I progressed to puree over the weekend and things seem okay so far. Anyone else? I have some soreness on my right side, but I don't know if that's from the gallbladder removal or the sleeve! lol Seeing my Dr. for the first time this Thursday. Hope I get the okay to go back to work (at least part time) cuz I'm starting to go stir-crazy at home! Love to hear from other Dec. Sleevers!!! Yael

I was reading a YouTube by a dr saying that because lapband stretches esophagus and pouch he does not recommend to do removal of the band and sleeve in one surgery and that weight loss is poor if they are done together. Any thoughts,

I had my surgery August 5, 2011. I was 321 lbs. at my heaviest. The day of my surgery I weighed 308 lbs. As of today I weigh 167 lbs. I feel like I am stuck at this weight. I would like to be at least 150 lbs. I have been stuck between 165lbs. - 170lbs. for two months now! I am getting really discouraged! Is this all the weight I am going to lose? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't experience a significant amount of hair loss after my lapband surgery. (I lost over 100 lbs in the first year.) I'm wondering for those who have had both surgeries, was the hair loss the same with both, or was it worse with the sleeve.

I was 6 months out on Dec. 25th, 2012. I have had a very easy road. Unfortunatly I have allowed myself to have the simple carbs again( goldfish, bread, ritz crackers). I'm trying to gain control before I lose control. I started training to run a 5k in march and my Nut said I neede more carbs for the energy. I don't think she meant this kind! Anyway, have you heard of Paleo diet or any other plan that uses low carb? Carbs are allowed in my plan its just that it is triggering old behaviors. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated. How long were you on a PPI if any? Thanks! Kelley

We have entered into the "ember" months! Which for me means having to always keep my weight in check... so much rich sweet foods and less working out due to the outside coldness. Well I'm absolutely DETERMINED to change this habit this year. Who's with me? My challenge to all of you is to have some kind of weight scale goal to reach by January 1st. I being at goal will make mine very minimal. The reason being I'm not really interested in losing weight per se, but being around the same weight by the time this Winter Season ends. So my goal will be to weigh 165 Lbs. Sounds excellent to me! =) Who else is on board with me? I'm looking for some Ole Timers to …

Hello folks, Is it normal to lose weight and then gain a little weight back to "level off"? I started at 265, went down to 185, and now weigh 196 (gained 11 pounds in 3 months ). Is this supposed to be expected?

Hoping to have a revision consult soon and trying to get all of my questions in order. I know I want to ask about anesthesia because I always get sick after I've had it. My band placement was miserable because I woke up so so sick after surgery. I also want to know how the surgeon closes the stomach. Does he just use staples or some kind of "glue" for lack of a better term or both? What did you ask your surgeon?

I realize this is a good problem to have, but NOTHING FITS right now. I had to change clothes three times this morning just to be able to go to work. Pants that are 20s are falling off of me and 18s are too snug. Or, maybe I've been swimming in my 20s for so long now that that I'm just not comfortable making the switch to pants that are 18. I've always been a pear even when I wasn't fat so shirts haven't really been an issue. I wish winter would hurry up and pass so that I can start wearing dresses to work again. They are so much more forgiving and less obvious when they are a bit too big. I can't even use a belt w/ many of my slacks b/c they don't have belt buc…

I'm 18, and 312 lbs. I'm still going through the big ole process of getting the surgery, and I cannot wait. Most people say they want the body they had in high school back, but I want my middle school body back!! My question is though, how hard is the diet adjustment post-op?? So, My surgery is schedule for Feb. 4. YIKES! Anyway, I've started telling family and friends about it and I've noticed an interesting response. While everyone is supportived, the average sized people are all for it. "Good for you" comments and stuff like that. My overweight friends, are more in the camp of, "Are you sure nothing else will work?"

OK ... Time for honesty ... Since the birth of my son on October 11 to now, I have gained 10 pounds from my "preferred" weight. I have gone off plan, eatten cookies, cakes and all the treats around for the holidays. In my past life, I would have blown this off as "anyone would have gained weight with the holidays". But, the new me needs to be accountable and know that only I choose what I put in my mouth and what happens to my body. I need my Sleever Friends to support me. Keep me accountable. Each Monday I am going to weigh and report my progress. I feel my best around 127 with a bounce of down to 125 to 130. So, my goal is to get back to 127 as soon as I can in a safe a…

I'm suffering from several symptoms of PCOs: weight gain, hirsutism (increased hair growth on the face, arms and belly), irregular and often nonexistent menses, "spotting" and Patches of darker, velvety skin on the legs. I read that the surgery might solve it. Mine is due in less than 2 weeks (yay!). However I am still worried that my eating habits caused some permanent, irreversible damage to my body. For instance, ovarian cysts, which tend to evolve into tumors sometimes. If I lose weight and kiss the other PCOs symptoms goodbye, do the cysts disappear or do they stay for good? If you could tell from your own experiences, I'd love to hear.

Any sleevers with either tinnitus or ringing in your ears? I see online that weight loss can help reduce it, and I would love to find that along with fitting into clothes, my condition might improve a bit. Any experience like that, pro or con? Getting sleeved 01/08/13.

For those who don't know, my luggage was lost on the way back from Mexico. I was going to take it as a carry on but was forced to have it put below the plane because the flight attendants weren't allowed to help me lift it, placing it in the bin above my seat. Why? If one attendant became hurt then the flight would automatically be cancelled. After almost six months, my luggage was found in the state of Minnesota!? Yep, it was placed on the wrong plane. I am picking up my luggage Monday and will send an email to everyone from our surgery date just as I hoped to do once landing in Michigan after the surgery. Never flying that airline again Hope all is well Melissa

Hey ladies and gents! These questions may be really stupid, but you won't learn if you don't ask. So here it goes: 1) If you are having surgery in a different city, are you able to do the pre-tests in your home town if they offer them? 1a) If not, how often did you have to travel to the other city? 2) What kind of exams and tests did you have to undergo? We're any of them painful? 3) If your surgery was covered by MSP, did they help with hotel stays and travel? Particularly if you had to travel back and forth numerous times for all your tests and such? 4) Was there a psych evaluation? If so what did that entail? I'm sorry for all the questions, but I've tried …

Date is set, waiting on one piece of paper before they will send my files over to insurance. We have Aetna and they have a quick turnaround the office staff said. It is getting real. Did my chest Xrays, EKG and bloodwork. Going to see my PCP in 10 days for final clearance. Wowza. My Dr sets super low goals...anyone else have a surgeon like that? He said he wants me to lose 60 lbs in a year. Um, I am 39, f, 5'10.5" and weigh 295. He is going to be shocked by the effort and work I put in. I am a SAHM mom to three kids with autism. I am praying for an easy recovery. I will start hanging around here more. Dana

It seemed like every one of my pre-op tests had some sort of follow-up required. The EKG showed an extra blip so I had to go through a nuclear stress test.... but passed. The sleep study was borderline so required a CPAP machine. Dr. requires 3 solid weeks of use prior to surgery or he cancels and he checks the memory card! The chest x-ray showed a spot on my lung. I had to have a CT scan. Turned out to be an old calcification deposit so passed! BUT no... the scan went high enough on my neck that it picked up "something" in my thyroid. Sonogram required. Large nodule found in thyroid. Fine needle aspiration done.. inconclusive.. sent to surgeon... surgeon says …

I had my gastric sleeve surgery on November 30 and have lost 24 lbs. I have not lost anything for the last two weeks and I am terribly depressed and worried I'm not going to lose anymore. I feel like a complete failure, I have tried to do everything the way I was instructed. I do have trouble drinking all my water and the protein shakes make me sick at this point. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to get my weight loss going again. Thank you for any comments!

I have a surgery date of 2/22 in TJ and am totally obsessed with VSG. I think about it before I fall asleep, as soon as I wake up and all day long. My husband can't go with me because of our 4 kids (even though one of my kids is 18, the rest need parental supervision and I would hate to get a call from their school, or worse, and we're out of country!). It's almost bittersweet that my husband can't go. On one hand, we've never been that far from each other and I will miss him so much. I'm anxious about having surgery and managing travel alone. I've never been on a plane before and worry about managing things, especially after surgery. But on the other hand, I need …

Hi, I'm a 24 year old college student and I am considering WLS and am particulary interested in the sleeve. I'm new to this site and still learning about WLS but I would like to hear from people who are around my age who are either in the same place I am (just starting out) or have been through the surgery. I have my consultation tomorrow and I am finding it difficult to come up with questions that I would like to know the answers to. I feel like I might ask something and the doctor might feel like I'm wasting his time. I have a few questions written down that I feel are pretty basic (How many sleeve procedures have you done? What are common complications? etc.) But I a…

Hi, I'm a 24 year old college student and I am learning about WLS and am considering the sleeve for many reasons. I have my first consultation tomorrow and I am finding it hard to think of questions to ask the doctor. I have a few questions that I feel are fairly basic (How many sleeve procedures have you done? How many patients have complications? What are some of the common complications? etc.) but I would like to know from people who have "been there and done that" what kinds of questions are beneficial? Are there any questions that you wished you had asked? Are there any stupid questions? Is there anything you wish you had known about? Also, does any one have anyt…
