It is soooo nice to see that I'm not alone on this 200+ lbs to lose journey! My surgery date is April 8th, and I'm counting down the days. It can't come soon enough. I say that but I keep alternating between ecstatic and terrified. Ahh, the confusion!

  2. I recently had my first dr's appt and the nurse suggested the bypass over the sleeve for me because of my co-morbidites. I'm not too sure how I feel about that. I am a little nervous with doing the bypass due to the whole re-routing thing so I'm curious with your weightloss being more than 200lbs what your deciding factor was.

So I am just about one week out from surgery and i feel ok.However I am a bit of a hypochondriac. I get this pain in my left side thats really hurts. It comes and goes through out the day. I think it might be gas, but gas-x doesn't seem to work all that much. It is a sharp sudden pain and i need to stop and breathe as it happens. it also happens when I eat. I am just such a worry wart. Its also hard to remember not to lift ten lbs. I picked up my laundry baskey to fold laundry and scared myself. I think im ok haha, Anyways I just want to know what i should be looking for if there is any problems signs or symptoms. My one week post op appointment is tomorrow and ill ask a…

I'm six months post op, and still throwing up quite regularly. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday, but based on past conversations we will be discussing the option of a full bypass because I can't keep food down with any regularity. Has anyone else gone through this? I NEVER wanted a gastric bypass. I still don't. I would like to eat and not worry about how close a bathroom is. Help?

So, I'm eleven weeks out from surgery, and my hunger never entirely disappeared. It's not a ranging munchies monster (and I'm SO excited about that!), but I do get a definite, strong "empty" sensation first thing in the morning, or a while after meals. This week suddenly I'm feeling full more, and longer. I'm eating the same things I ate last week and the week before, so it's not the transition to denser foods. It did start the day after eating something I shouldn't have earlier this week (emotional eating reared its ugly head for the first time!), but my tummy was completely fine with it at the time - no pain, no discomfort. I'm not sure whether this is normal ebb a…

  7. Had my surgery in Nov/2011. Lost 100lbs by 6 months. In the past 4 months however I have lost about 10 lbs. In 4MONTHS! I had a starting total of 250-300# total to lose. So while I have lost 110# I am still a size 5X which means I haven't even gotten to buy any new clothes yet!! I cannot talk to my surgeon about this because he charges $245 for a followup visit!!! and my insurance won't pay. Yes-I know I should exercise. But I am still so large that that is still nigh impossible. Even walking as I can't find walking shoes that fit yet. Yes-that is all just an excuse I know. Here's the problem. I am consuming 1200-1500 calories a day. Is that high for someone 9 mo…

  11. Don't get me wrong, at first I thought I made a mistake, what have I gotten myself into? The pain from the gas was sickening! One positive thing, I am able to get my fluids down. How long will it take for the gas pain to pass? I be glad when I can start enjoying this new life journey. More positive news, I haven't had an appetite!

  12. Would love to hear your story. I have a BMI of 38, depression/anxiety but no other comorbiditities such as diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, hich chlor, and have been approved from insurance to do the sleeve. My family and friends all thinks its a drastic measure since I'm fortunately health for my size and I should "try" again on my own and Im not that big and why put yourself at risk. Somedays I think I could loose 45 of the 70+ pounds I need to loose (by extreme low carb) as I've lost it several times over but have never been able to go the whole way. My concern is if I cant get a handle on my weight then I will end up with more comorbidities and may no…

So, I'm 13wks out. Lots and lots of changes happening since my VSG surgery. I have noticed that I feel cold alot, and I have the sensory smell of a pregnant woman...which leads me to my topic today. I never thought I would reach the "lose the crave" phase of my recovery. Well fellow sleevers, I'm here today to say that it's a real thing. I'm a junk food junkie, loved fast food, and a straight carb-a-holic. I love french fries, nachos, tacos, burgers, chili dogs, etc....for the first time since surgery I have lost the craving for fast food stuff. With my new "pregnancy sense of smell" my stomach turns with certain odors. While working one day last week a mom of seve…

I had my gastric sleeve done on Tuesday. I feel like I've come such a long way since then. My mom insisted I get out of the house (I haven't been going outside because of my JP drain). So she took me out on a nice, country drive. It was the most awesomest feeling! I want to keep going! We got out of her truck and walked around this park area, with tall grass. It was so invigorating! I can't wait to go back! I feel like a new person! It was beautiful outside and a little chilly! So perfect!

  23. I'm still pre-op so I can't say Mondays are much different for me now. Although, it seems the closer I get to surgery, the more I think about the life changes I'm going to have to make to be successful. Just tonight when I was on the phone with a friend, the topic of drinking Water came up. I have managed to cut down from 3 diet cokes a day to 1. It's probably going to be the hardest thing for me to give up totally. BTW, I was "on the throne" when this conversation occurred. And there may be a lesson here for others. When I woke up today, I didn't feel good, stomach a little queasy. Hmm, I thought, maybe it's because I'm constipated ... better do something about that.…

We currently live in NC at a base that does not provide the surgery, so I am unsure on how to get started. It looks like Ft. Bragg is the closet base that does VSG so do I just go into my PCM and tell them I need a referral to go there? I have an appointment with my PCM on Wednesday so I am trying to gather information as to how to procede. I tried calling Bragg's Bariatric program several days last week and got no answer but will continue this week and be a little more persistant about it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I did so well yesterday. I ate well for Breakfast lunch and dinner. And then at 9 I went to a friends house to catch up with some old girlfriends. I was not hungry or thirsty. I was fine!! But I ate. I had some small pieces of chicken from a Chinese chicken salad, a no-pudge (low fat) brownie, some veggies, and a spoonful of this ambrosia. Overall it wasn't as much as I would eat without a sleeve. They had pizza and wine and chips which I didn't have any but I felt so disgusted with my BEHAVIOR more than my food choices. By the end of the night it was like I ate a cup of food total. Ok fine maybe not a ton of calories. But it was the impulsivity. I didn't feel restriction…

When I talked to my supervisor about needing time off to recover from a surgical procedure, she didn't seem curious or surprised at all. Now I know why. During my performance review today, she told me that HR had called her months ago and asked her to tell me that the weight loss surgery I was interested in and had emailed them about was not covered, and that they couldn't add it to the policy (I have since moved over to my husband's insurance). When she said she didn't know of any surgery I was planning, they started to explain it to her, then quickly stopped, backed out of the conversation, said nevermind, and then emailed me back to tell me that it wasn't covered. I still can't believe that this is actually working and that I can handle all the major changes that come with my sleeve, but I love this little thing and I think of it as a little baby that I have to take care of and feed it properly. I also can't believe the way 39 lbs lighter looks on me, the way people react its like it is so major. What the hell did I really look like before, u know? Well it feels great still trying to figure out what to eat, I prefer the liquids now because it's easier. Well I will update in another 6 weeks. I don't weigh myself i let the doc do it .

TMI for Sure. But i need some advice from my fellow sleevers. I was sleeved April 2012. I have had bouts of constipation here and there. But. Nothing like what I am dealing with now. I have been taking miralax for about a week now and have been able to go some. Yesterday I did an enema and within 30 seconds I had to go& it was all watery. I did another enemy today. Went right away again and watery as well. I am so bloated & my abdomen hurts. I'm so nauseous & I feel like there is more to come out. But. Nothing Else is coming out. Any suggestions?? Is this common? Do I call my doctor?
