One week after surgery same weight?disappointed

Recommended Posts

  • It makes one since sleeve done. I AM THE SAME WEIGHT I WAS SINCE SURGERY DATE. the pre op diet had me lose 13 pounds, and now zero. Why? I know I haven't used the restroom and took stool softners as well as laxatives...but the amt of food eaten on this post diet( two Protein shakes...broth..sugar free pops) had me lose before. Getting disappointed.

Clearly your surgery did not work. All hope should be lost. Give up now. Abandon ship!

Relax! :D It's a common thing to happen. Hell I came home weighing 10 pounds MORE than I did the morning of my surgery because I was so pumped full of fluids and it took days for it to start coming off. This is a normal thing to happen. Stalls are going to happen. Weird ups & downs will happen. Stay the course, follow your plan, and you'll be fine.

Stay off of the scale for the first month. Your body was pumped full of Fluid and air, and it has just gone through a huge trauma.

Keep to your plan and the weight will come off in its own time. Everything about this journey is a marathon--not a sprint.

Good luck!

Yes, don’t expect pounds to fly off the first week or two. Give your body the time it needs to heal from your surgery, then you will see some weight loss. The same thing happened to me.

Don’t feel disheartened everybody bodies react differently! You will do just fine, try not to weigh yourself weekly. Best of Luck!

Think of it as your body pausing to regroup and realign , then it will relax and the weight loss probably will resume. In the meantime you might have NSV like your clothes and shoes becoming looser. It will all balance out but it's hard to stay patient. Don't stress yourself out.

Don’t stress!! When I came home I was up almost 15 pounds from the air and fluids! It took me almost a week to work it all out of my system and get to my surgery date weight again, but now I am 2 weeks out and am down 18 lbs!

I think it takes more than one week to start losing... Really. You probably lost weight but still swollen too.

LOL! Raises hand and jumps on OP's band wagon. Yep. Yep. Yes indeedy! It's true and listen to everyone's advice! They speak truth! I'm in the same exact situation. I have lost 3 of the lbs gained over the surgery date, but I'm still up about 2lbs from surgery day weight.

I'm like, "Dangit Lex Luther and My 600lb Life," you're a bunch of lieing ass liars that lie! LOL. Where's my 25lb loss in the first week?! *snic*

Yeah, it's gonna happen. Follow your rules to a T.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
