I was sleeved one week ago today. I had a one week liquid diet prior to surgery where I lost 11 pounds. But I've also lost another 15 pounds in the last 7 days since surgery. If someone had told me a while back that I'd lose 26 lbs in 2 weeks, I wouldn't have believed it. Not being hungry is a bit weird. I'm still on liquids, and I've been really good about getting my Protein shakes in, until today. I had a small amount of Malt-o-meal for Breakfast (this is allowed by my surgeon from day 3 after surgery) and I had such a busy day at work that I realized I hadn't had anything else all day. I never even thought about it all day. (Not that this is necessarily a go…

So hard to believe it's been a year already! It seemed like such a long wait during the 6 months preop and now it seems like it flew by! I had a very quick and painless recovery from surgery...was back full time at work in 2 weeks (But...I must say I work at the ER of the hospital where I had surgery and that made it easier for me) I have had very little that upsets my pouch, but I am VERY careful of what I put in it. I have learned so much in my journey this far like what portion control is, how to fuel my body instead of feed it, exercise really does give you more energy, water is your best friend and that I can be healthy, happy and do things I never thought I coul…

It feels really rewarding to fit into clothes I haven't worn in a while, and of course seeing the scale move (even if it's slower now) is awesome... but really am feeling the best part is just how my body feels. more energy, better mood, and while I'm not in the green zone and i'm still very conscious of stopping myself after a band sized portion, I am starting to make waaaaaaaay better food choices in a way that feels more natural and less forced. really feeling pretty great right now!

Well here's an update. Down to 245. I guess that makes 120lbs lost. I still maintain a fairly strict diet. High Protein, low carbs, fairly low fat. I have a weakness for Gatorade, watermelon, and about once every two or three weeks, I MAY get a Cheerwine (for the NC peeps) slushy. I try to keep things in the 1000-1100 calorie range until I hit the weight I want to be at, then will adjust from there to maintain. I havent hammered down a true diet yet, but over the course of a day I may eat a pack of Lance cashews, which is a meal for me now, a boiled egg, maybe a half a chicken breast, or whole one over the course of two meals, and some green vegetables (broccoli is …

Surgery was on 7/31 so it will be 2 weeks tomorrow. I've done everything I was supposed to (and avoided those I'm NOT) and still have been at a stall for a whole week. Sheesh I hate this part. I'm just now getting ready to move from liquids to purees and I can hear some of you thinking, "how can she NOT be losing?"...it's the same thing I am thinking! Everything else has gone so well. Went back to work on Day 6 with no problems at all. No nausea. No impulse to vomit. After week 1, no pain. Energy almost back to normal. But dang it...I want to lose, not hold what I've got! So sorry for the venting!

Hello, I am not actually having my VSG till the end of next month but was wondering if any of you have watched VSG success and/or stories on Youtube? I enjoy this forum very much but as a pre-op, I find their stories to be quite encouraging, realistic and helpful. What do you think? James

Went for my 1 month post-op appt yesterday, and was surprised by the improvement in my resting heart rate! It dropped from 97 to 72! I wasn't really tracking my blood pressure preop, but knew it was climbing, but not to the point of being medicated yet. Yesterday, it was 108/80. And I am 27 # down since 6/25 pre-op diet : )

Who goes on vacation weighing 202.8, leaves the scale at home, imbibes in a bit too much wine and pineapple rum, grazes a little on dry Snacks, steals a few bites of ice cream and still loses 3.4 pounds, now weighing in at 199.4? This girl right here! Now I am back to tracking, back to the exercise routine and determined to loosen up these size 14s I could button today. (Ignore the screaming wedgie in the back, I will not be wearing these quite yet.) Wooooot!

Banded July 1 and a week later I went shopping with my sister and her kids. I found a DKNy dress in size 18w for 15 bucks. Post surgery I was a 22w (maybe 24) but I wouldn't buy larger than a 22. I saw that coral dress n it was a steal at 15 bucks. I bought it for my trip to Vegas in September in hopes it would fit (kept receipt in bag had 6 months to return just in case i love Macys !!! ) anyway Well I tried it on yestedat 1 month to the day I bought it and it fits ... It fits and looks nice it might be a lil big next month but ill get the sucker tailored . I'm super happy and wanted to share my 2nd first NSV... The first one was walking Into an all tone favorite baker…

So I have these pants I thought still fit and since I have a sun burn I knew they would be a little loose and comfy, So I put them on they were so big that my 40 Lb 4 year old climbed in with me and we took a photo. I got him in further when I held him closer. But a friend on here told me you guys would like this. A fun visual!

But it did read 198.8! :-) I completely skipped over 199. It almost seems anti-climatic. Lol. Very happy with my band. I've lost ~75 lbs in a lil less than 8 months. I have about that much more to lose since I'm short to reach a good BMI. Good luck to you on your journey!

When I started my surgery my first goal was to get below my lowest weight I could achieve on my own which was 230. After that my goal was to weigh less then my husband 226. Then my goal was to be in Onederland. Once I made it there my goal was to weigh less than my older sister who was always the thin one 185 . Today I have reached my 5th goal 177 pounds. this is the weight I was when I got married ten years ago. My next goal is to get to 150 pounds which is the median range for my height 5'6'' and body frame size of large. So happy with my sleeve.this surgery is awesome. Life is good

Just back from getting weighed and, after no weight loss since the second week in July, have dropped another 6lbs. Woohoo..... am doing the happy dance round the room!!!! 49lbs off (plus 16 lbs I lost in the weeks to pre-op making a total of 65lbs), 18 to go. Am soooo excited... and I just bought a pair of jeans in an US8 / UK12. Need to calm down now as I am off to a meditation session involving Tibetan singing bowls. Need a few more laps of the room before I go or I will be vibrating more than the bowls.... :-)))))))

To those wondering "will this happen to me" ... Yes. I was anxious and scare before surgery. Today I tried on size 10 jeans. I won't stop until size 5 jeans fit me. That is how I look hot. I know, I know...shallow and superficial...but let me enjoy my moment. Let me associate the word "hot" next to my name. I need this.

I am currently in the Outer Banks with my family and loving my time here. I have had a textbook recovery and will be 7 weeks out In a few days. Do you think it is ok for me to do whatever I want as far as playing in the surf, body boarding etc? Am I considered healed?

Woo Hoo...did a little shopping last night. Started out to finish up some back to school for my youngest son (which I did) but also decided that yesterday morning when I went down to the kitchen for coffee and PJ bottoms dropped to the floor TWICE it might be time for some new jammies, especially with 4 sons in the house and any number of overnight guests here at any time who definitely do not want a free show from their buddy's mom, lol. I have officially moved into a size 6!! Never ever thought I would see that size again in my life, at least not since high school and having kids. Not bad for starting out a size 20 and 1-2X tops-now down to a 6 in pants and a medium …

Hello All, I have been stalking you all since November and am finally ready to actively join this wonderful group! Your stories are so inspirational and I can't wait to start posting my own. I won't go into a long drawn out story of my struggles with weight because from here on out I only want to look forward! I started my two week pre-op diet on August 7th and am scheduled for surgery on August 21st. It has been a really rocky road with lots of hoops and let downs since November but I am finally letting myself believe this is really going to happen for me. I started the summer at 257 and was not given a date until I got back down to 243 which was what I weighed i…

Had my 6 month check up today with primary doctor. I lost 40 lbs since my visit in January. Total of 82 lbs. My BMI is 23. I am not obese anymore. I'm almost 60 but she said age is not a factor anymore! Love my doctor and my lap band with plication! No fills!

I was sleeved 4/9/13, and as of today, 8/10/13, I have lost 75 pounds! (counting pre-op) It feels like it's been longer than that, but in a way it feels like surgery was yesterday, too. I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in over 10 years, finally cleaning my closet of stuff that's too big (had no idea I had that many clothes, or that many sizes!), and even had to bring my riding boots to the shoe man to have them made smaller. (I looked like a kid clomping around in Daddy's boots!) Still have a long way to go, another 7 pounds and I'll be halfway to goal!

Hello Sleeved To Be's and Sleevers! lol I can't thank you all enough for all the positive feedback an encouragement given my way these last couple of days. I thought I wasn't going to make it! lol The first 3 days was so damn uncomfortable and I felt so sick. You all helped me push thru it and today the gas is better, I'm taken in more liquids, I FINALLY used the bathroom (#2), TMI but it has to be said, it is such a relief!!! lol How are you all doing today?

I did a follow up sleep study 3 weeks ago (1 year post op), just because I was curious where things stood between me, mr cpap and a good nights rest. The pulmonary doctor said I had 2 events during the night and anything below 5 events is considered normal. Yay! I kind of already suspected severe sleep apnea was wiped out after surgery, but it was good to get medical confirmation. Oh and those 2 events were a very slight snore in the back of my throat, hardly even audible, but the wires picked up the vibration. So snoring kicked the bucket also! Bonus!!

My starting weight was 345 I'm now three months out and just hit 250! It's crazy how different I feel and how my confidence has just risen! It also makes me so sad to see how different ppl treat me. But overall so happy I'm getting healthy and making this life long change at 18.

Had 9 month post op appointment this week. Meeting & slightly exceeding 80 gm of protein, with at least 65 coming from food. Was advised I no longer need the daily protein shakes. So, so happy.

I started at the band and realized the sleeve was for me, but now I am wondering if bypass is the way I should go. What made you decide?? I've ward bypass is better for grazers and sugar snackers, but I'm afraid of the serious complications of by pass. Thoughts?

I don't want to sound perverted but I've had a hard time keeping my hands off myself since the fat came off. No, not in a sexual way. You know when you had a tooth pulled out and your tongue kept going into the empty space? It seems the brain needs to get used to rapid changes in body image. It seems to want to map the areas over and over until it gets the picture. I have found myself feeling the sunk in area around my collar bone, my protruding ribs, my sinewy shoulders, my smaller wrists, my thin legs when I wasn't even aware I was doing it. Decades with a fat body leaves an impression. I think my brain is trying to erase it. Anyone else having to adjust to the emp…

by doing a 3.5 miles walk/jog! Walk 1 minute, jog 35 seconds (I'm new to this!). Last Sunday I just did the intervals for 2 miles then jogged when I felt like it for a bit. Today I did the entire thing in the 1:35 intervals! Pace 15:23 minute miles! And burned 521 calories to boot!

Hi guys. I was just wondering what people's experiences have been with their skin. Does it go back to normal at all? Does it just hang down? Is the problem just in the belly area? Thank you for sharing your experience

I had surgery on 3/25/13 but lost 30-25 pounds in the month before that. I've lost a total of 101 pounds as of this morning. I had my gall bladder taken out on Monday but other than that, I've had no problems/complications. I have really got to get some pictures linked in here to show some progress. My weight loss has really slowed down over the past month but seems like it has picked up since my gall bladder came out. Hopefully it will continue on down. I'd love to be below 200 by Christmas. I guess we will just have to wait and see how it goes!

Sorry for the length of this post but this is really important for me. I don't want to say this is a NSV because it's more like a seismic shift in my perception and the reality of my new body. I was on the train last night heading home from work. Across from me was a rather large woman. There was an empty seat next to her..or should I say an empty 2/3rds of a seat. No one was in it for obvious reasons and I remember well no one sitting next to me either when I was much heavier. Well, a young man who looked like he probably played football for his high school team sat next to her and was sitting on the edge of the seat as he could not fit comfortably into it. I tho…

I know, a million people have done it before me, and a million more will do it after me, but I don't care! TODAY I WEIGH LESS THAN 200 POUNDS!!!!!! I haven't been CLOSE to 200, let alone UNDER it in 18 years! It feels awesome to know this is really happening! I know there's a lot more hard work ahead of me - reading the Vets Forum has taught me that. But it also gives me hope because others have done it, are doing it still, and it seems possible that I could too!
