I'm looking for someone who can help go through this with me. I was sleeved Wednesday. I did experience minor complications, I am 20 and I'm the youngest patient m doctor has did. I failed my barium swallowing test the morning after surgery because my throat was so swollen. I also had horrible gas pains that medication wouldn't touch. It is now Friday and I finally got to come home. Doing much better just very sore, swallowing is alot better also!

Banded in 2007...I lost 75 lbs...doing O.K. But never got to goal. Started having problems 2 years ago. I went to my band doctor..he wouldn't listen when I said there was something wrong. 3 months ago went to a new surgeon to have an endoscope to find out what was wrong. He found the band was originally placed too low. I have a prolapse of my stomach through the band and esophageal dilation. New surgeon said the band needs to come out. One problem is..no insurance...I would have to be self pay about 16k. My question has anyone had the same problem and what did you do to fix it? Is there a way to NOT have to have a revision to another WLS? I don't want to rush into ano…

On December 31st at 10 am I underwent weight loss surgery. This is something that had been weighing on my mind for about 3 years and I finally took a leap of faith and jumped. My first day was very pain filled but luckily I had some great nurses. Day two was a little better and I walked at least every two hours so the soreness and gas pains really started easing up. That evening my doctor visited me and said he didn't see why I couldn't go home. It was so nice to be able to sleep in a bed that wasn't in a hospital. Day three my soreness was a lot better and now here we are on day 4. I actually have eased up on my pain meds and took a small walk outside down the sidewalk. …

I was sleeved on October 9, and had been in a stall for just about a month-like the scales would NOT move. Happy to say that I have broken the stall with a 3.4 pound loss this morning, for a total of 47.7! Most importantly, my blood pressure is down significantly and I have so many non-sleeve victories. My husband actually complimented my butt last night! To be coming out of the holidays at the same weight was a blessing, but to now have a loss is just great!

  7. I was sleeved on Aug 24th. I started at 348 lbs DOS 333 lbs and now I am 280 lbs. I am excited about my progess and I do NOT follow the way I should but I have got back on track after going cookie crazy during the holidays. But my question is this...and I guess I just would like some reassurance that I will get to my goal of 175 lbs. or my doctors goal of 150 lbs. How long did it take for you to get to your goal coming from 348 lbs or so... Were you exercising? Eating carbs? Drinking all your Water? I try to do all these thing but sometimes I don't do so well... I have lost 68 lbs already but still need 105 to get to goal....seems unrealistic Thanks f…

Posted this on my blog yesterday: After having completed all of the prerequisites, I was told I would be submitted to insurance for pre-approval. That was a week and a half ago. Last Wednesday, I followed up via email, but received no reply. So, I called today. Evidently, they didn't get the Medical Clearance from Dr. Schneider, my primary care physician. Kim told me that they submitted without the clearance, and as expected, insurance called looking for the clearance. She got something today from Dr. Schneider, but it apparently wasn't what they were looking for. I call Dr. Schneider's office and she doesn't have time to call Dr. Krohn's office to find out exa…

Hi everybody, I am looking for a skin creme recommendation for a fellow sleever that has dry skin from the winter and is having very rapid weight loss. Is there a product that will help reduce the amount of skin that is left hanging when all is said and done? I am relatively young (35) and people have told me that some of the skin will retract on its own but not all, especially with my starting weight of 445.

  14. This is my first post. I needed to check in with my fellow December people. Im pretty frustrated, because I'm going on 6 weeks at the same weight. Now mind you I'm doing great. Started at 301 and I'm down to 240, but I've been there now for almost 7 weeks. Anyone else stuck in this 3 month stall? I'm trying to keep my spirits up, thinking this is what the body does and it will strt losing again, but that mindset started to erode after 4 weeks of stalling ... Grrr. I think that I just need to give it more time.

The other night I had a nightmare that was all about the vertical sleeve surgery. I am still trying to make up my mind and generally soul searching to make sure this surgery is what I want to do, so I guess my brain is fixated. It was definitely a negative, bad feelings, waking up sweaty and scared kind of dream. Anyway, in the dream I had just had the surgery, I couldn't have been more than a few days post-OP in my home and there was a pizza container on the counter...and I just walk by, pick up a slice and eat it without even thinking (!!) - the entire piece in seconds. I realize my horrible mistake moments after I finish the last bite ("Oh God, what have I done, so t…

Hi everyone! A little history- Banded in June 2010. Starting weight:262.5 3 slips in less than 2 years- followed the rules, but told it needed to come out anyway as "it's just a piece of plastic that is no longer doing its job." :/ June of 2012, I was down to 166.7 lbs and had to have a complete unfill. Presently- I'm probably close to 200 again, but found out on 12-31-12 that I am approved for VSG. My doctor told me the sleeve will mostly likely stop me from gaining anymore, but that I probably wouldn't lose a whole lot more than I did with the band. WTH?!?!? Does that sound right to you??? How does removing 50% of my stomach (at least, according to my doct…

I am 4 days post op band-to-sleeve revision today. I went back and looked at my wls blog from 2007 when I was banded. I am noticing that I am hungry this time, but not as much as last time. I'm about the same level of soreness (not really pain unless I do something wrong). I do spend less time feeling hungry and worrying about how I'm going to deal with hunger than with the band. One big difference: at this point with the band I had lost 8 lbs, and held at about 12 lbs until my first fill. With the sleeve, I'm down 16 lbs so far. The biggest difference is psychological. I've been through something similar before, so I know the discomfort and inconvenience is a…

My husband is the only person that knows that I was banded, and I'm glad, as it was an epic fail. I met with my surgeon today (not my original one, I've moved a lot) and ended up having a melt down in the exam room. I told him I just want this band removed. It has been hell. He removed all of my fluid and tasked me with considering a revision because considering what I've regained, I've only lost 20 lbs. He also said he can/will do revision in one shot. I want a revision but at this point just want this band GONE! We'll see what happens with my …

Hello all, Am scheduled for surgery on Jan. 2d. I have had a cough for the last couple of days, today I also developed a cold (runny nose/congestion), sore throat, and the cough is worse. According to the facilitator it should be ok as long as I do not develop a fever, plus they put you on antibiotics after the surgery. My questions: the cough is pretty bad. It seems as if it would hurt like *^&% to be doing it consistently post-op with stitches to add to the equation. Also, I'm worried that the cold will generally slow down recovery and make it feel worse all round. My sister (an anesthesiologist) says that generally a cold will do that but that most docs p…

Hey everyone, happy New Year's Eve! Just wanted to introduce myself. I had my lap band to sleeve revision on 12/29 and was discharged yesterday. I was banded in 2007, did pretty well losing 70 lbs in about 18 months. I regained a little bit, and then got pregnant. Pregnancy went fine but had lots of reflux through the whole pregnancy and could barely eat by the end due to fullness. After I had my daughter, the band was never the same, just did not work. It took 2 appeals to get my insurance to approve my revision, but I finally had surgery and my surgeon found that the band was actually unbuckled and completely loose. I had fills up to the maximum but never felt any different or stopped gaining weight. Finally I decided to pursue revision to sleeve. It took 2 appeal letters but I finally got my insurance approval and my revision was on 12/29. My surgeon told me that my band was actually unbuckled and loose on my stomach, so there was no restriction at all. No wonder it didn't work! I suspect that something went wrong during my pregnancy--I had reflux the whole time, which I had never had …
