a shake to stay down. I’m constantly tired and could probably sleep all day if that…

I've never had food allergies in my life, but last night I had an allergic reaction and all I can think of is that it's something I ate. All of it was normal food that I've always eaten, but I woke up at 3am with itchy, raised, red rashes all over me. I knew about food sensitivities developing where your stomach doesn't "like" certain foods anymore, but this is a full emergency-Benadryl reaction. Anyone else experience this?

Has anyone taken their anti-depressants after surgery and fight to lose weight because of the meds or are things different after surgery? I take Effexor, which isn't known for weight gain but I was just curious if that's something anyone here had to worry about.

Anyone take a Lyft or Uber or cab to the hospital or home? I know this sounds silly, and I could ask a friend or family member to get me there, but why if it's not needed? They plan on coming and saying hello to me when I'm out of surgery in the hospital and post op at home. I'm just wondering if it's "weird" or a big deal if I just handle it on my own (as long as I'm not driving myself obviously).

Hey all - I've been lurking on the forums for a while here, but I just had surgery a week ago and I have a question. I had GERD prior to having gastric bypass, and I understand that for many people, GERD resolves with surgery. However, tonight I had a tiny bit of heartburn happening. I used to have intense reflux if I didn't take my omeprazole, and this was just a fraction of that, but it still irritating. So my question is - did anyone else have reflux this soon after bypass surgery? And if so, did it ever go away? Say, when your waist got smaller and stopped putting pressure on your stomach? Am I doomed to keep having reflux if it is popping back up this soon?

Well I can do this easily and could probably keep on eating yet I haven’t tried and won’t. I don’t know what it feels like to be full with the sleeve really. I don’t really feel restriction. There have been a few times where it feels like food or drink is moving down the sleeve slowly and I feel light discomfort for a few seconds. I hear people say they can only get 2 or 3 bites down but I haven’t had that feeling. I get every bit I’m allowed down without a problem. I can take average size drinks of water without…

  31. Hi. I am 7 days post op. I still don’t feel like I got the protein and liquid down yet. I am getting better bit by bit everyday but still struggling. It probably is because of lack of experience. I had an internal bleeding after sleeve surgery. I felt extreme dizziness after the surgery. My blood pressure went up and blood count kept going down, which was the sign of internal bleeding. Thankfully, my doctor was calm and he said I have to be hospitalized a few more days but not to be too alerted. Also I didn’t have to get blood transfusion in the end but I was very close. On sunday's, I allow myself a "cheat" day so I don't stall and it helps to drop me in lbs for some odd reason. On average, I am about 950-1150 calories a day and on a low-carb diet. Sometimes I feel like this is on target for where I should be, but then there are days where I feel sooo hungrrrryyy and but then my stomach is telling me I'm full.
