Hi all I live in the Upperfreehold/Robbinsville/Allentown New Jersey area. I am looking for fellow sleevers in the area. Maybe we can get together and support each other. I have a few questions every now and then and would be nice to have someone local, rather than on the internet. Hope you answer!!

Are there any Charlotte sleevers that have had and complications? My information was sent to insurance on Friday, I'm getting excited but still nervous at the same time.

YAY! I got my surgery date and approval from insurance company! My date is December 10th! My Dr is Dr Andrade at NYBG. Has anyone used him? This is my first post on this site so I am not sure how this works. I would love some advice as to what to expect. I am starting my pre op diet today so if anyone has words of wisdom or advice or anything, I dont know anyone who has got this done so I dont have any educated support. Thanks :)

Hi, My name is Kathy and I am new to this group, site and WLS process. Does anyone know a time frame from taking a Seminar to actually getting the surgery? I have no idea what time frames are for this process. I am blessed and already know my insurance will cover this. I am supposed to hear from the office of the surgeon for my first appt date next week. I am not the most patient person so if I know how long I need to wait I can prepare myself. I have been dealing with hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, insulin resistance, asthma, GERD, Chronic Fatigue syndrome and several other issues. So the bill says 110,915.17 after all the discounts it totals 28,207.00 that's a pretty penny IMO not to bad considering I spent 4 days in a private room at Cedars Sinai..

Tomorrow is my day! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'm worried about feeling pain after surgery and not being able to sip water or fluids at all. Any suggestions?

so i got my date of January 8th and of course i am wicked nervous, also a little excited. i've already lost a good 10 lbs......i start my liquid diet on 12/8/12. i am hoping to lose at least a total of 20-25lbs before surgery. anways. right now im like 360lbs but i am really strong. like i can bench 200lbs and squat probably 250lbs believe it or not. i was a big eater and drinker. i could crush a lot of food. 1/2lb burgers fries rings and half of my wifes burgers. plus a few cokes and a few beers. i was like a bottomless pitt. honestly. my question is, after this surgery in January, how am i going to feel? i know the 1st month or 2 will suck. im talking like 6 mont…

Ok so i was sleeved in august and have been doing great but got the flu 5 days ago. Im feeling better as far as that goes but still having a hard time eating and i have epilepsy so now my seizures are acting up. Im down 6lbs since this started and begining to worry.

When i woke up from coming out of surgery, i was in pain. The docs quickly took care if that. Not much pain or anything now. I have a compression garnet on. I just can feel how tired my body is. I self payed and the hospital was 9250 for 1-3 days. They were gonna let me go home and i told them id rather stay another day. I meant I just got sleeved.

How many of us are starting our liquid diet tomorrow(Wed 28th)? I will be on a 2 week 800 calorie liquid diet.

Please share your experience and or advice with the Military hospital before and after care. I am almost done with the checklist but any advice would be helpful. And who was your surgeon?

Hi all, Thanks for the prayers, sleeved yesterday, home today. everything went great. I am very sore and moving slow but tolerating liquids well. it feels different not at all hungry and you do have to sip sip sip to get close to goals. I know now why they say proteins first cause you feel full so quickly.Proteins anf fluids in the required amounts is what gets the weight off, and keeps it coming off.

I had my band put in about 2 yrs ago and yes it went well for a while and yes i thought it was the best thing ever. I lots about 30kgs to start with cloths were starting to fit I started to feel good my knee even started to heal. Then my doctor decided that my ever so complicated port was getting harder and harder to access. Shes sent me back to the surgeon and off i went on the down ward spiral to me having the band out and deciding to have the sleeve done. So sorry for such a TMI post, but I've noticed lately that mine is very light in color, certainly not brown like it used to be. It's also very thin. I am almost 4 months out, lost 40 lbs, have 20 more to go. I've Googled "color of poop" and basically everything I've found is either bile duct obstruction or colon cancer. Well, I tend to think that it's neither since I am a WLS patient. Any thoughts?

I started this process on Oct 23rd and sometimes I am nervous and other times I am excited!! I just got my paper work and have talk to my gastro doctor and this week I will have a real conversation with my internist. I been struggling with my weight for over 10yrs now and I have tried everything including starvation. I am not expecting a miracle I just want to feel like I can walk and run and jump without feeling my knees about to pop or my ankles being so weak. Hey everyone! I am 4 months post op and 40 kilos down I have noticed that for about a month now my hair has been falling out excessively, literally, hand fulls and hand fulls. I am 20 years old and I feel like by 25 I may possibly be bald :/ is this normal? Has anyone had this happen? Does it stop?

I went into the hospital yesterday for the sleeve and gall bladder removal. I came out with my stomach intact and minus the Gall bladder. Half way through my surgery I had an adverse reaction to the anesthesia. My heart rate shot up and they had to stop and stabilize me. Per the cardiologist, I have no cardiac issues to worry about and it is good they now know so that they can be prepared for next time. Very disappointed, but it was what needed to be done to be safe. On the positive side, the recovery for both surgeries is similar so I can report that I am up and walking around, very little gas and just a little pain on one side. The hospital staff were ama…

Hi all, Well I almost have a date, I've seen the NUT, the psych and had the all clear. I suffer heartburn especially after 3 kids, my surgeon wants to do an endoscopy (camera into stomach) to make sure nothing serious is causing it before he goes ahead. My question is did you suffer from heartburn before VSG? Has it changed after surgery and lasty did your surgeon do any tests prior to surgery for it? Thanks to all in advance!

Finally here. Finally. I just have to get through today. It has been a horrific week! I am so sick of the sweetness of everything. I practically gag just thinking about having to drink my Protein drink. Did I cheat? I had a few bites of turkey on Thursday and Friday. Turkey is protein, so I didn't think it was horrible cheat. I guess what prevented me from cheating is that I like my liver. I don't want it to be in the way. I am keeping my eye on the prize--my new body in around six months. yesterday I went to the store and I wear a size 12. I'm down 119 lbs. I was so excited going from 24 to 12. My daughter laughed at me cuz I was so excited. Just thought I would share.:biggrin0:

I am scheduled for pre-op on December 5. I have been waiting on this time to come,but now I'm having all these what if thoughts. Like what if something happens to me during surgery or the outcome isn't good...have anyone else experienced these scary thoughts. Could someone tell me how long it took after pre-op to have the surgery done.

My sleeve is schedule for 7:30 in the morning! I'm excited and at peace lots of people are praying for me. In the hospital after surgery, I started breaking out. Now I can't get rid of the pimples on my face. The pimples that I do get rid of other one pop up. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hey all, I'm new here and just got sleeved this week. I'm doing fine so far, but am having the usual problems with head hunger and trying to break out of the munchies mode. My big problem now is that I have zero support at home. My wife had RNY several years ago, but has gained back most of the weight. She has no problem going in the kitchen and whipping up a big meal for her and the kids and sitting down in front of me and chowing down. This morning she made waffles with fruit and bacon of all things. Easily one of my favorite breakfasts and sat down as I was choking back my pills with a bottle of water and started eating. I'm new to this sight. I was sleeved on Nov 5 and I'm still sick. Never thought I would go through what I'm going through. I'm still on liquids the Saturday after my surgery I had to be rushed back to the hospital for severe abdominal pains. Was admitted and had to stay until the following Tuesday. Thought things would get better no leaks or anything. Now I'm home still not able to get protein in because all the shakes make me sick to my stomach I have been drinking Gatorade and water to make sure I stay hydrated. Please help... Hey all!! A little about myself: I'm 22 years old && have always dealt with weight issues. I graduated high school in 2008 && have since gained 40 pounds O_o!! Tell me about it, right? I honestly have NO idea how I've gained all this weight. Last year I went up to 251 lbs at only 5'3". I am now down to 235 lbs. In 2007 I was 218 lbs. Hi, I am 4 months post op. I have lost 70 pounds and have 70 more to go. I'm so excited about this journey I am on. I went from a size 30 to 20, my knees barely hurt anymore. I am more active then ever, even doing the eliptical machine. this was the best thing I have done for myself. Tomorrow I turn 42. In April of this year, I weighed my highest ever .... 338. I decided to have the surgery and thought it was my absolute last chance at a "normal" life. I'm down to 228 this morning. 110 pounds gone - forever. Even though I'm down this much and my self esteem is alot higher, I still feel like the fat person I started out as. I still don't want my husband to see my naked. I knew I'd have loose skin but its still filled with fat. I have no idea where I want to be. I know I want to get to at least 170 , maybe 150. I'm 5,8. Despite the major stalls, nasty Vitamins, the inability to enjoy my favorite food (greasy cheeseburgers), I have managed to lose some weight. My surgery was 5 months ago, and to date, I have lost 65lbs, and gone from a size 24 to a size 16. I still have 86lbs to go...hope to be back with goal pics soon! The first picture in black and pink, was just before surgery...273lbs, and GROSSLY FAT! I have been struggling with my weight for 7 years now and have done everything from weight watchers to see a weight loss doctore, will little success that didn't last. I am 5'3 and currently 185 (and with the holidays, counting) with a BMI of 32.8. Any thoughts of whether or not I would be considered for the sleeve?

Optifast brought me down to 290 for surgery day. I was not very successful for the first 6 months or so, but once we found the right restriction, weight started dropping.
