  2. So I'm 9 days post op with almost another week to go of "liquids". I've had a horribly uncomfortable time trying to stomach milk and whey Protein shakes. I would have one shake, take 2.5 hours to get it down, then be totally bloated and uncomfortably full for the rest of the day. This also impeded me from getting my fluids in, as I was so uncomfortably full I could take nothing more in. Spoke to my NUT yesterday and am waiting for a call-back today. She suggested Carnation instant Breakfast, but it's milk based and I reacted as expected. She also suggested blenderizing Soups with some protein to get some protein in. That's fine except in order to get the 40g of …

I am 2 weeks pre op and looking for brands and kinds of Vitamins or other supplements to buy. My doc says that a chewable Vitamin with at LEAST 25-30 nutrients in it. I have Walmart, Walgreens and GNC at my disposal so something generic or cheaper that I can find at those places would be great!! Also, what other supplements would you all advise taking? I've seen Calcium and Biotin but am curious as to why? Biotin I know for the hair loss but why take calcium when you also take a Multivitamin? Thank you!!!! So far, Roadside Lemonade, and Cherry are AWESOME as add-ins for SF Jello jigglers. Caribbean Cooler is NOT a yummy popsicle (Though I'll probably eat the 3 1/2 I have left). Crystal Sky isn't so yummy as a normal shake. Hrm... I wonder if I add a little davinci's syrup to the caribbean cooler popsicles... Nahh, I don't think that will help.

  15. Through trial and error, I hope I've experiences the last of my last 30 minute bathroom runs (pun intended) Lactose Intolerance is no laughing matter. What was mildly inconvenient pre-op became a post-op nightmare for me. However, there is a glimmer of light at the end of my DFPW tunnel. I tried a number of Protein powders once I realized that whey Protein was not my friend. Although, I had no difficulty at all with the GNC Pro Performance Amplified Whey Protein powder pre op, it turned my life upside down post op to the point that my surgeon has me going for labs to rule out more serious issues. 19. I am 12 weeks out from surgery and have always had an intolerance for the protein shakes, pre-op and post-op. Needless to say, I am weak quite often, but make sure I eat protein first. Are there any other sleevers who have an intolerance to protein shakes and bars? If so, are you able to get the necessary amounts of protein in your diet? And fluids, as well. Still having a tough time getting all the fluids in each day.

I'm using the same Protein powder as before surgery and now my shakes are coming out too frothy and I can't drink them. They give me too much painful gas now. I'm 9 days after surgery. I used to mainly use soy milk but sometimes used fat free milk. Since my surgery I have only been using fat free milk. Could that be the problem? I've. Tried less crushed ice, more crushed ice, I don't know what else to try. I swear they were not frothy before I had surgery but maybe I never noticed? if it weren't for RTD I don't know what I would do. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have been on iron supplements for several days because my hemoglobin is only 10.1, and it needs to be higher prior to surgery. The supplements are making me miserable. I have irritable bowel syndrome and they are giving me a lot of gas, gas pains and pretty bad diarrhea. Does anyone have any recommendations for a different brand or formulation? I am just taking vegetarian tablets from CVS.

Hello all, I am 4.5 months post op and have been doing pretty good. I have lost a total of 85 lbs. recently a very trusted friend has shown me this protein shake product called Metaboliq by Qivana. It seems legitimate . My question is has anyone had success with this product? I am being told this will enhance my weight loss during the "honeymoon" period which is the first year after surgery. Please if you know anything firsthand about this product please respond. I do not want to invest in something that may or may not work. I trust the people on this website. Thanks again!

  29. There are so many protein drink choices how do I know which ones to buy. Everyone talks about Isopur and Unjury, but are there less expensive choices? What should I look for when I go to buy? Obviously the protein amount is one thing I should look at, but what else? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm still pre-op but decided to go ahead and try the protein. I bought the whey protein isolate powder in a chocolate decadent flavor. 60 grams for a serving. 1 gram of carbs, a half serving at a time would be 30 g. I mixed with skin milk and I was totally surprised. It didn't taste too bad at all. I hope I can still handle it after surgery.

I am looking at two of the same multivitamins, one is with iron and the other is without. I have heard that people get constipated after the surgery so I am thinking that maybe a vitamin without iron would be best. But then I also understand the importance of iron too. Plus about 5 years ago I was anemic when I was bleeding internally and lost 2 liters of blood. I'm fine now but maybe getting a vitamin with iron would be a good thing? I don't know. I don't want to be constipated. I'm not sure what I should be getting. Also, am I crazy to be getting pill form? I was told I could get pill form but I'm guessing after surgery it will be very difficult to take. I plan to…

  42. Once again, my iron levels are very low (also B12). I'd like to avoid my 3rd round of iron infusions as they are expensive and time consuming. I've done tons of research online about the absorption of iron. Each am I blend 1/2 c unsweetened plain (or vanilla) almond milk with 1/2 c plain Kefir, lg TBSP Greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, & chocolate sugar-free Carnation instant breakfast. This is getting old. I added a spoon of peanut butter once but it was too rich for me. Any new smoothie suggestions that does not include protein powder?
