Just made up some of this - all I need is a beach, some rum and one of those little umbrella to put in it and I'm set! Seriously - not too sweet, I used 8oz of Water for the packet and it tasted great. Can't wait to try the other flavors!

Posted this last night...no responses, but I'm giving it another go becase im really interested in this product... Has anybody used this to help slow down the absorption/breakdown of protein? I've started an exercise regimen that includes 6 days of cardio (in the AM for maximum fat burning potential) and 4 days of strength training (in the evening for maximum muscle building potential). I'm still pre-op (5-6 weeks to go), but I've already began drinking shakes for breakfast and lunch, a small sensible dinner with protein and greens, and snacks between each meal consisting of 2% string cheese, nuts, and fruits (fruits only in AM to allow time to expend carbs)--caloric in…

I got so sick of shakes after my liquid period. Literally having anything liquid I supplement form make me gag. Unfortunately I'm finding it difficult to get all my Protein in. I've been doing a lot of research and just ordered Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex. Rich Milk chocolate flavor. I've been making it with 12 ounces of 2% milk and a splash of Water with ice. Tried it in blender but it turned to foam and was nasty. Apparently their formula is specially made to mix easily so now I just use my shaker bottle. I also just had for an after dinner drink the powder using just water. While not as tasty as with the milk it was plenty tasty nonetheless. My son thought it was cho…

I have been using a Cupcake Batter flavored protein powder for my pre-op shakes, and enjoy it fairly well (for a liquid diet). It is made by a company called All the Whey. We have had this powder for several years (it was a 5 lb tub) but now I am running out. My research seems to show that All the Whey is no longer in business. I am looking for a replacement powder. It has 25g protein and 1g carb per serving. If you have any ideas of similar flavors out there, please let me know! Thanks!

Hi everyone, My husband and I are preparing for my liquid diet pre and post op and he wants to put an order into allstarhealth because he likes to get his casein and Protein powder from there. Has anyone ordered from there before? What flavors did you use/like? I don't want to get more than a 2lb one in case I really don't like it, but I think I'll need variety so I don't want to kill anyone haha. Any advice?

I wake up every morning at 3am for work and was wondering if I can take all my vitamins at once in the morning. Someone told me that it's best to split your vitamins and supplements up throughout the day but my work schedule doesn't allow me to stop and take my vitamins throughout the day. I would rather just take them all at one shot. I take a liquid multi, liquid iron, zinc chewable and b12 drops. Thanks in advance

While checking out the new coupon book from costco, I noticed 5 off vanilla or chocolate 18 pack. Limit 2. The coupon is good on May 9 - June 2nd. This is the first time I've seen them in their coupon book. But I'm usually looking at the fattening stuff! LoL

Hey, everybody! I just stumbled on this awesome-looking blog that is 100% about all things Protein powder related & recipes made with all kinds of protein powders. When I am post-op, I really want to use Protein shakes only as a backup when away from home, and not as an everyday thing. That means I needs lots of recipe ideas incorporating the powders, so I was thrilled to find this blog...and of course I wanted to share with all of you! :-) http://www.proteinpow.com/

I have become addicted to sf popsicles since surgery. I have 1/2 almost every night. But occasionally, I want cold AND creamy. Here's another cool treat for this upcoming summer.. "Fit Freeze guilt free ice cream" w/ 15 grams of protein, 150 cals, 8 fiber, and 5 sugars for 1/2 cup. It sells on Amazon. I get mine from my moms surgeon. I've only tried chocolate, but its good.

So I've been researching shakes, and I went ahead and clicked on an ad on this site for IdealShape Shakes. I really liked that they have 20 vitamins and minerals, 18 of which are at a 50, 60, 80, or 90% rate of the recommended daily value--not to mention the low calories, sugars and carbs. Considering the lack of ability to consume much of anything, I really value that. However, the grams of protein per serving is low (only 11 grams). My thinking is to add a flavorless protein to get the protein I need; reaping in the tradeoff of great DV's. What do y'all think? Has anyone tried this or perhaps have better suggestions? Need help...trying to prepare!

Hi, I am a week and a half out from surgery. So I have only been eating food for 4 days. Since I started eating I cannot get enough water in. If I don't drink before, during, and an hour after each meal and protein drink - That is 5times 2 hours so basically for 9-10 hours a day I can't drink. That only leaves like 6 waking hours to drink. I am really worried, I can feel I am dehydrated. Any recommendations?

I have tried several multiple-Vitamins and am struggling. I am only about 2 was out. I never have done good with swallowing pills especially big ones like multi-vitamins. I am Currently taking the Flinstones ones and so far that has been the best but it still has a little after taste which makes me want to not take it. Therefore, I'm hoping a gummy one exists that would work and not have aftertaste? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated... Please help! Sent from my iPhone using VST

I have tried so many different protien shakes the last three weeks. Monday I will be 4 weeks post op. I have been getting very sick when I drink a shake. After a few sips I get nauseated, and usually end of vomiting. I'm not sure how to get my 60 grams in daily wo a couple shakes. But I'm sick of feeling sick. I do fine w other liquids and when I eat my yogurt or other soft foods. Any suggestions? I'm calling my dr. On Monday.

When looking through Prosource.com's site, it rated NutiPure as its top rated MRP. This Protein shake is 290 calories and it has: 16 grams of carbs 43 grams protein 100% DV of Vitamins A, C, E 80% DV Calcium 50% DV of Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamin, and many, many more. I used to drink this during my fitness days (10 yeas ago), and I liked the flavor when blended with frozen fresh fruits; however, I don't know if this has too many calories for the full liquid diet phase, or too many carbs, or too many sugars (4 grams--60 cals). Any suggestions or ideas?

I love iced coffee and I had to give that up but I heard there is a way to make some using Protein powder...I also heard of making ice cream?? I am a newbie to all this and was hoping to get feedback. Thanks in advance

Had my surgery on 4-4-13. I'm having an awful time with the protein shakes. Bought 3 huge tubs of whey isolate from gnc and couldn't stomach it... Then bought the EAS shakes but I have an even harder time with those! The only thing I've been able to get down is vanilla creme muscle milk, but I'm not sure if this is an option because I never hear people mention it. Is this an OK way to get my protein?

I bought a chocolate powder at Walmart and I got the Fuzzy Navel and Latte powders from Syntrax. No matter how much I shake them (with the blender ball bottle) or stir/whisk them, there's always lumps floating in it. And the powder settles to the bottom of the glass. Blending it does help but it leaves a lot of foam in the drink. And foam = more gas I don't need! Advice???

Hope to have my surgery June or beginning of july. I feel like the shakes & vitamins could break the bank should I start buying some stuff over the next few months? I have read of the possible taste changing but what are some things that can give my stash a head start? Vitamins were just on sale BOGO at my local grocery store. I didn't know what to get. Any helpful hints? I can not afford $50.00-$100.00 a few weeks for shakes & vitamins. Are any of the supplements prescription or covered by insurance ? What are some cheap but good protein shakes or drinks?

Hi VSG'rs I wanted to share this website I came across last night. I was looking for something to spruce up my Protein Shakes for an occasional treat! The recipes here are all Protein Powder based and they look amazing. I tried the Samoa recipe and it was amazing. I don't recommend it for every day, because they are almost like dessert, but it's definitely something to try. Protein and it is AWESOME.. I tried the unjury Unflavored and it smelled awful and made me gag. This Jay Robb stuff is (for me anyway) completely undetectable in everything I have tried so far (Crystal Light, Trop 50, Soups, etc). I've used the Jay Robb vanilla and a lot of the Syntrax Nect…

So I'm just gonna throw this out there. HCG... Injections or pills... What did people think of them? I did the pills for 21 days and felt great... Preop... Just wondering if anyone would or has tried these post op? Say if you were in a funk or long stall? After all we are eating about the same menu and portions anyway. Would a horomone that helps use fat for energy as opposed to muscle etc be so bad?? Any input appreciated as I ponder throwing it in after a long stall lol... After all people get pregnant after vsg and they turn out just fine? Thanks

I really want to try the Syntrax nectar shakes but I can't find them anywhere except online, which has outrageous shipping costs. I also would like to sample them before committing to that big barrel at the huge costs. Anyone in Canada know somewhere that ships or sells samples? Or anything comparable to these in Canada. I like the fruity ideas since I imagine I'll get sick of chocolate stuff real fast.

Has anyone tried this/have opinions on it? It seems very popular in some circles but I can't find mention of it here (I searched the forum and found no references). The nutritional profile looks good, although it is not 100% whey which seems to be what people regard as the "gold standard"? http://www.howtobeast.com/review-trutein-chocolate-peanut-butter-protein/ http://bodybuilding.ultimatefatburner.com/trutein.html

The one I got was from Walmart, the "Body Fortress" whey Protein in chocolate. In one scoop it has 30g of protein and 170 calories. Is this too high? I hear a lot about the nectar ones on here which are much lower in calories, but I'm not sure where to find them (Alberta, Canada) and I would also like to finish the one I bought before I buy anymore. Thoughts?
