Wanted to share this...copied from Dr. Alvarez's facebook group page Endobariatric.com that I'm a member of. These are made with Vi-Shape shake mix, but I'm guessing they could also be made with vanilla Protein powder. I haven't made any to date...hope someone who is struggling with finding a shake they like can make use of these! Enjoy! Shake recipes By Alvarez in juice, 4 oz. (1/2 cup orange juice), 2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix, 1 cup frozen pineapple & 5 ice cubes. Blend well in blender. All berry Delight: 8 oz. skim milk, 2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix, 1/4 cup frozen raspberries, 1/4 cup frozen blackberries, 1/4 cup frozen strawberries, ¼ cup frozen dark …

I was wandering around target yesterday trying to find a solution to bringing protein powder to work and was failing miserably so I went to get baby utensils and found the formula containers! I remembered reading about it at some point but forgot about it. This thing is awesome! I wish I had a few of these during pre op!

So, I over prepared. I am able to start protein today so decided to try one of these , I opened the grape frost flavor and I personally can't do it so now I have 47 bottels that I am more than likely not going to use. If anyone is interested and live in jersey (they are too heavy to ship) I will sell them to you well under the cost of what I paid. Just want to get rid of them

I've been reading a lot of reviews on the nectar Protein powder. Quite a few flavors and folks seem to like them. Anyone here try them? I'm thinking about ordering a sample package of them. Some websites sell a 13 flavor pack. From what I'm reading it mixes easily and the fruit ones, like apple remind folks of jolly ranchers and the cherry reminds folks of Kool-aid. Sounds better than some of the powders I've tried.

I've read several posts where people take vitamins/supplements right after surgery. My Nut. has me taking them again at stage 3-puree. I miss the sublingual B12-without caffein I could feel the difference energy-wise and I had to stop taking vit/supplements 3 weeks Pre-op. Does anyone know why the stoping and restarting?

I just have to share with everyone because I am excited and relieved! I am 2 weeks post op today and have struggled with getting Protein in and finding a shake I can tolerate. I've dumped on Bariatric Advantage shakes, and on milk with dry milk powder added to it. I was so frustrated and starting to notice the effects of low protein... So I saw a few threads on the nectar powder from Syntrax. I was extremely skeptical, but I am amazed. I have only had crystal sky nectar, which tastes like a mixed fruit juice... And I just finished the matrix mint Cookies and cream. Both had a great flavor! They don't smell as good as they taste, so I would recommend not smelling be…

Hi! Has anyone got any advice on these? I have heard mixed reviews. I hear they are a bit tart and not all that great. Also that they should be cold when you drink them. I just haven't seen too many posts on them. They are 42g for some and 26g for some others. I was thinking it may be good to have on hand early on. I can drink 1/2 or a 1/4 of one at a time to get in the most Protein I can while on the liquid phase. Can anyone share their experience with these.... good or bad. thanks so much,

After surgery, when will I be able to have fruit in my drink like a banana and strawberries. I am taste testing different brsnds before my date to see which one I like. I like Premiere vanilla with some strawbery, banana and Yoplait Greek yogurt. It will give me about 45 g. Protein in one drink.

I was just on this website reviewing an automatic refill on my supplements that I CAN NOT afford this week. I honestly don't remember signing up for the automatic refill program but oh well, the damage is done and my vitamins are on the way to my house. $75 dollars that could have gone in my gas tank! LOL Anywho... I noticed they have a program that sends a text message to your phone to remind you to take your vitamins. What a great idea! Has anyone tried it out yet? It looks like I need to go in my PC to set it up but I was just wondering how dependable it is.

So I got the Chike flavor samples and decided to try the chocolate today. I also decided to freeze a small banana and add it to my shake. I used unsweetened almond milk 1 1/4 cup. 1 sample packet of chike and banana and it was over 300 calories and 23 carbs. Guess I will not be having this combo for Breakfast again! I used almost half my calories for the day on breakfast. The good thing is that it seems like it is going to be very filling so I may not be able to finish the whole thing. Next time I will only use half a banana and make a smaller portion. Learned a lesson that you still have to watch the numbers even with Protein shakes!

I know the standard is 8 ounces for most powdered protein shakes. Can we drink that much all at once? Do u make half a serving size or just make a standard amount and sip until gone? Does this make sense? Lol

H~E~L~P Ok I'm so darn confused. I have not started seeing a nutritionist yet, they may answer this. But I'm wanting to know which is better, what is the difference between the 2. I have been told that Soy is good for women but that's all I have heard. If you all would be so kind to explain the difference. Thank you in advance for all your help :}

First let me say I really like the unflavored unjury powder. My question is-has anyone noticed the froth you get at the top when you blend the powder with milk? Its pretty thick and gross and I want to scrape it off and throw it out but I’m worried there is a lot of protein in the froth and hate to waste it! Any thoughts?

I was sleeved on October 26th and I've just started adding back my protein drinks and I'm having a hard time. None of the ones I liked before surgery taste good to me, in fact one of them made me nauseous. Every time I take a sip of one it feels very uncomfortable going down, no matter how small it is. I don't have any trouble getting liquids, broth, or cream soups down. Has anyone else had this trouble. I'm afraid about not getting in enough protein.

I have a quick question, how many carbs are you allowed pre-op and post-op. I started my two week diet on Tuesday and I am afraid I am taking in too many carbs when I add the protein shake to lite soy milk. Does anyone know the number of carbs you are allowed each day? I am scared I am screwing up already!

Hi all... Today is Day 6 of my two week pre-op liquid Protein fast... I have been doing the pre-made shakes for work and when I am out and about... at home, I use the powder because I can mix it with ice cubes and make it a little thicker... but it still needed something. Today, I picked up some sugar free Hershey choc syrup... only 15 cal and 5 gr of carbs for two tablespoons. One squirt makes a HUGE difference in my choc shakes... MUCH more satisfying. Oh, and I use skim or almond milk (almond milk has only 40 cal for a cup) and it makes it more filling as well. I alternate between the filling choc above, or I use the GNC mixed berry powder with 1 c. milk, about 4 ic…

I had a doctor's office tell me today that they have a specific supplement package that is rather expensive that you take afterwards. I thought this odd as no one has mentioned anything like this on this board. I only see a list of either prescriptions or OTC items people buy and take.... Any thoughts?

I've just had my first ever Protein shake, and I'm very impressed! I chose the chocolate variety, but have ordered strawberry too. I'm thinking I might put some ice in next time, and this will keep it cool and also thin it out a bit, as it seems to get thicker the longer it lies, I'm only 20 days out, so it takes me a while to get one down me.. Up until now I have been having Slimfast shakes... I though that would be fine, but seems theres too many carbs in them - unfortunately I've got a small stockpile, but luckily my daughter is doing Slimfast, so they won't go to waste.

I've read through my nut. documents and I can't find anything about why whey protein is the preferred protein for Bariatric surgery. Now there's "pea protein" (Dr. Oz show). Does different protein react differently (like fats) or can they be interchanged as long as grams are met? (After 3 weeks Pre-op and now 2 post, the taste of whey is starting to get to me!)
