Does Your Spouse Or So Know Your Weight?
Mina...how joyous to make that call to your dad! My parents are both gone now, but i think they'd approve. My dad's saying was"no risk, no reward"! Sleevenn...i totally understand about the vacation thing. Ugh! After my prev marriage ended, i told the ex that i never went to see his parents only because i didnt think i could fit in an airplane seat. He was shocked at this information. He thought i just didnt like them (half true) LOL! PEvette.....your story was heartwarming and inspirational. So far i told two besties, that live 1500 mi from me...my bro and his family and hubby. It's funny because i am the queen of TMI!! But not re the surg. We'll see how long it lasts.

Does Your Spouse Or So Know Your Weight?
Just curious if you told them your weight. I go for first meeting with surgeon next week...(finished with all preliminaries, after appt they submit to insurance). Anyway, while ago i received a computerized message confirming my appt, and it said ," remember to bring your support person". Huh? First i've heard of that!! And of course the ofc is closed now so i can't call them. I suppose my "support person" is my husband, and i'm quietly hyperventilating at the idea of him walking back there with me and seeing the number on the scale!!!! Eeeeeek!

Wish They Would Come Out With Something New Besides Sleeve.
Arena Pharmeceuticals and Oryxigen? pharm are working on wt loss drugs. Arena's is closer to being approved. I've asked pcp for rx for phentermine or something!! But hbp prevents it. I will be P*SSED if they approve a magic pill the day after my surgery!! LOL

Just Starting (Part 2)
Hi Cholula, I am in the pre surgery stuff myself. Hope to do it in oct. Here's an outlune of what i have done, although not in your state or your ins co...might give you an idea of how it might be: Feb 2012: called for seminar appt -- large packet mailed to me, took part of it to my PCP who had to fill out info Apr 9: 3 hr seminar...turned in packet Must be current on Pap, mammo...went to those appts in april Apr 16: history and physical with PA at wls office Apr 17: psychiatric eval, as required April 25: 3 hr seminar about nutrition Placed on balanced eating plan...basically like ww or something..fruit, veg , prot dairy etc each meal. Must fill out food log May 4: gallbladder ultrasound to see if i have stones. If yes the surgeon removes gb during wls. Mjne was ok. Whew June 6: one on one appt with nutritionist. Turn in food log. She decides how many more times she needs to see you. I go back once more, first part july....and again turn in a food log June 22: colonoscopy, again a requirement from my wl surgeon So that's where i'm at. I had no idea it was this involved! But glad everything is knocked out except colon!!! I imagine after my next and final nut appt, they will set an appt with'the surgeon, who will then set surg date. Hope this helps!!! Best of luck to you! We can DO THIS!!!

Pre-Op Blues Forum!
I got in trouble w/ nut yesterday. I had my notebook (food diary ) filled out for the past month. Towards the end i found MFP but continued the food diary. She was frowning, and looked so exasperated! She said "this is all over the place! " as she flayed the pgs with her thumb then slammed it shut. I'd lost 3 lbs BTW. I think she was not happy that my meal times were not always the same (but darn close), and that i am not having fruit, veg and dairy at every meal, and why am i drinking prot shakes sometimes???? So i pinned her down on just how many calories etc does she expect? (so i can fill in MFP goals). She wants 1300 cal/carb 200/prot 60/fat 30. I'm discouraged and feel sorry for myself!! If i could follow this plan, i wouldn't be Needing WLS! Geez. I'm tempted to just BS the next month's food diary and do my own thing. I only have one more appt with her, thank goodness.

30 Mins To Eat?
I haven't had surg yet. After the Nut seminar, she had us go on a "balanced eating plan". Part of what we are supposed to do is, no drinking w/meals and take 30 mins to eat. My question is....those that have HAD surg and now only eat tiny amounts of food...do you still take 30 mins to eat??? Thanks!!!
