There ARE tasty protein drinks out there without a chalky feel. I've only found two so far, though, and they aren't ideal options. One is protein only and unsubstantial (Bariwise fruit drink mixes), and the other has twice as many carbs as protein (Naked Protein Zone Chocolate Banana). EAS Soy Protein powder, WonderSlim shake/pudding powder, and Naked Protein Zone Mango all felt like sand on my tongue. I tried making the powders various ways (water, milk, yogurt, etc.) but they still had a gritty feel. Which protein drinks or powders do you find smoothest?

So I bought some Isopure about 2 months ago in preparation of my surgery, and it has just been sitting there. Every time I opened the fridge it laughed at me, "Haha you wasted a lot of money on us!" So now that I am 8 days postop I decided to bite the bullet and try it. First out of the fridge was the pineapple Orange banana. From my readings on here, there is a very clear line when it comes to Isopure Zero...you love it, or you hate it. So here it goes. My mom laughed as I crinkled my face in anticipation of my first sip. I was expecting this horrible cough syrup tasting concoction, but wait, it wasn't that bad. I went in for a second sip and yeah, I can do this. I can s…

My only choices are Bariatric Advantage High Protein Meal Replacement (any of the 5 flavors), powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder (any of the 5 flavors), Premier High Protein shake (pre-made) (any of the 3 flavors), Body Fortress whey Protein Powder (any of the 5 flavors), or the SlimFast 321 Low Carb shakes. Also I have to mix the Bariatric Advantage and Body Fortress with Water and the Unjury with Fat-Free Milk. So what do you all think? What was your favorite protein shake and which flavor? I am so excited about this journey but this is what is going to scare the hell out…

Got a problem and who else to go to but all of you. I'm supposed to be taking two Caltrate petites a day. However, I can't because they give me the worst stomach cramps and constipation. (Sorry, I know TMI). My doctor wants me to take it still even though all my labs look good (all 17 tubes of blood those vampires took). What can I do about the cramps and constipation? PS. My dietician informed me not to take my Vitamins at the same time as my Calcium. She said that it interferes with the absorption of the vitamins.

I have heard that a lot of unflavored protiens are not really unflavored. Does anyone use unflavored isopure I met one lady who says she puts it in everything and can't taste it...therefore she is adding protien to almost anything she drinks and even into yogurts and other puree like foods. It is rather expensive and I didn't want to buy it unless I really think it is unflavored. I am thinking about adding it into crystal light and other clear liquids but not sure how well that was going to work???

I have found a couple of flavored Protein powders that I really enjoy. Cellucor Cinnamon Swirl, unjury chicken broth (mixed with regular chicken broth) and BSN chocolate Coconut Candy Bar, in case you were wondering. (And I am still sampling!) I am looking for an unflavored Protein powder. I know that they are truly not unflavored, and I get that. But I am looking for one that dissolves easily. For instance, if you stir it into yogurt or pudding, it seems like it would be gritty. Are there any that dissolve easily without a blender? Does anyone have any personal recommendations? Thank you in advance! This board has been a wealth of information, I don't know wha…

I found an unflavored protein powder that I add to Special K protein drink and blend with ice. I've been doing this for a week. The guy at GNC swore that it was for weight loss. I'm looking at the label today, and it says not a weight loss supplement. Have I been screwing with my pre-op? Anyone know about this?? Kinda freaking out, as I'd like to lose at least 7lbs between now and 4/8. I'm also walking everyday, so hopefully that helps...

Hi, I am new here and scared shitless. I did so well for so long, even when my eating became more or less normal. I didn't go back to binging, but I wasn't sticking to the plan. I have slowly been allowing my weight to creep up. I didn't worry I guess because I still felt good, my clothes felt good, I felt sexy, I am active.....but now my size 10 jeans are tight, I really see the weight in my pictures, and I FEEL like that fat girl is trying to reemerge. I am trying desperately to get back on a plan, shrink my pouch, Protein first, no sugar......but I am spiraling out of control. I can't be that girl again, I don't want to live at all if it has to be fat. I guess I…

I am so thankful to be losing the weight. I was sleeved on 12/28/12 and am down 47 lbs. I love it, 3 more lbs to my half way point, couldn't ask for better right?? But I still can't get this vitamin and water thing down. I am suppose to take special Bariatric vitamins three times a day. The taste isn't so bad anymore, I just have some sort of block to it. Maybe it's he horrible taste I had from the beginning, maybe forgetfulness, who knows, I just hate to take them. And the water?? I do great some days and terrible the next. Please tell me it gets better? I am starting to lose hair!

I am scheduled for surgery on 3/25, I have a one year old son who weighs 23lbs and is highly active. How much help should I line up? Will I be able to lift him from the ground, from the crib, etc? How soon will I have enough energy to care for him alone, with no help? Thank you for your help, in advance.

Should I be waiting to drink water (or another liquid) after my protein shakes? While on my liquid diet (right now, today) the shakes are acting as a meal replacement. I understand I won't be able to drink much those first few days so whatever I get in is good. I'm just asking as a general rule of thumb what you all do?

I started drinking healthwise beverages when I had my lap band. They have coffees, hot chocolate, and flavoring a to add to water (like crystal light) and other protein foods. They have 0-1 carb and low calorie. They don't pack the same punch in protein that some of your shakes do but it is a refreshing change for people stuck in a rut or who have strayed from their protein drinks. There are several flavors to chose from and last I checked it was about 7$/box. With summer heat coming on it is a nice change and you definitely get all your water in with them. Just wondering if others have heard of them? I seem to have been given a whole list of protein supplements that are …

Not scheduled for VSG until March 30 but starting pre op on the 16th. I have spent a fortune on food for pre op and post op. Today I have decided to try what I have bought. I can't stomach any of it!!!! I understand as a nurse the importance of getting the proper nutrition. I have 2 weeks pre op liquid diet, 1 week post op clear liquids, 2 weeks post op full liquids, that is 5 weeks of liquid. Omg....if I can't stomach the taste now how am I supposed to stomach the taste afterwards??? Does your taste buds change after surgery? Am I going to just be thankful that I have something to drink during this period. I just don't know what to do at this point.

I'm a little over 2 months out, and that is when my surgeon recommends beginning a vitamin regimen. I have a chewable Bariatric Advantage multi-vite that's supposedly formulated for sleeve patients. I have tried to take them on two separate occasions and I have only managed to hold onto them for about 5 mins before I'm overwhelmed with nausea and throw the whole thing up . They taste like orange sherbet to me, so the flavor is definitely not the issue. Has anyone experienced this? Is my stomach just not ready yet, or should I look for a different product? Any vitamins you would recommend? Thanks!

So there are some new Isopure flavors coming out this week. I was able to get my hands on one at my hospital. The flavor I was able to taste and take home was coconut. It tastes like a Piña colada. This is now in my top 2 flavors. They say there where other flavors but couldnt say what yet. Anyone that likes Isopure keep a eye out for them.
