My surgery on December 17th. Surgery went great, I was up and walking. Biggest obstacle for me at the hospital is using the bathroom by myself. With the RA it is hard to do normal hygeine care anyway. Add in IV's and drains and then well, thankful I have husband that didn't mind wiping me. They gave me stress doses of predisone all three days. On day 2 I started running a low grade fever. I never get fevers thanks to the predisone. It concern me. Doctors and nurses thought I was crazy having a 99.2 and in pain from it. I kept repeating that I am chronic steroid user. They dismissed it. I came home on Wednesday, still no problems from actual surgery. Just this…

Hello, I am curious if you've had a pulmonary embolism or blood clot located in another location? After meeting the surgeon today I feel like it is important to do a little more research on blood clots. The surgeon said that she feels like the biggest risk for this surgery is pulmonary embolisms, which can be fatal. I understand that this is rare, but my mind can not rest. Have you had a blood clot? I am scheduled for my surgery on Nov. 15th. I was top weight of 330, at 310 in July when I actually started the whole sleeve journey. I am down to 278 as of yesterday. yaaaaaaaaaaaaay lol. Hoping to loose a few more in the next 11 days. Just could use someone to connect with that is going thru this as well. Would love to find someone close who could be a real buddy and maybe a workout partner.

My VGS was done 5/9/12, I have lost 90# and feel great!! Everything is getting smaller too...which leads to my question... Do we lose weight in our ear canals? My hearing aide keeps almost falling out of my left ear canal...so weird!! I've worn hearing aides for 20 years but have never been at this weight since I started weighing them. What do you think? I'm gonna have to take them and have new ear molds made.

Would love to hear from all my fellow sleevers to see how they're doing. I was sent home the next day and haven't had any problems yet, just napping alot. Weighed this am and am down 10 lbs!!

I am post band to sleeve revision since 12/6 and I feel amazing! I wanted to post this to share my experience and to help anyone considering a sleeve for their WLS. I am down 27 pounds and had to go buy a few shirts. This is so great since I never saw results like this with my band. My family and friends can not believe the change that has already occurred and my wife says I'm gonna be too skinny soon (yeah right!). This is so great! Hi everyone, I've just finished all my prerequisites for my VSG and am so excited for my surgery in December. Hope to find some friends that are going through the same journey I am that I can share victories with as well as vent when needed. Had surgery on Sept 6th, day of surgery was 245, and I'm five weeks out and down to 218. Still in a stall, haven't lost much this past month. So frustrating. Just wondering where everyone else was at with their weight loss, lack there of. Anyone being in stalls, what did u do to break out of the stall?

Even since I had the surgery, sleeved 8/7/12, I am always cold. It is so unlike me to be cold. I was the one who was always hot.. Felt like I was having hot flashes in the dead of winter. I had a lapband in 2009 with a start weight 195. I am now 168 and considering a sleeve. I am going to go to Dr Filipe Garcia at www.bariatrichouse.com. I had some plastic surgery with Dr Cardenas who is sharing a facility with him. I hear a lot of ppl disappointed with lapband. I paid 16000 out of pocket for band and now will be paying about $5000 for this surgery. Anyone in my situation?

It seems that with the amount of people just on this site the leak percentage would be more than 1%! I did read somewhere that with the gaining popularity of the sleeve, complication rates are rising. So maybe 1% is an outdated statistic?

I'm alittle worried about my sex drive. I'll be 4 weeks out on Thursday and my desire for sex is GONE! Is this normal? Anybody else experience this? Does the desire come back?

I'm 1 week post op and so far this has been a very hard wk. The hardest thing for me is watching TV! I see these food commercials and I go through an emotional roller coaster. I know I'm not physically hungry but I'm so head hungry! Is this my food addiction or me breaking habits? I feel broken

Can anyone tell me if withdrawal is normal....on my 4 th day of liquids I begin to shake and sweat one minute them turn cold and stop shaking...im on 6 days now and fine.

Today I am 2 weeks post op band to sleeve revision. I am down 27 pounds and feel great! Doctors orders are 3 week of liquids before thin purees. Christmas is next Tuesday; 2 days before my 3 weeks. I think for Christmas dinner I will try thin purée, perhaps some mashed potatoes and gravy. Do you think that's a bad idea and that I should wait the 2 days? See, we are American Italian and rest assured there will be a feast for the day. I'm wondering if I can do harm by starting the purees early. Any comments or experiences are welcomed. And of course; Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Has anyone here had it? It was confirmed that I have a narrowing of the distal portion of my esophagus. My endoscopy is this morning at 8 and I'm a nervous wreck. I can't sleep and I'm worrying too much. If it's not as scary as it sounds can someone please calm my nerves? What can I expect?

I have been going through all the requirements for months and last week I got the okay from my insurance company and received a surgery date from my surgeon. So many emotions and feelings. Excited, anxious, frightened, happy, sad and all while being confident in my decision. Im not afraid of the discomfort or hard work ahead, but terrified of the worst case scenario's they keep telling me. Im a mother of two small children (2 and 4) and am so worried. I know everyone feels this way, but I don't want to back out from fear. Anyone else feeling like that or having surgery in July like me??? I was self-pay for my surgery and just got a bill for surgical pathology dated for the day of my surgery. Of course it's Saturday so I may not be able to get a better explanation from the doctor for a couple of days. Just wondering if anyone else had some sort of pathology related to their surgery, and if so - why? Thanks!

I am three months out of sugery today and I feel great. Other than a touch of reflux, which meds and peppermints assist with, I am doing fabulous!!! However, being a revisionista from the band to the VSG, I knew that there was work involved with WLS and now it is starting. I joined MFP and have been tracking. I missed a few days of tracking and I went off the radar. It wasn't that I ate high volume in food, I actually ate low volume of food with high volume of calories. I started my journey in Feb of this year. After my first visit i was told i had to complete 6 months of a supervised diet with a nutritionist. In april my insurance changed and automatically the Dr's office decided that since it had changed that the requirements probably changed. They never bothered to really find out so after 3 months of NUT Visits they submitted my paper work and gave me a surgery date of July 2. Well not to my surprise i was NOT APPROVED! Reason? How long out from surgery are u pretty much in the clear? I'll be 4 weeks post op Monday, I've had no problems, and I'm on soft foods. Everyone seems to be coming down with a stomach bug and it freaks me out! Am I far enough it to not be worried anymore?

My wife and I both had gastric sleeve in July. I lost a ton of weight at first, but fear I have hit a plateau. I started at 419 now I am at 321. Anyone else with a similar situation? Just wondering.

Got the ok to advance to thin purees starting Christmas Day. Can you guys share what you ate/eat? I would appreciate any ideas or recipes for thin purees. I'm looking forward to mash potatoes or even a scrambled egg. Certainly can't have the Christmas antipasto, lasagna or ham so I'm depending on you for some ideas. Everyone has a tipping point. For me, it was several things. This picture kind of helped me in making the decision to get VSG (see below). Needless to say, I've attached an image . I think most of of have seen it. It's a comparison of two women who have undergone a full medical scan. On the left you have a woman who is 250 pounds, on the right, a women who is 120 pounds. I don't know their ages, nor height, which is always a factor, but looking at this picture it's just shocking. Has anyone else experienced acid reflux only after having an endoscope? I can't sleep. And I have never felt anything like this. I am thinking about forgetting this surgery!! I have never experienced this untill they shoved that junk down my throat.. They obviously damaged something. If anyone has any experiences please do contact me or reply because right now I'm about to have a panic anxiety overload. It makes me not trust these doctors. Hello, I have made a similar statement before but not the exact same. I have a bulging upper belly (in which I was told is the result of the stomach now sitting above the band). Has anyone else had this problem before being sleeved. If so, Is it better now?

I am a Election Day Sleever....I named my sleeve "Sleevie Nicks" or sometimes "The food Warden" I love my sleeve lifestyle! I am 6 weeks today and feel GREAT! I'll try to make this short and sweet I had lap band surgery in February of 2007. I was diagnosed as eroded in November of 2011 and was removed in March of 2012. I elected to switch to a new surgeon to perform the gastric sleeve surgery who required that I wait six months after the removal of my band in order for the scar tissue to heal and the adhesions to settle down. He also required that I have an upper GI, an upper endoscopy and an esophogeal monometry in order to ensure that I would be a good candidate for a high pressure system like the sleeve. I had my surgery this past Monday. I am at home recovering with two very little children (7mo and 2yrs). I am working really hard and am getting all my water and protein in. So far, my only side effects are pain still in the big incision, nausea (gone now) and bad constipation. It is a wonderful feeling though to not be hungry all the time anymore!!!! How about you guys?! Successes?? Setbacks?? Just wanted to see how everyone else was doing with their new sleeve.

I will be 30 tomorrow and I'm so excited to be entering my thirties and not be obese. I started my journey in November 2011 at 260lbs. I had surgery 3/13/2012 at 250lbs and a BMI of 49. Here are some more things I want you to know about if you are thinking about having WLS and you are having the “Sleeve.” We have talked a little or a lot about “slimming or phlegming” In case you missed it, when you first start eating regular food you have to re-learn how to eat again and chew. With your new stomach you will need to take small tiny bites and chew until the food in your mouth is almost liquid like. This is nothing like what you had been doing your entire life. In the past you eat and talk and put big bite in your mouth along with a few chews and then swallowing—this will NO LONGER WORK FOR YOU. This is a very difficult thing to change. So with your …

I am having second thoughts...nervous...worried. In particular, the doctor said that if the scar tissue from my eroded band is too bad that he may not do the sleeve but do an RNY instead. My current thinking is that if he goes in and it is too bad, that I might rather just keep my stomach intact. Maybe it's the universes way of telling me that I shouldn't get the sleeve. I am feeling guilty, and silly for even being here...and a little sorry for myself that I got to this point. What is wrong with me? Oh geez, I don't know if I can go through with this. Wow I noticed on my last post it stated advance member. That was on my 30th post. Does any one know what the other titles are and at how many post each are reached? Just curious. This site has been great to help me through an extremely painful time both phiciscally and emotional. I think I am healing now but emotional I still fear further complications!
