Anyone Have Heartburn/reflux Before Vsg?

Hi all,

Well I almost have a date, I've seen the NUT, the psych and had the all clear. I suffer heartburn especially after 3 kids, my surgeon wants to do an endoscopy (camera into stomach) to make sure nothing serious is causing it before he goes ahead.

My question is did you suffer from heartburn before VSG? Has it changed after surgery and lasty did your surgeon do any tests prior to surgery for it?

Thanks to all in advance!

I had severe acid reflux before surgery and took omaprazole daily. Since you are going to be changing your eating, eating your meat first and vegies and chewing all your food slowly, there is less chance for it afterwards.

I still can get it if I eat too fast but changing the way your eat goes a long way to helping me since I have had surgery.

The papers that I signed with the surgeon before they set up the surgery date said that I should be aware that many people have acid reflux after this surgery. I do not have it now but my surgery is next week and we shall see.

I had it horribly before surgery. I am a month out now and have only had it once since then. I took my prescription that the dr. gave me and it was gone instantly.

This is something I'm afraid of. I've read a lot of people experience hear burn after this surgery. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm not one of them!

I started having heart burn 2 months before my sleeve surgery. When my surgeon did the scope he found half my stomach had herniated into my diaphram! Needless to say he fixed me right up and I have had 0 problems since and I'm 10 weeks post op.

I have heartburns bad and i had to get prescribe the purple pill to help. It does work. So i can drink coffee and eat certain foods without feeling bad.
